February 5, 2022 5.0 Currently, we are looking into the ability to locate a driver by employee ID when they go "off duty "in HOS. Previously, in 2021, the Geotab customer service representative who oversees the company account conducted an onsite training/refresher with the DOT team at which time the DOT manager inquired about a way to separate light duty vehicles from regulated tractors this was a time-consuming stressor. The inquiry was addressed and resolved that same day! Huge time and money saver for the company! Geotab has stellar customer service from the initial inquiry, the resolution and always a follow up for any feedback the customer may want to provide. In person, a phone call , or an email ..Geotab will take great care of you . Pros The plethora of resources that Geotab offers are outstanding! Geotab resources include YouTube (check out Wild Card Wednesdays, subscribe to their blog, their online community, newsletters, webinars, how-to videos and more! The resources are what I like and admire most. Cons Honestly, I cannot state that I have any cons. I suppose I can admit that it takes a minute to adjust when my interface changes. Decided to switch to an all in one provider. Pros The software was the most positive part of the system Cons Hard to dig for data, geotabs did not always work, customer service was poor, not technical in install support. Safety Manager Transportation/Trucking/Railroad Used the software for: 1-2 years ### "Hope to see Geotab get better" January 8, 2020 3.0 Electronic logging devices are new to our industry and of course we know there are so many new issues we are experiencing and a learning curve as well. The old problems went away with ELD's but new ones have come up that must be addressed. With each new update to the Geotab program, the device gets better and better. On a whole I would say troubleshooting has been hard, communicating with the program developers/management. Issues we have come across are not taken seriously unless you have gone through so many steps to troubleshoot half of your day is shot with one truck/driver. We are lucky if that takes a day. We have had issues take weeks. It is very micro management intense. I am looking forward to updates everyday as those elusive program developers get it right once in a while... Pros Since my company leases the trucks we use, and the leasing company has gone to Geotab for the ELD of their choice. We chose this to keep drivers ease of transition from our truck to the sub truck when ours is in the shop for maintenance. The driver can use any smart device to log in to the Geotab app. This has worked pretty good. Some like their smart phones and others like to use the tablets installed in our trucks. Cons We do not like the structure the Geotab company goes by. Beware who you buy from and use as your provider as anybody can provide this service and they are only as good as they want to be. Find somebody who has a great customer service reputation. We would also want you to be aware there is a disconnect between software engineers and customer needs. We as a customer, are at their mercy and we get caught up between the regulations we have to follow and a software support that will ghost you when you are having issues. The level of customization possible with Geotab's reports, integrations, and SDK make it a solid product overall. Pros Geotab can be customized to meet a lot of different customers' needs. My favorite part of the solution is probably the custom reporting that can be done via Excel reports to tailor the presentation of aggregated data so that it is more readable and actionable when going to various groups within organization. Cons Geotab seems to be trending updates toward burying common functionality under more layers of options, which has made the software a bit less intuitive. I also find it difficult to find things quickly in their system ever since they removed the colors from the navigation bar and removed other visual clues that made the UX much more pleasant (I have given this three years to try to adjust and make sure this isn't a "learners curve" issue, and I believe it is still a real issue as I still have difficulty with it after all this time). Customer service has been responsive and helpful. Pros The ability to quickly know if one of our people is in a hazardous situation so we can send help. It also integrates with another platform (JESI) to give us even better visibility and safety for employees who are travelling for work. Cons Difficult to answer, we haven't found any major problems with the product yet. One shortfall is that we don't have a good solution yet for our people who are hiring a vehicle for a single journey - there's a risk they'll plug the GeoTab unit in but forget to take it out at the end of their journey. Installation took a little time and we did have 3 dead units arrive but they were quickly swapped out for new ones. Overall the installation for certain trucks did require removal of dashboards however the majority of the trucks were a quick and easy plug and play. Pros Very easy to navigate, cloud based system with scalable features and reporting that allow me to better manage our fleet and a various number of metrics that each user can add or remove to suite their own needs. Cons Support up front at time of sale and roll out was great but slowly fell off after the fact. Training was lacking, there are a lot of videos on youtube for self training however we would have preferred a more direct hands on approach. This is not due to the product itself however, this is due to the reseller of Geotab as they only sell through distributors. Reason for choosing Geotab easy to install, price point was where we needed it, the dashboard and metric options were robust enough to satisfy a number of different departmental needs.
