Office Manager Construction Used the software for: 2+ years ### "Powerful Tool for Small Business" March 16, 2026 4.0 Once the initial deer-in-headlights trauma that happens when you first experience the platform and you really start to understand how everything works together (bills, invoices, reporting, etc) then it becomes as powerful a tool as any business can get. Pros What is particularly useful to us is it's integration with our project management software. It easily and seamlessly transfers data back and forth and has reduced or eliminated double entry. A huge time saver. For a monthly fee of under $100, Quickbooks online gives us full financial insight into the profitability of our projects as well as for our company as a whole. We have not experienced any issues or glitches or anything similar. QBO has been a solid, dependable partner for our business Cons I often wondered why QBO does not have a learning portal readily available within our account. It is convenient especially when you have people working on the same file in different offices. Pros The ability to access Quickbooks online from any computer, anywhere is the main reason we went with Quickboos online. Cons IT is a bit cumbersome to use Quickbooks online. It is quite different from the desktop version. However it does have most of the same features. QuickBooks "experts" often are unable to problem-solve, resulting in many transfers Pros I think the most helpful thing about QuickBooks is that it remembers my username and password, which lets me sign in quickly. Cons I don't think Intuit understands the needs of small businesses and the importance of tracking deductions. I have spent over an hour and a half with customer support to learn that there is no way to run a report that reflects only business miles, even though they are tracked. It has been a blessing for managing our company's financing. Because it is always available through a web browser, means that I can always handle any invoicing need no mater where I am. Pros QuickBooks Online has been a core component of our company's financial management and reporting for several years now. QuickBooks API easily allows it to integrate with our field management software for invoicing and estimate tracking. It is the best value per $ of any of the software packages that we use. Cons Customer support can be lacking at times if there are features that are hidden behind charges for software upgrades. Support sometimes acts more like a sales team rather than support. Though, any bugs or issues that we have with QuickBooks Online have always been resolved, usually within 48 hours. Again, it is one of those programs that is really essential for running a business. You are able to do so much, and with the proper training you can really succeed. Pros Quickbooks is a great program for easily sending invoices and receiving payments. Although it did have a few bugs in the early stages and we encountered some issues, they seem to resolve them pretty quickly. It is very user friendly and easy to train. It is a great 'one stop shop' of invoicing, payments, financial reports and bookkeeping. Cons The customer support is not all that great, and it is difficult to get in touch with someone who understands your issue. Pros The direct bank and credit card feeds drastically reduce manual entry. Once rules are dialed in, categorization becomes semi-automated, and reconciliations move from a tedious monthly task to something you can maintain continuously. Cons The constant changes to menus and layouts are frustrating. Features move without warning, which disrupts workflows and slows down routine tasks. I have tried other softwares and do not find they are as user friendly for both bookkeepers and business owners. Pros I like QuickBooks online for its ability to access it from anywhere. I like the mobile app for quick recording and snapping pictures of receipts. The financial reports are great to be able to analyze the health of your business. Quickbooks makes collecting payments from customers easy. Their customer support is helpful and quick to respond. Cons I do not like how often they are changing features and am not a fan of the new invoicing layout. Quickbooks fees seem to be continually increasing as well and I find it hard to sell it to clients when the fees increase frequently. They were annoying in 2000. Now they are super annoying. Accounting software should feel like a high-pressure car salesguy trying to make a buck. Pros It's accounting. Nothing to like. Lots of room for improvement to make entering bills and payments and invoices easier. Cons Plan price increases are ridiculous. For a condo association, paying $115/mo just to uses "Classes" is a bit overkill. The constant upselling inside the app is annoying. Every time I use it i feel like i'm being pressured add on, upgrade, enhance, do more. I just want the in-app advertisements to stop. no i don't want Payroll. No I don't want bill pay. no, i don't want dog-washing service. I just want to enter some bills and payments. August 11, 2025 5.0 It is generally very easy to use, pretty self explanatory and helpful for not only myself, but for my accountants to easily track our accounts. It is just very expensive and the customer service is often not very helpful and more so trying to act as sales representatives. Pros It is a great way to keep your accounts organized while easily tracking spending and earnings so that you don't overspend or underestimate earnings. Cons Every so often Quickbooks will contact you to try to get you to upgrade your software and make it seem like it's urgent or necessary. The majority of the time it is not urgent and you don't really need to upgrade as their prices are exorbitant. One time they tricked me into upgrading and I subsequently lost all my payroll features so I was not able to complete payroll for an entire week, forcing me to write physical checks for my staff which ended up making matters very complicated later on when we had to take money out of our staff's future checks to make up for the taxes that were not deducted from the paper checks. We did have some speed issues because of the internet and the data volume though. We had a harder time figuring out some of the more detailed reports, however, using hte desktop version instead of the online version worked for those. Pros The Pros of QuickBooks online include being able to access it anywhere because it uses the cloud. You can also log in from several devices which is very helpful. Cons The cons of using QuickBooks online is that you rent the software but do not own it so it incurs more costs in the long term. March 4, 2026 5.0 I use QBO for financial reporting and processing employee payroll 2x/month with my real estate team; I'm a director of operations. Their customer support is very helpful and responsive with random issues I have had. I also process several co-sponsor invoices annually for our client events, and it's super clean and simple to do and customize to collect co-sponsor event payments. We also process HSA payments related to one of our employee's health insurance accounts, and this was simple to setup. I'm always learning more about QuickBooks, and grateful for how it supports our team and business. Pros I've worked with QuickBooks Online the last 3 years in my real estate job, and it's detailed and easy to use. I'm not a particularly math savvy woman, but I find QBO to have a clean and user friendly design. All I found that QuickBooks Online is great for businesses those are totally online. Pros 1\. Because QBO is fully online, you (or your bookkeeper) can access financials from any device with internet, which is useful when you’re working remotely or on the go. 2. Since the financial data is online, sharing access with your accountant or bookkeeper is simpler (e.g., no need to send files back and forth). Cons 1\. Being cloud-based means if your internet is spotty or slow (which might be a consideration in Kampala or remote work situations), you’ll run into disruptions. 2. QBO uses a monthly subscription. Pros I use QuickBooks for my business and LOVE it! I'm able to track ALL of my bank accounts (multiple banks), credit cards and mileage all within their portal. It's easy to use, it auto starts when I start driving. Invoices are easy to generate and end of year reporting is great which I can share with my accountant for tax filing purposes. Cons Sometimes the mileage tracking doesn't work and every so often the bank accounts will disconnect. While it's not usually a big deal to reconnect the bank accounts, sometimes it can be a pain. I would like to figure out why the mileage tracking has issues but it seems to be better more recently than it was a few months ago. Review Source RB Rob B. But their customer service is really good and when I have to use it, my issues are usually resolved in one interaction. Overall, the ease of generating invoices and accepting payments outweighs the headaches. Pros Ease of use for me and for customers. I can easily add services and products and sending a payment link to customers is easy; I can either email them directly from Quickbooks or copy a link to send from my own email. Cons Frequent changes to interface with little or no explanation. Things I use regularly like invoicing moves and I have to dig deep to find it. They also separated the customer database from the invoicing tab which is counter-intuitive. Review Source Mark R. December 11, 2025 5.0 Pros Beyond the amazing attributes of QuickBooks as a software program that I could rattle off here, the icing on the cake is the online version. I travel a lot and often times would not be able to VPN in and access a remote desktop to access QuickBooks. Having access to QUickBooks through it's online platform is amazing and robust, and most of all, always up to date. Cons My least favorite aspect of QuickBooks Online is the reporting flexibility. For a cloud-based platform, it offers fewer customization options than expected, and exporting to Excel is often required to get the format needed. It’s not a deal breaker, but it does add friction to month-end processes.
