Here's the details on our experience. We're a mid 7 figure LED lighting company with our own products, patents, etc. selling on Shopify and Amazon. 3 months later and we still cannot file any returns with Hellotax because their system is filled with errors and the Shopify upload did not work. Amazon integration does not work - there are errors mislabeling sales as inventory movement between amazon facilities and incorrect sales prices, which will get is in trouble with tax authorities. Shopify integration and upload template does not work - this means you have to manually process your data, but this was not straightforward and no help was ever provided. We had to troubleshoot this process ourselves over the course of a month using trial and error. When we reached out for help multiple times, the account manager knew nothing about their system, VAT, or ecommerce in general. It was bewildering how they knew nothing about their system or VAT taxes. We would ask for help either receive a copy pasted response that had nothing to do with our solution or we would be told they will get back to us with an answer and then never respond. We have now been requesting a refund for 3 weeks, and they kept passing us to other reps and making up excuses. Now they are saying they just won’t give any refund after wasting our time and not keeping up their end of the agreement. We paid them roughly $4,000 for the yearly plan for UK, NL, DE, and OSS VAT filings. We already have our VAT registrations, so we did not need this service from them. We’ve been filing our VAT for a year now, so we know how this process works. These folk are incompetent and shady to think they can keep company's money after so many errors on their part. We’ll see if they finally do the right thing and give us our money back. They have performed NONE of the services we agreed upon, and we have spent so much time trying to make this work. Do NOT work with them. Pros Nothing - a total waste of time. Cons A total waste of time. Errors in sales data would lead to incorrect filings. In our case, there were some delays, which may have been due to our company name - GmbH & Co. Vertriebs KG - a type of company name with which tax offices abroad seem to have problems. This constellation has led to increased costs and increased time expenditure on our part. Registration times CZ - just under a month PL - just under 3 months IT - 4 months ES - 6 months FR - 7 months On the whole, we are satisfied with the result. Although we missed the Christmas business in 3 important countries, we probably started this project too positively. Based on our experience, however, we can draw the following conclusions. Without the experience of hellotax and the local partners, VAT registration in the various countries would only have been possible with a great deal of time and stress. hellotax has kept the real application stress and most of the queries away from us. Pros We were able to register the 5 countries that we urgently need for our business and can now continue to grow locally in these 5 countries. Cons Unfortunately, in the present constellation it is no longer possible to determine whether the problems were on our side or in the communication with hellotax, the communication of hellotax with the local contact persons or the rules on site or at the tax offices. We assumed 1-3 months! But now it's 7 months until the final registration of all 5 countries. Pros \- The consultant did an excellent job explaining the process and even suggested a less expensive plan after fully understanding our needs. - Applying for a VAT ID was straightforward, thanks to the clear instructions provided on which documents we needed to submit. - We encountered issues with the German tax authorities during our VAT ID application. They requested a document that no longer exists due to changes implemented by the Estonian tax authorities. After persistent back-and-forth communication, your consultant successfully convinced the German tax authorities, and our application was approved. - The instructions were clear, and whenever we had questions, the support team responded to our emails very quickly. - Pricing is very competitive.
