Paralegal Law Practice Used the software for: 2+ years ### "Simple and functional" December 9, 2019 5.0 LawPay makes it super easy for us to take card payments. It replaced PayPal, which isn't suited to the kind of accounting we have. LawPay is specifically designed to work with legal bookkeeping software. Pros LawPay blends seamlessly with Cosmolex, so we can process card payments from the software we actually use daily. LawPay automatically generates invoices which we can email to customers. The only time we actually have to go to the LawPay website is to process a refund, which I think we've done once in the approximately three years we've used this software. Cons The card swipe function seems redundant to me, but that could just be the nature of our business. It's faster for me to type in card information than swipe - not really a complaint, just a personal preference. I highly recommend it if you do any legal business and payments at all. Pros Lawpay is an incredibly easy, seamless payment experience for the average legal customer/client. It could not have been easier to get paid for my work. Cons I rarely do legal work on the side, so the flat fees (despite no revenue coming in this method) were eating up my tiny profits. Pros I like that a receipt is automatically emailed to the client and to the attorneys of the firm upon payment being made. May 20, 2021 5.0 Our office uses LawPay to allow clients to pay bills, retainers, etc. It has been a great tool in simplifying payment processes and cutting down on lag time, operator and user error, and improving the efficiency of the office. Highly recommend! Pros I love how easy it is to make a payment or receive a payment with LawPay. It has been such a lifesaver for the office, because clients can easily pay bills without worrying that a check has been lost in the mail or misrouted, etc. Such a great tool! Cons I don't actually have any complaints! I really like the software, and I think anytime I have come across an issue, it was actually in how it was set up for the office and not inherent in the software. The fees are low for what you're getting and they never draw money out of the trust account. This is an easy and simple way to get retainers from clients and to get bills paid. Pros This program is extremely user friendly. There are several positives when using this program as opposed to others. First, you can send a link directly to clients in order for them to pay their bills online with a credit/debit card or by e-check. This makes the process streamlined and easy. Further, you can re-charge a client instead of having to enter their information every time they call to make a payment. This cuts down on time and makes the payment process easy and effective. Cons Occasionally, the software doesn't send e-mails to clients right away, which can delay things a bit. Further, you cannot see the client's card number in the event that you need that information. Pros This portal is so easy to move through, and the clients have an easy time pay their statements. I can easily update client accounts with payments, entering time and review statements. Pros I love the ease and ability to have our clients pay their invoices to us online and how secure it is. Cons The fees! Pros The analytics and how easy it was for clients abroad to make payment using this software. Cons Few times, the payment took awhile before it was deposited into the company account and sometimes the charges stung. Pros Ease of use, integration with Practice Panther for invoices to pay on site or online. Cons I never could get Lawpay or Practice Panther to resolve the issue of choosing between multiple accounts to receive payments. Each said it was the other's problem. I suspect it was a Practice Panther software issue, but they should have resolved it between them since it was advertised to work that way. Cons There really have not been any cons thus far. The only downside is sometimes client place funds in the wrong account. Everything is taken care of and transparent when the software is set up, and it takes no time to learn and use. What really makes LawPay superior though is their customer service. Anytime I have a question or want to know how to do something, all I do is call the customer service number and immediately I am connected to a live person in the U.S. who knows where I'm calling from after I give them my name. I never have to wait on hold or answer questions that are as confusing as LSAT logic questions just to get an answer to my question. Also, the person I speak with, even if it's a different one each time, is always able to give me a quick answer or provide an easy to understand explanation. Pros It is easy to learn and use and the customer service is second to none. I eventually left LawPay for Gravity because I needed a simpler, more cost effective product. Gravity's customer service is much better. Pros It was easy to use. It's convenient and couples well with MyCase., law firm management software. Pros Easy to set-up and use. Quick Invoice is handy. Report function allows me to review my activities. Cons It takes 3-4 days for money to appear on my bank account. Should be almost automatic. Reason for choosing 8am LawPay Recommended by other attorneys. Pros The ease of setting up this product and the ease of use is second to none. The added bonus is that the associated service fee makes sure that we don't have to spend any more money than is necessary to facilitate a transaction. Cons There is really not a whole lot to complain about concerning this product. At first, the user interface was a little tricky to figure out; however, once they updated the software, it cured all problems. We were using lawpay before, but did not have it linked to our account so we were still having to enter everything into cosmolex. Now when they pay through the link, it processes and pays the invoice automatically! Pros I love how easily this works with cosmolex. The integration is perfect and makes billing almost effortless for me.
