It makes patching much easier by helping us identify missing patches, schedule deployments, and monitor patch status from one place. There are a few areas that could be improved. Sometimes patch failures are difficult to troubleshoot because the error details are not very clear. Also, patching can consume quite a bit of space on the C: drive. It would be helpful to have an easier option to use a dedicated drive for downloading and storing patches, especially on servers with limited C: drive space. Apart from these points, it has been a useful tool and saves us a lot of manual effort. Pros I like the centralized management and automation the most. It significantly reduces the manual effort involved in identifying and deploying missing patches across multiple servers and endpoints. The ability to schedule deployments, manage third-party application updates, and quickly check patch compliance from one console is very useful. Cons The main drawback is that troubleshooting failed patches can sometimes be difficult because the error details are not always clear. Reporting could also be more flexible, with better customization and more detailed failure information. and the patching process can consume a significant amount of disk space on the C: drive, especially when multiple missing patches are downloaded and stored. This can become a concern on customer servers where the OS drive has limited free space. Network reliant patching would have been a major headache without PMP. Deployments are very easy to manage and report on. My favourite element of the main dashboard is the RSS of latest security news which links directly to patch updates. Cons Reporting is slightly weak - it has gotten better recently but this is one of the more lacking aspects of the suite. (e.g. the client scans for installed software but can't report on it...) Pros It's fairly easy to get up and deployed. We came from using SCCM which requires a large amount of setup and constant maintenance to manage. Cons The reporting leaves a lot to be desired. I wish I could do category breakdown of patch compliance by criticality as well as first party vs third party patching compliance.
