I don't know how I ever taught without Classtime. The price is incredibly low and the technical support is incredibly good. Pros Far and away the dashboard. I have a fair amount of technical knowledge and experience, and I've never seen such a complete, yet easy-to-use tool. It's like a question-by-question scoreboard of student responses. I can see how students perform on each question, as they submit their responses. I can give them personal feedback through private messages. Using this dashboard I can, from my desk, literally be looking over the shoulder of every student. I also love the Classtime library. I can add entire question sets or only the questions I choose to my library. I can then edit the questions if I wish. I can take the question sets I've created and make them available to other users. I like that I can set time limits on students and I can monitor their progress in real time. Cons Students seem to get confused on how to log in to the software. Pros I love the simplicity of making tests and exams both for sumative and formative assesments. And the session reports are probably the best ever analitcs I've ever seen on any software. My students are organized in classes and they also have their own reports and it is the best feature ever. And challenges, oh, they are the best and students love them. Classtime has everything! It can function for testing purposes, but it can also be used to import video to have kids do activities following segments of viewing. It's easy for the kids to learn to use and works well with Google classroom. The variety of test questions it allows teachers to make and the control it allows teacher to have over when students can answer them, really helps reduce issues that arise with online assessment. I can target all of the standards with this site and even add in my own videos for students to analyze. Kids have reacted wonderfully to the puzzle and animation challenges. Kids are cheering when they get questions right and seeing the results on the screen. Pros There are several question types for me to choose from that will help me mimic SBAC assessments. They are also very user friendly to make my own exams. They have a library tied to Khan Academy and some truly great teacher made assessments that already have several of these question types built in. There is also an engagement aspect to this website which many others like it do not have. Cons It is a little plain looking and doesn't necessarily 'pop' on the screen the way some other sites do. Als Fachschaft kann man sehr gut zusammenarbeiten. Pros Ich bin Lehrerin in einer Klasse die zusätzlich zu ihrem Unterricht auch ein Tablet als Arbeitsmittel verwendet. Ich bin schon lange auf der Suche nach einem guten Prüfungstool gewesen. An Classtime gefallen mir die vielfälltigen Testfragen und die simple Durchführung. Die Teilnahme ist sehr nierderschwellig und gelingt sehr schnell. Besonders stark ist der Fragentyp "offene Antwort". Ich habe bei noch keinem Programm erlebt, dass eine KI mitdenkt und so sicher gleiche Antworten ausfiltert. Unseren Schüler\*innen gefallen die Challanges sehr gut, wo die ganze Klasse gemeinsam mit richtigen Antworten z.B. eine Brücke baut. Das ist eine ganz neue und schöne Form der Übung. Besonders wichtig ist, das Classtime die deutsche Datenschutverordnung einhält. Cons Für Schulen hat die Nutzung einen stolzen Preis, da wir kein Geld verdienen, ist es schwierig die Kosten jährlich aufzubringen. Leider lohnt es sich. Zusätzlich ist es für Teilnehmer\*innen leichter zu verwenden und ich kann mich mit anderen Lehrkräften vernetzen. Classtime ist sehr viel benutzerfreundlicher als Moodle und da wir als Lernplattform auf IServ umgestellt haben, lohnt es sich nicht, Moodle nur für Tests und Prüfungen weiter zu führen. Die Software schafft es zudem mit einfachen Mitteln typische (administrative) Schwierigkeiten aufzufangen, die im Rahmen von online der Stift-Papier Prüfungsformaten an Schulen auftauchen (z.B. Nachklausuren für abwesende Schüler:innen und Klausurrückgabe). Die Software ist bedacht darauf, den Lehrpersonen-aufwand für die Vorbereitung, Korrektur und Administration zu reduzieren, ohne dabei die Qualität der Prüfung zu schmälern. Dies gelingt Classtime sehr gut! Verbesserungspotenzial hat Classtime, aus meiner Sicht, noch bei der Individualisierung des Feedbacks an die Schüler:innen (z.B. Erklärungsmöglichkeit für typische Fehler bei Multiple-Choice oder individuelles schriftliches Kurzfeedback bei Freitextantworten). Gelingt dies (evt. auch mit neuen Funktionen) so macht Classtime Unterricht und Schule nicht nur zeitlich effizienter und abwechslungsreicher, sondern auch bezüglich des Feedbacks qualitativ besser als herkömmliche Papier-Stift Prüfungsformate. Pros Mit den Fragentypen von Classtime lassen in verschiedenen Fachunterrichten summative und formative Feedbacks vorbereiten, die schnell ausgewertet werden können. Die Konstruktion der Software ist sorgfältig durchdacht, so dass sich typische Schwierigkeiten des Schulalltags (Nachklausuren, begrenzte IT-Anwendungskompetenzen von Schüler:innen, Administration und Rückgabe von Klausuren, etc.) mit den eingebauten Funktionen von Classtime gut bewältigen lassen. Z.B. können SuS ihre Ergebnisse zu unterschiedlichen Sessions (auch von verschiedenen Lehrpersonen) direkt online und auch im Nachhinein noch einsehen. Die Einsicht von Lösungen lässt sich auch nach der Korrektur sperren, so das z.B. für Nachklausuren nicht zwingend ein neues Fragenset erstellt werden muss. Cons Für sämtliche Frageformen können zwar Musterlösungen / Musterantwort angegeben werden, die dann von den Schüler:innen auch eingesehen werden können. Nach meinem Wissensstand ist diese Funktion aber im Moment noch ausbaufähig und könnte verbessert werden, z.B. in dem sich im Feld für Musterlösungen der Text formatieren liesse (fett drucken / kursiv schreiben), man Bilder einfügen könnte, oder es z.B. möglich wäre bei Multiple / Single-Choice je nach ausgewählter falscher Aussage eine Erklärung zu verfassen, warum diese Antwort falsch ist. Bei Freitext-Aufgaben ist es, nach meinem Kenntnisstand, zwar möglich die Antworten punktemässig mit KI auszuwerten (was gut funktioniert!), man kann aber zu den einzelnen Schüler:innenantworten kein persönliches Feedback / Feedbacktext geben. Verbesserungen in den angesprochenen Bereichen würden aus meiner Sicht den Lerneffekt der Schüler:innen bei der Durchsicht ihrer Resultate erhöhen. September 4, 2020 5.0 I used to navigate the Internet looking for programs to engage my students. Now I use Classtime at the beginning of class as a warm-up to get my students engaged and excited about what's to come. I also pair them up to get some friendly competition going and when assessment time comes they can review their performance tasks every Friday in small groups. I've also used the program when I have 15 minutes to cover quickly. It's been a life saver. I highly recommend it. Pros It provides a fast way to engage students whether you're introducing a subject, reviewing or checking for understanding. It also lends itself to cooperative learning. The vast library includes so many subjects and levels I just have to go and search for what I need and it's there. Cons To have the feature, that students can see their marks for tests without opening the answers for the test. It is also user-friendly as it connects quickly to google classroom. It is both easy and effective. Cons I feel I only know how to use Classtime for assessments. Cons A primary improvement to suggest for this software/platform is its ability to have the questions reviewable after a challenge. Interactive challenges are fun and engaging ways to start a review before an exposition of the new topic, hence, reviewing recall questions is essential to smoothly create a springboard to a new topic. Teacher E-Learning Used the software for: 1-2 years ### "Classtime for Assessment" April 1, 2022 5.0 I used this doing the Pandemic months to assess my students with more ease and they were able to guide themselves through the questions. I have now implemented using it at least once a month to assess on concepts for quick data. Pros This product was very user-friendly. I had not trouble navigating to lessons or adding my own questions when I felt it was needed. Automatic scoring cut down on my grading time also. Cons I got some feedback from the students that they didn't "love " the site. I don't believe there was enough bells and whistles to keep them engaged.
