Pros

As an excel-native business, I appreciate the flexibility to build any reports that I need to directly in excel. Implementation was extremely smooth.

Cons

I suspect this may still be a challenging tool to use for some of our less tech-savvy team members and it may not scale to a true enterprise FP&A platform as we grow.

Pros

Intergration between Xero / Excel and the ability to be able to create dashboards and format data between systems to display in a informative format.

Cons

Xero issue mainly but the sync function limitations. Formuals blow my mind but our FP&A accountant has run with it!

My overall experience has been very positive. The implementation team was able to get me up to speed, and also help me build a lot of custom reports that fit my business and the metrics that are important to me.

Pros

I like that Datarails consolidates all of your financial data into one location, while also enabling a lot of customization. The implementation time is fantastic and really helped get me up to speed in a short amount of time. Special thanks to \[sensitive content hidden\] for all of his help along the way.

Cons

Not much that I haven't liked about Datarails, other than at times the platform gets bogged down and takes a long time to refresh. That's the worst that I have to say though. Outside of that, everything has been great.

I have been very impressed by how quickly our finance team has been able to adopt and build new Dashboards as well as understanding how to import Budgets and Forecasts to produce management reporting. Our implementation manager has \[sensitive content hidden\] has been excellent in his understanding of our requirements and his ability to pass his knowledge on to our staff.

Pros

I like and I'm sure our Finance Team would agree that the Excel interface is a familiar friend that has been easy to relate to and has made learning the product easier than it might otherwise have been.

Cons

Although we have not experienced issues I can see how the system could be a steep learning curve for non-finance Users.

Pros

refreshing data makes for easier month end. I like having all the actuals, budgets and year to date in one spreadsheet. Clicking one button

Cons

When formulas are not working - hard to understand how they broke or what happened. Understanding how Datarails pulls information from the COA is not always easy.

Love it! I originally signed up because of the sales pitch of "financial statements at the click of a button" and it really is that easy! It has saved me DAYS of time, creating and analyzing reports. Since the base reporting is so quick for me now, I focus my time on adding more reporting and analysis to ensure Stakeholders have all the information they need and more!

Pros

Ease of use. Once you get the hang of the formulas and the online interface, the options for creating meaningful reporting are unlimited. My financial reporting improves EVERY month as I figure out additional data that can be uploaded, mapped, and displayed for Stakeholders.

Cons

Constantly linking the excel sheets to the database. Really not a big deal, but if I had to pick something it would be that. I save my files in Datarails and ensure that I pull the file from Datarails before beginning any report to ensure that I have the most up to date one, and that it is already linked to Datarails.

Overall good. I have not been able to recognize the impacts but can see where it is possible. It's all about time now to integrate the tool into my processes.

Pros

Reporting tools like the Dashboards and Storyboards. The Excel add-in functionality is great. This should really improve my overall process.

Cons

Integration has been more difficult than I expected. The ERP system I use is not as friendly as I thought making it difficult to integrate the data. Some elements I'm having to download and load manually to be able to use the system.

Cons

often we have to spend time using forumalns to adjust expectation int shoutout. As a small team this Cretes risk as only one person has knowledge of the forumalns and changes. Is there a way to standardise output ?

Pros

I love how quick and easy it is to get down to the details when I need more information on a specific P&L line.

Cons

I wish it would refresh reports faster - but I guess this is an issue with how large and complex our database is!

Datarails has been an absolute gem compared to the first FP&A software we had tried to implement. Once we integrated our raw data into the tool, conducting analysis, reconciling our FS, and generating executive dashboards have actually worked.

Pros

Ease of use, scalability and dashboards are user friendly.

Cons

Integration to our ERP system was more difficult than expected due to not having the expertise of both Workato and our system.

My experience has been great. When I am given a tool to use at work, I want it to be quick to setup, easy to grasp, and for it to run smoothly. So far, Datarails has nailed all those needs.

Pros

The ease of use. Once I got my accounted created and set everything up with Excel, I was up and running rather quickly. I have had 0 problems since I started using Datarails.

Cons

I haven't run into any issues yet, so nothing! I started using Datarails in January of 2026, and after nearly 3 full months of use, it's been great.

Overall, my experience has been pretty good. My primary contact understands our end goal and has been able to assist in either creating the dashboards/widgets/reports needed or helping walk me through some of them. Sometimes, I feel like it is information overload, but in the end, it is what my team needs to understand where we stand financially.

Pros

Visually appealing. There are so many opportunities to show your data to your organization in a way that most can understand. You don't have to be in finance to be able to appreciate it.

Cons

It is not intuitive. There is quite a bit of a learning curve when it comes to importing data and molding it correctly to give out the data you're looking for. The report building and formulas are pretty complex. I'm good at Excel but this takes the cake. I thought the process would be quicker to get our data into datarails.

Pros

The compatibility with Excel and the features it has and prospects to have. I also liked that the customer service is always there if there is something wrong going on. In other words, customer service seems like a perk of Datarails.

Cons

The dashboards should have more options for customization. For example, when selecting a cell in dashboard table, for the whole row or column to highlight depending on the objective.

Datarails has been great in getting us the help we need to get not only our financials more easily displayed, but get employees up to date with processes as well.

Pros

Datarails makes financial analytics much smoother than before. You are able to knock out the data collection portion of financial tasks in nearly an instant, and if you are capable with the system even get it to the point it does a majority for you.

Cons

The user interface can be rough to pick up on when using the mapper and other tools. The help course videos are great and will get you up to speed but it can be a bear without them.
