The customer support is superb, since you can resolve roadblocks in real time. It really makes a difference especially when first learning the software. I am very very pleased with the visualization and data manipulation abilities of Sigma Computing. Cons Sigma requires a learning curve of at least 2 weeks for new users. If users don't commit the time to learning, they will continually put off mastering and using the software, even if familiar tools like Excel and Google Sheets are less capable and take more time to create visualizations in. As a Data analyst, I used Sigma to work with datasets in a spreadsheet-like interface integrating cloud data warehouses like Bigquery and Snowflake, and it connects directly without requiring complex setup. Pros I like Sigma spreadsheet interface, it makes it easy for me to explore data without needing advanced technical skills, and it integrates well with cloud data warehouses. Cons Sigma can be slow when working with very large datasets and some advanced analytical features are limited compared to other traditional BI tools. I also feel like you need more technical data analysis skills to do some common things (like a year over year comparison). I cannot remember a time where it was this easy to show someone results in data form with accompanying graphs to help visualize the data in a palatable way. Pros Sigma is mostly easy to use, and has a very clean and simple presentation. The data is almost always accurate, and has little downtime for updates. My teams have no problems finding the info they need after I showed them where to look! Cons The dashboard/site could use with some personality and flair. The drab black/white can be somewhat monotonous. Offering classes/tutorials for how to find certain data sets, and analyze your results would be a huge bonus. This greatly speeds up the process. Cons While admins can adjust search parameters, users don't have the ability to set and save things like data ranges. You'll either have to adjust your dates every time you use the program (which is a pain) or make sure your admin is on the ball about updating parameters. It let me do calculations myself that would usually require whole cycles of data requests, and affords me much more flexibility. Pros \* Ability to pull any data I need or want \* Complexity of calculations possible while being easy to use \* Seriously those grouping levels are VERY powerful Cons \* Pivot tables are the one thing they haven't aced yet - you can make them but then to calculate cased on them you need to make a new dataset and then a new sheet. You can do pretty much all the same work with just levels though so I don't miss them too often. \* I wish my default permissions could be "public" - I'm never doing anything private, so why is that the default? \* Maps could use some work. Pros I love the secure cloud hosting, the ease of connecting to data sources, the fact that it queries the data directly, but most I like the grid based view of data that is always at hand. Being able to view, sort, filter, and create calculations on the data in a familiar spreadsheet-like interface is genius. The “Column Details” feature allows me to quickly understand the range of values in the system. Cons I’ve generated several feature requests for areas we’d like to see more detail.
