Producer/Engineer Entertainment Used the software for: 2+ years ### "Long time user, very happy" March 17, 2023 5.0 At first we used it for multi-streaming to try to grow our audience by pushing to various services and it worked great for that. Now we use it as a relay. It seems to reduce our latency to Twitch and it allows us to do some checks before the show goes live. Pros It was a little less expensive than the competition, which is why we chose it. Over time, we've found it very useful. Even just things like checking the audio video sync before going live... it's a huge advantage to have a service like this. Cons Sometimes it logs me out in the middle of a session. This is just an annoyance, it's not a huge deal but logging back in to start the stream can be a little annoying. It's the best option out there for your live streaming needs I couldn't think of going to another platform. Pros Customer service. Apart from a faultless service, the staff are always eager to answer any questions and help in anyway they can. Fast response times and an understanding attitude. Cons The billing and data allowance information and email alerts are very unclear. I don't know if that is intentional or not but it's the feeling that I get. We stream from OBS weekly and send signals to both Facebook and Youtube. Castr has been a simple solution where I set the streaming info for both sites in Castr, and then only have to log-in and change anything if one of them has a problem with the persistent streaming key. in our weekly use, Castr is NEVER the problem if we encounter any issues. Cons Because we only use a simple feature of the site and are barely scraping the surface, it was a bit overwhelming to set up. They have a lot of social media services preloaded to log in, or just use them with the streaming key Cons I want to use the SRT source connection, but in my trials, it doesn't work reliably (there were glitches in the video), so I have to use the RTMP protocol, despite the increase in latency. When looking at other options on the market, it blows all current freeware out of the water and holds its own again some of the more expensive comparable programmings. We needed something that offered great value for money, with the mandatory requirement of multi-site streaming capabilities. We use Castr each week to livestream to our church Facebook and YouTube pages, and it has been vital in providing a quality production output week in and week out for over 2 years for us. Cons This is less a criticism of Castr, and more of YouTube, one of our two streaming destinations. The integration to our YouTube livestreaming setup is less clean that Facebook. While you can have Castr autofill the details of your service, I have found it more convenient to edit those livestream details directly on YouTube's own website. Reason for choosing Castr The main selling point for us was the cost and value prospect, which I still hold to that Castr is unbeatable for our needs in that respect. Pros We are asked to simulcast our productions to various platforms on a daily basis. The ease that comes with using the Castr platform is a game changer. The remote cloud management that allows me to deploy to different mediums is great. Any problem you have can be resolved in a matter of minutes via live chat.Furthermore, the platform delivers exactly what it promises to do and at a very competitive price. Pros Once I started livestreaming client events, I quickly ran into the problem of multistreaming. Castr was one of the first platforms I tried, and I ended up sticking with it. The ease of use, customer support, and stability of the platform were the main reasons I kept using it.When I need to multistream, I know I can count on Castr to have everything ready in a matter of minutes. Cons Honestly, I have yet to encounter a problem that customer support has not been able to resolve.
