For freelancers, accountants, and small enterprises, it's a fantastic financial solution. The latter group may automate their bills or payments and handle all of their customers from a single platform. Pros A very tidy, straightforward, but effective tool for paying bills and invoices, Payment processing, is quite simple compared to its rivals; it is substantially more productive. This product's flawless integration with our accounting software is why we chose it. Additionally, it eliminates the inconvenience of printing and sending paper checks. Recipient changes of the payment method selected are seamless Cons Improved phone customer service is something I would like to see no other recommendations now. Vendors are added with their Melio links, and those vendors currently in QuickBooks should automatically connect. Now, when you do that, a new vendor is formed and is not connected to the one that presently exists in QuickBooks. Wishlist: It would be nice if there were an option to send international wire transfers in different currencies. If it is wholly linked with Wave Invoicing, it would be fantastic and allow a free connected workflow. Pros It's made my life easier keeping track of each contractor and how much I've paid them over the year making taxes less of a hassle. Cons I'd love to see Melio function with Quicken. I'd like more customization for my own branding with creating and how clients see and receive invoices, giving me logos, names, and branding color options. I use it and recommend it. Pros The ease of use is what I like best about melio. It took no time to setup the account, connect it to my bank and get going. It’s allows you to pay vendors and collect their Banking info in one place. That’s my favorite part. Cons My least favorite part is that it doesn’t appear to create 1099 from the platform though it’s listed in the features. If you can, it’s really tough to find so simplifying that would be helpful. " November 10, 2025 4.0 Pros The software is straight forward and does not require much of a learning curve. The customer support is quick to respond, usually within 20 minutes via the chat support. I chose this software to assist with money transfer and the managing of invoices. I do not recall any fees or charges associated with the software. Set up took all of about thirty minutes, if that. Cons I wanted to love this software, but was unfortunately unable to truly experience its benefits. I have been in business over ten years and have used multiple invoice software companies with no issues. What attracted me the most to Melio was same day and next day ACH transfer. This never happened. I have tried this software several times, and each time I receive a generic email saying the transfer cannot be processed after an internal review. With Melio, I found it quite useful for managing international payments for suppliers and even combining several payments into a single payment. Cons Because I have not been extensively using it, I realized that it does not have enough integrations. Neither does it offer native invoice creation and sending capabilities, as QuickBooks does. It is quite useful for making online payments very quickly. Pros We have managed to make bill payment faster and easier with Melio, making payments to clients in a timely manner. Previously, bill payments were made one by one and this took hours due to the complexity of entering data. Now I only have to upload the bills and Melio does everything for me. I like it because it does the boring work of entering data. Cons I don't think anything went wrong. The only thing I would change is the customer service because they don't provide fast service. Also vendors find it easy to use too. It's a simple system. Cons Security flaws are huge. I have reached out numerous times and get no serious response. Literally any employee or CPA or bookkeeper that I give access to Melio can at will change any vendor ACH information? Anyone. There is no way to prevent it. You have to just hope you dont have a disgruntled employee or book-keeper? What's worse is that there is no alert. No way to be informed. No way to approve. Anyone can change that information if they have access to my Melio account. It's such an obvious avenue for fraud it's stunning and the lack of urgency on fixing it will likely drive me to use a competitor. I just can't take the risk of my money being stolen because we all know Melio will not do much to get it back once it's gone. I'd stay away from Melio until this fixed. Horrible, horrible, horrible." September 17, 2022 1.0 First hopeful. Then confused. Later frustrated and anger. Now disgust and acceptance. Overall a very negative experience when dealing a payment processing service. Pros It’s free, it’s advertised nicely, but there are actual NO pros because they are not a professional service. Cons Customer support is a joke. They responded to my email with 1 sentence that was so vague, I didn’t have any idea what they had requested from me. In summary, they discrimate against sole proprietorships, freelancers, contractors, and self-employees persons. They specify say that they DON’T do this and think that makes everything okay. That’s why I say this is not a professional service. They are fishing for high volume businesses so they can make money on credit card processing. They are dishonest in their advertising. The payment status and tracking has been key to making sure vendors receive payments and deposit them. Pros Melio is an easy app to setup. It's integration into the accounting software is key. It is easy to use and customer service can help with any issues like Stop payments or reissuing payments which saves time on the payables side. It is a benefit that vendors can receive ACH or Checks all with a click of a button! Cons The cost per check can be a con of the product, since we went from using it on its inception it was an inconvenience to have to start paying a fee per payment. however the application is still less expensive than the alternative products. The process time is a bit slow, you have to anticipate about 7 business days before payment is received by a vendor. Pros Melio is a great payment processor, I have a much better experience with them than with their only real competition, Plastiq. While Plastiq has IRS-esque customer service, Melio really go out of their way to ensure a positive user experience. Melio is also faster at processing ACH payments, which is a huge plus. Cons It would be really helpful if Melio offered wire transfers, and aggregate payments (ie, charge 10k to card 1 and 10k to card 2 so as to issue a single payment of 20k). Also, sometimes compliance reviews cause payment delays. They could perhaps offer a cut off before which compliance reviews will not cause delays if the review is passed, that would make the system have more reliable timing. Accountant Accounting Used the software for: 6-12 months ### "Lost our Money" November 21, 2021 1.0 We received notices from Melio for client scheduled payments for $2100 and $455 on \[SENSITIVE CONTENT\]. They were both in the list "In-Progress" on the Melio site/dashboard. \[SENSITIVE CONTENT\] we alerted by one client payment was rejected for no apparent reason (they paid ach) ($455). The other payment for $2100 and totally disappeared from the system - not in anywhere in the Melio dashboard (Paid, In -Progress, unsent or sent). I have grave concerns about their ability to handle transactions. I attempted to contact support but you cannot call - only chat or email and they are of course closed on the weekend. 1 star is for issues as well as lack of ability to contact them for urgent issues like this. This product while I had very high hopes still seems VERY BETA. Not going to gamble my money to help another company test their code. Pros Low cost, simplicity of system, integration with QuickBooks online Cons Support is a challenge. Software is unstable and buggy. Clients are declined for ACH - not sure how or why and payments just disappear ? Product is more beta than stable release. Looking forward to introducing it to and implementing it for more clients in the future. Pros The integration with QBO brings efficiencies that allows me to offer better A/P services to clients. The fact that it is free is also a big plus! Cons I wish that the QBO integration was different. I prefer to use melio from within QBO instead of uising the standalone product, because it's nice to access everything from one place, and because you can view the backup for payments using the "view online payment" button from right inside of QBO. When using the standalone product, the bill payment transaction syncs over just fine to QBO, but the backup has to be attached to the transaction manually. That would be fine if, from inside the melio standalone product, there was a better way to print the payment details to pdf or export the backup some other way. Trying to print to the payment activity to pdf from the web browser never works. The bottom of the details always get cut off. Yes, there are fees when you need to pay by check or quickly but if you are in a regular rhythm it's a great free tool to use! Cons I have no complaints, seriously.
