Our developers were able to quickly integrate this with our existing codebase, and our users love it. Pros We initially used the JavaScript solution in our PWA (progressive web app), which worked great. It allowed our web app to use a mobile device's camera to scan licenses & import all data into our systems. After initial setup, it worked flawlessly for our users, and was simple, intuitive and required zero training. Our web app has grown & morphed into an Ionic Hybrid app that is available in the iOS App Store & Google PlayStore. Although the initial javascript implementation still worked, we upgraded to the Capacitor version to gain additional controls over the device's camera functionality, such as using the flash's torch feature. This helped users to easily scan drivers licenses, even in low light situations. Cons As with any new software component, there are integration issues. However, with the help of Dynamsoft' support team, we were able to quickly overcome these issues, as well as get our questions answered in a timely basis. Reason for choosing Dynamsoft Barcode Reader The demo app on Dynamsoft.com was easy to use & we were quickly able to demonstrate it's value to our stakeholders. Integrating into our software was like "plug-and-play".Scanning speed and quality is outstanding! Even with simple 1Mpix cameras QR-codes are scanned flawlessly fast! Cons Licensing model has one little annoyance - Licence seats are "freed" once every 90 days if device is not used.Really wish it was a bit reduced to say - 30 days. There are plenty of examples and documentation. The support team is top tier and responds very quickly. Overall, we have been using this product for years without any issues. Cons The licensing is fairly complex and in most cases requires a check-in with the dynamsoft servers. An auto renew feature would be nice. Having to upgrade the license for each new version of the SDK is also a little frustrating. Reason for choosing Dynamsoft Barcode Reader The Dynamsoft reader was much more reliable and feature rich. Overall the Dynamsoft Barcode Reader has provided what I needed. Pros I wanted a javascript library that allowed all of the processing to be done on the client and doesn't make a call back to a central server. Dynamsoft Barcode Reader met these requirements. When I an considering purchasing software, the technical support is also a very important part of the decision. I have always received timely and helpful responses when I have needed assistance. Cons I had a difficult time changing some of the scanner resolution settings to get the software to work across multiple browsers. Technical support helped me resolve this issue though. Reason for choosing Dynamsoft Barcode Reader The other software options I considered were priced based on the number of scans in a given period of time. We have all different kinds of products tested on our systems, therefore the barcodes have to be recognized fast and are applied to many different materials. Our experience with Dynamsoft was outstanding. Pros The component has very strong recognition capabilities even if you use the default settings. With all the options the component offers you can easily adjust settings to get great results even in sophisticated scenarios. The integration in our .NET environment was very smooth. Cons Parts of the api are in my opinion a little too flexible, i.e. the recognition area can be specified in a json based way which is error prone and from the api usage perspective not very practical. Pros For our end consumer of the associated product, the ease of use is extremely important. While in the past there was some level of difficulty in upgrading the established product to the new release version, at least Dynamsoft technical staff were able to assist the development team in getting the upgraded version incorporated and functional within our product. Pros The integration is very easy and the customer support is also great. Cons It's maybe not particularly the software, but we have customers that experience issues with the connection to the scanner on their iPad.
