Sometimes it works great, sometimes it freezes and lags, and doesn’t update. The PTO calculator is awesome for future planning! Pros I like that the app links with eDocs and things can be pre-filled in, which saves time. I also like that you can add in PTO and holidays before they actually happen, making it easier to keep track of days/things happening. I also love the PTO calculator! Cons The app can lag a bit sometimes, and doesn’t always refresh with what information you just entered. Sometimes I have to flip back and forth between days for something that I entered to appear on the day that I entered it. There are ample categories for different disciplines to document in the same chart. Whenever I have had an issue, I have received quick help from the customer service team. Pros Tailored documentation for hospice rather than general home care nursing. I appreciate having so many categories/folders for different disciplines to upload documents, individual documentation, or care plans and treatment orders. Cons Wound care documentation does not allow for MASD classification. It would also be helpful if instead of discontinuing a medication and creating a whole new form, if a dose is being changed, you could just edit that specific medication's dose. I started out using Hospice Tools with very little computer knowledge, and it was very easy for me to pick up. Pros The Hospice Tools software is very intuitive, which is very helpful for people who are less savvy with technology. It is easy to create documentation, and also easy to run reports with the Hospice Tools software. Cons One downside to Hospice Tools is that each document I print results in an additional sheet of paper being printed that is unnecessary as it only contains a footer, no data. This results in me using twice the amount of paper every time I need to print documents. June 25, 2025 5.0 Only been using it for less than 90 days and so far it has been the easiest program I have used in my 15 years of nursing. Pros I love being able to open several tools at a time. Being able to visits on your calendar while in a patient's chart is so helpful. Cons When you place a treatment order under the wound table, you have to go out of your current document and go to another document to place the order for it to show up so you can complete your wound document. The training videos provided are TOPS! Prior to the company initiating the use of the program, I was able to go online and look at the videos. When implementation of Hospice Tools began, I was ahead of the game. It’s a wonderful feeling not having to deal with with tedious paper charting and filing. Pros Ease of use. Very user friendly. Promos you right away if there’s a critical piece of information missing. It, Therefore, will not let let you sign until the information is provided. This is good as a check and balance feature. I also appreciate the fact that you can look up ICD codes/diagnoses without exiting the program. Everything is at your fingertips. Cons I like everything thus far. I would have to leave the ‘Cons’ for others. I am pleased with the program. And I can log on from anywhere using my phone, iPad or laptop. Palliative Nurse Practitioner Hospital & Health Care Used the software for: Less than 6 months ### "Hospice Tools Pros and Cons" May 18, 2021 4.0 Overall, I feel that hospice tools has been extremely user-friendly and easy to onboard new staff to use proficiently. As I previously mentioned, I am new to using hospice tools and have never encountered a user question thus far, as I feel that each task is intuitive and self explanatory. Pros I am relatively new to using Hospice Tools (~3 months) and had a pretty seamless transition into it. I have a history with using Epic, which was quite involved, but I became an expert after some time. Hospice Tools is much more user-friendly from the start and very intuitive. Each role (cna, nurse, chaplain, APN, etc) has different documents they need to fill out and the set up of hospice tools makes it very clear which form is for which discipline. I have not run into technical questions since beginning my new role as it seems that each task is very well organized and clear. The new addition of being able to search for phone numbers on the main screen of edocs has saved a lot of time and stress and has been well received! As for timekeeper, my favorite part is that the "travel" selection auto-calculates mileage for reimbursement. That is one less task that the employee needs to handle and has been quite convenient. Cons My biggest gripe with hospice tools is that is does not connect with other healthcare systems. I also dislike some of the formatting on different forms (ie: some boxes for narrative responses are too small to read the entire response). Additionally, I would like a "search" feature within each patient's chart to be able to identify previously discussed topics. For example, if I wanted to know if my patient has ever complained of nausea at past visits, it would be more cohesive to type "nausea" into a search box in their chart and be able to see all instances where "nausea" was mentioned. Pros Nothing impactful, software is very user friendly, so easy to move around and understand. Cons In timekeeper, separating PTO and sick time balances would be great. Also, it would be better if time keeper could be something where you clock in and leaves you clocked in until you clock out in real time-so it stamps actual time. The clock in and out has a feature for on-call but for regular time, it is activity based to track actual times, activities, and documentation which would lose all that detail and validation with a warehouse worker clock in to start your day structure.
