I've been in the association management for the past 20 years. I've used home grown Access databases as well as Growthzone, Arwin AMS, and Memberclicks. Novi AMS by far is the best I have personally used.

Pros

It's an associate management software that is designed by individuals who actually worked within association management. They understand our pain points!

Cons

Nothing really comes to mind. I've been trying to think of something and I just can't really come up with anything.

Reason for choosing Novi AMS

I was pretty much set on Growthzone, but my Exec asked me to check Novi out, so I did. The thing that transformed my opinion was that Novi has a strong Quickbooks integration. They designed Novi to work seamlessly with Quickbooks. Additionally Novi doesn't take the approach to do everthing under the sun. They have an open API which allows us to integrate with additional online resources that we were already using such as constant contact. This was a gamechanger for us. They handle the important things with association management and for those organizations that want more options they can work with other online software that provides that additional functionality.

We used Arwin MEP which was part of the Noah. It was overpriced, under preformed, built on old technology, very limited customer support. They didn't have enough staff to deal with issues that arose over time.

### "Best experience we've ever had with a third-party product"

We have been with Novi AMS for over two years. It was (and continues to be) the best decision we've ever made to switch to them to manage our association. Not only is the product everything they promised during the sales process, but they regularly add and improve features, as well as taking into account customer requests for additions. And unlike other third-party products we use/have used, they don't have a premium tier or try to upsell you on buying more features - as far as I know, everything they offer is available to everyone who is their customer.

Pros

Where Novi AMS truly stands out as a company is that they genuinely WANT to improve their product and themselves - they listen to their customers, they think about what they can do to make their product what we need, and they are still at a size where they can and do try to treat every customer as an individual, rather than as a number being added to their bottom line. And to be clear, treating every customer as an individual and asking that all your employees try to keep that in mind is a decision - it is not something that automatically happens with small companies or something that you can state once as the mission of your company and just expect everyone to follow - this is something that someone somewhere in the company made an active decision about and then did their best to model the behavior they wanted. They have largely succeeded.

Cons

Right now it's still difficult to quickly search members in Novi by their locations as the state fields can be entered by people in various formats. Also there is no mobile version yet but I believe that is already in their list of improvements coming up soon.

### "Using Novi For a Couple of Years"

We use NOVI for the PBAA day to day business such as accounting, events..etc. I enjoy that there are many options on Novi but some can be confusing. Before the last update I was unable to pull up a report of who had joined or dropped. This has been fixed as there is a simple click on button that says Add Report/Drop Report which is very helpful!!! To set this entire thing up a couple of years ago, it was a LONG process that requires lots of time. Now, having a few years under my belt, it has simplified. If you decide to use NOVI, during the set up make sure whoever is going to be using NOVI participates in the training/set up along with you-it makes things a lot easier in the long run. There are a lot of helpful articles if needed!

Some features can be confusing or are not simplified.

There is not much negative we can say about our experience so far with Novi. If there is something not working or an improvement we request, they have always worked diligently for resolution.

As a small affiliate, NOVI feels like another partner in our day to day operations. From the top to the bottom, the NOVI Team cares about us, the customer. I can't imagine how I did this before using NOVI.

The customer service is top notch! If their team can't answer a question, they take the time to dig in and figure out how they can help. They truly feel like a partner in our association.

The overall Novi experience has been fantastic! Our conversion into Novi was the smoothest process anyone on our staff has experienced!

Pros

Customer services is amazing! Functionality is far above what we've been working with with in the past 18 months. Novi is also the most user friendly AMS I have personally worked with in the past 20+ years.

That we didn't find it sooner. Once we started hearing about it from other users through so many random connections, it was clear we had to do a demo which was all it took to win us over.

We are a hybrid professional organization with a mix of individual and corporate members.  We went live with Novi in Dec 2021.  1. AMS selection process: exceptional.  \[SENSITIVE CONTENT\] and his team were exceptionally open, transparent, patient, and diligent when answering our questions, providing us with demos, and ensuring that we had an accurate grasp of Novi's capabilities during our AMS selection process.  Our selection process narrowed down to 4 finalists and Novi was a late and uncertain entry but ended up finishing at the top of the pack with a significant advantage. 2. AMS implementation and onboarding: Fantastic.  Novi managed the entire project via Asana and our team became part of that Asana project with all milestones, deadlines and deliverables clearly marked.  Novi's team stayed on task and on time and our implementation slipped by only 2 weeks from an original estimate of 3 months.  The slippage was mostly on us and due to Thanksgiving holidays falling near the end and our staff taking time off.  Exellent project management and leadership from Novi's team. 3. Early support: Naturally shortly after the implementation there is a lot of need for hand-holding.  Novi's team excels at that.  Novi's documentation and online help are excellent and more often than not we were able to self service. 4. Life on Novi: it won't come to surprise to anyone that there will be things you can't accomplish on any system the way you want to accomplish them.  With that being said Novi's tea

Pros

Novi does not try to do too many things inside one system. It focuses on member management and transactions, events, and ease of integrations with other best of breed systems. This allows us to built the optimal business IT ecosystem comprised of focus-built system each of which is best in what it does and fits our requirements. Spectacular customer service and support. Hands down the best I have experienced.

Cons

Nothing really comes to mind. My very esoteric need is to easily replicate production environment into staging. This is not really supported in an automated way.

### "A robust and intuitive AMS"

My experience has been nothing but positive. I would absolutely recommend Novi to my peers, whether you're a small and mighty association or a larger organization.

Pros

We are a smaller association with 4 staff members. Novi helps us do our jobs more effectively and efficiently. It's a very user-friendly platform and so simple to navigate, but offers everything we need and then some. The two-way sync with QuickBooks is what originally sold us. But I also find both the membership management and web development tools intuitive and robust, and love having them both under one roof. Novi thinks of things we need before we do! (Love the newer census and NPS features.) Their team is extremely responsive to our questions and proactive in providing trainings and support as well as system improvements that are actually based on user requests.

Cons

I have yet to find anything Novi can't do for us. They're constantly evolving to fit the needs of their users.

### "Easiest software implementation ever!"

The entire team form sales to training and conversion were amazing. By then end of the timeline, they felt like friends. The continued support through their Intercom tool is fast, and you always get the answers you need.

Pros

The website development and subsequent management was hands-down the biggest asset. In addition, having all my member data in one location increased efficiency and freed me to focus on other things.

Cons

Not one con to this product at all! I have not found one component that doesn't fully meet & exceed my expectations.

I love everything about Novi. I love how well they listen to their users and how often they implement new features. The software is very user-friendly and easy to customize. I can create new pages on our website very easily, and their help articles are easy to follow and use.

Cons

I wish I better understood the limitations when I first signed up, but that was my own fault. I didn't know about Zapier, Map Dynamics, and other programs I would need to integrate and hadn't budgeted for them.

Pros

I love that Novi was built by its users and continues to be. They are constantly making improvements, and I love that customer service is so accessible! It has made my job so much easier.

Cons

I struggle with the member renewal process, which seems much more complicated than it needs to be. Also, there is a steep learning curve with the Quickbooks integration, which I am still learning six months in.

I would encourage any association to give Novi AMS strong consideration as their next AMS. They are a true partner for our association!

Pros

Novi is built on QuickBooks, so the integration is seamless. The Novi staff respond to our questions and inquiries within 20 minutes - our previous provider wouldn't even acknowledge our submission for three months. The Novi team cares greatly about their client associations. Novi is always innovating and are using AI to bring new value to associations.

Cons

Nothing. We don't expect perfection, and they will admit when they made a mistake. They are always thinking about offering more value to associations.

Pros

There are a million reasons why we chose and continue to choose NOVI for our association management software. First and foremost, the customer service is bar none. Have a feature you really care about but cant find? They will personally help you find it or submit it as a suggestion for future updates. NOVI is one of the few companies I've felt like actually cares about me after the sale has gone through. We've been customers for over 5 years and have loved every minute of it. The platform is easy to use and reliable. It makes my job so much easier knowing I don't have to worry about our website. These guys are fantastic, I recommend them to everyone in search of an AMS!

Cons

The only complaint here would be our association's need for specific features to be included. I say this full well knowing how incredible the team is at adding new features and listening to what we care about most. No doubt we will see these features at some point.

### "Extremely happy with Novi AMS"

I love Novi AMS and the excellent and outstanding service I receive from one of the best teams in the country. I would most definitely refer other association executive to join in on the Novi AMS software and make their jobs more enjoyable and efficient.

Pros

We were old school for many years meaning, we manual entered membership data in Excel spread sheets. In 2018, GCAA began the transaction of moving all membership data to Novi AMS which made my role as the executive director so much more efficient and organized. I am now able to pull up membership account which ease and find all info in one place. This better serves my association members and makes my job so much more enjoyable. Being web based I can now work from anywhere and give better customer service. Plus hosting events with registration, invoices and having communication thru the events has been a huge benefit in our attendance. The ability to get the training needed after onboarding and the relationships that have formed after the last couple years has been a true blessing. There is never anything that I do not get help with immediately due to the best and most professional costumer service.

Cons

I really cannot name a single thing I least like about this software, however I believe an app that we can use on our mobile devices would be a great addition.

Reason for choosing Novi AMS

The software was affordable but for an association of our size, and the fact that we were not budgeted it was expensive to us in the beginning. The presentation was sincere when given to our board of directors and because we knew we were getting a great software to help us better manage our data, we were ready for the upgrade. The biggest difference for me personally was knowing that the team at NOVI was delivering the training and onboarding process in the most sincere way. You could tell each team member really cared and wanted to make sure we were successful in the transition. You just do not get that type of customer empathy in todays professional world. It meant so much to me that they were very patient, understanding and worked with my schedule. Still to this day, I know that if I have a question or need more training they drop everything to help. The software has changed our association and we have grown since we made the change, but the people is what makes it so positive and successful.

The ease of use with NOVI is amazing. it's so user friendly and always improving. The NOVI team is amazing they really listen to your concerns and feedback. Unlike other database systems I've used, I'm not trying to find something better - I've found it.

Pros

The way it integrates with QuickBooks and ease of tracking payments and memberships. it's great for events and advertising. Ease for member use also.

Cons

I don't really have any cons. i am annoyed that i have to get a text every time I log into the database, and no one seems to have fix. it's ok but when you're on a plane and want to work you can't get a text.

### "Great Option for a Smaller Association"

I cannot say enough about the Novi team and the process from start to launch. Their approach to our project was thoughtful and incredibly organized with milestones and check-ins throughout. A project of this size can quickly become overwhelming but Novi's support and regular outreach kept us focused and moving forward. We are a small staff with tech-savvy limitations and Novi was there for us every step of the way. This product was created for an association like ours. Post launch Novi continues to provide regular roundtables on their products and open forums to discuss any issues and get your questions answered.

Pros

We're a few months in to using Novi's AMS and are thrilled with the result. As a membership association with a small staff, it was imperative that we identified a product that was easy to understand, seamless to train our staff across the board and customizable based on our unique needs. Novi's AMS solution really delivered. The main database dashboard provides an easy-to-understand overview of membership numbers and income. From there, you can quickly dive into groups, events, ecommerce, blogs and more that can be customized for your organization. The website is my favorite part. We were using a clunky, custom-build from a decade ago and the capabilities we have with Novi's product are unparalleled. We needed a solution that we could roll-out quickly and Novi had our entire new system up and running in just a few months. The interaction within the various cogs of the system has been seamless and the ability to link to Constant Contact has cut down on staff time.

Cons

We're really still in the discovery phase for everything Novi has to offer. Our association has some incredibly nuanced membership categories and ecommerce packages that required workarounds or an additional brainstorming session to identify if these "special cases" still serve our membership's needs. Whenever we hit a potential roadblock, the Novi team was incredibly patient and went back to the drawing board multiple times to suggest potential solutions. We really kept the mindset of, if a solution couldn't be found within Novi, it's probably something we shouldn't be doing anyway. Approach any roadblocks with the software with new solutions for your association and it's a win-win.

NOVI AMS has been a pleasure to work with. Their yearly conference is a must attend event. At the conferene they work hand in hand with their users to elevate our experience with the product and give us the opportunity to vote on which new features to implement next.

Pros

NOVI AMS is intuitive and very easy to learn and use. Event set up is quick and the group and reporting features make budget projections a breeze!

Cons

I love everything about NOVI! If I ever do encounter an issue their team responds asap to help resolve the issue.

Novi is the best at customer service! There are articles to read, informative roundtables to attend, online chat help, and my onboarding people are still reachable even months after being a client. Super fast response and simple instructions on how to update and fix absolutely anything. Novi is always coming out with new features to make every part more functional and internet safe and savvy.

Pros

Integrating into Novi was absolutely seamless! The onboarding team was informative and helpful every step of the way. There was no guess work on the expectations and constant customer support. I like several features the most - entering new members and staff is easy, and so is making changes on the website. Creating and managing events is simple - and so is managing registrations. I love the countdown feature to show how many tickets are left to create a sense of urgency to sell out! I love that all of my members and staff integrate with Constant Contact. I can create lists in Novi that carry over, so I am only sending information to the groups that it pertains to, rather than all the members, all the time. I am sure that they appreciate less emails also! I also like that you really can not make a duplicate business or person entry at all, or a duplicate registration, less room for error, and accounting and member/unit count mistakes. The dashboards are my favorite - I always know how many members I have and how much $ is outstanding.

Cons

The accounting was different for me, not that it is a con, just not all transactions can be fixed or created through Novi. But, after a few months of getting familiar with all the aspects of QB and QB Payments, it meshes well now. I was used to doing all payables and receivables in one place.

### "Fan of the Novi Team"

I have been a user since 2016. I was an employee that transitioned from another product to novi. I then became my own business and my clients are novi users who have hired me on for their accounting needs. I get to see a lot of different users interact with novi and I have to say all of them tell me how happy they are that they moved to novi.

Pros

The thing I like most about novi is that it is so reliable and completes many tasks automatically. It has a seamless hookup with QuickBooks, one that can be counted on to record the transactions accurately. Then there is the staff, they are always ready to help their customers learn. They reach out on a regular basis to check in with them and see if they need anything. When customers suggest a feature that they would like, the novi team goes right to work to make it a reality if it's possible.

Cons

The problem here is that anything I could write here has already been taken care of. Then again, that's not a problem that's fantastic! The novi team does not want their customers to be unhappy and are constantly adding more capability to their product.

Our overall experience has been great from the very start. We couldn't be happier!

Pros

There are SO MANY great things about Novi that I hardly know where to start. It is easy to learn, easy to use, and the implementation was seamless. The integration with QuickBooks Online works so well behind the scenes that you hardly even notice that it's happening. I am a HUGE fan.

Cons

I can't think of anything that I don't like or that needs to be improved. One reason is that Novi is constantly evolving and improving. As soon as we think of something that we want or need, Novi has usually beaten us to the punch and is already working on rolling it out.
