However, since Taxes To Go is unreliable, it's not economical if I need to purchases a replacement for it. Last year I brought my issues to Taxslayer Pro management and they were unwilling to give me a discount when I renewed. That coupled with the embarrassment I experienced with new clients is making me strongly consider other professional software. If they had demonstrated any concern, I'd feel differently. Last year I couldn't even get a response to my request for over two weeks. Sales dropped the ball multiple times. Pros Taxslayer Pro's technical support is very helpful. Unfortunately, the issues with Taxes To Go leaves them unable to address issues in a timely fashion. Cons I had significant issues with Taxes To Go last year, but I tried again this year. My new client submitted their information in Taxes To Go. I had an issue with my 2025 software. (It was stuck "loading". This issue happened twice.) After Support addressed the issue, the return was no longer accessible in Taxslayer Pro. Support offered to reach out to Development to see if they have a solution, but that is a lengthy process. I asked about deleting the submission so my client can try again. They said that process is only done about once a month and there is no method to accelerate the process. That is unacceptable during tax season and it is embarrassing to have this issue with a new client. The only work around they could offer is setting up a new account using a different email. Again, this doesn't give new clients a feeling of security. They also can't tell me why it happened so I'm leery about using Taxes To Go again. More room for improvements. Pros Ease of Use - it's very easy to navigate for clients with simple tax returns. Just perfect for my freelance work. Cons Not good for complicated tax returns like those for crossborder clients. For someone with treaties, depreciation, business - it is challenging to use. I had to go to another company. Support got worse and worse each year. When I got a new server in 2019, I realized just how much of an issue installing old version on a new computer was given how they redid the program in 2014. It took almost a month for me to get the software going in 2019. I work many hours on it and got such a sour taste in my mouth as a result I started looking at other software. I did finally leave and this year when I got a new server and tried installing I had even more problems than before and I only installed from 2016 forward. Taxslayer refused to help me on those years I paid for since I am not a current user for 2023. I told them I paid over a $1,000 for this software each of those years and they said they would not help me at all. Pros I like the e-file feature and the fact I knew the program as well as I did. Cons They only support 3 years of software and if your computer dies trying to install old software on a new computer is very difficult and you get no help from TaxSlayer. Once you leave no help on older years that you paid for. There are codes you need and if you do not get them in the year of purchase, you cannot get them after 3 years so those returns cannot be installed without them. They have to be gotten from support. The error rate is extremely high in the software and they are slow to fix errors and do not fix many of them. The program did not work. it did not include my adjustments to income even though I entered them. It cost $109.59 rather than the amount they advertised. It cost me thousands of dollars! It would not print my return. The bottom line is, AVOID THIS PROGRAM LIKE THE PLAGUE. Pros The blanks were fairly easy to enter, although parts of the forms were unnecessarily complicated. Cons It screws up the results! After entering all of the deductions, it indicated that the adjusted gross was the same as the gross costing me thousands. After the failure of TaxSlayer, I redid my taxes with TurboTax, and got them right showing that I was due a refund.
