Managing Attorney Law Practice Used the software for: 2+ years ### "Versatile payment platform" March 20, 2026 5.0 Overall, I have appreciated Lawpay, being a platform I have been a member on for more than 7 years. It's cheap and versatile enough that I can see being a member for a lot longer, though if it stays expensive and other platforms get cheaper, I'll also be open to doing more business on another platform to save money. Pros Lawpay is pretty easy to use. It's a versatile tool, makes it easy to get paid. I appreciated that there are very few bugs and issues when using it. The tool has good security, and makes clients feel comfortable. Cons Biggest thing I don't like is the cost. I used to love that eChecks were so cheap, but now they charge a percent of the fee along with the credit card fees. And while not completely out of the ballpark, it feels like Lawpay is a bit more expensive than other platforms. And it feels like other CMS platforms are moving away from supporting the Lawpay integration, which can complicate things. Have been using 8am/LawPay for well over two decades and would highly recommend the product to anyone that asks. Pros We receive very secure payments, processing times, great support with disputes, extremely professional services, and overall great reporting. Have always valued the security aspects of it. Cons Wish it would integrate more with different platforms, and not require manual payments to be entered. I haven’t had problems using the program and the cost is reasonable. Pros I like that it offers clients a variety of ways to make payments. I also like that it can be easily used within my case management program. Cons I wish reporting was clearer. Pros I appreciate that Law Pay is specifically designed for law firms, its easy to create branded payment pages and payments are done super quickly. Cons I wish I could search the QuickBooks back by scrolling. As well our firm includes the attorneys name, and it happens to be common, and when searching clients with the same last name, it doesnt filter out the other clients due to the office name. (Search Rodriguez, it shows all transactions including that name and because the firm name includes Rodriguez, it doesn't filter anything. Review Source RZ Rob Z. The learning curve is almost non-existent because the program and options are so easy to use. LawPay makes getting paid quicker and easier. On the rare occasion that we have an issue, it is fairly easy to communicate with someone and get the issue resolved. Pros It's secure and user friendly. Our clients seem to like the ease of paying through a payment link rather than having to give their credit/debit card information over the phone or coming to the office in person. Pros It is a simple tool for us to use in processing credit card payments. It runs in the background and I don’t have to do anything for it to work. I am not sure why MyCase swithced everyone over to LawPay. MyCase Payments worked well for us for several years. Pros Fortunately, it has been a fairly smooth transition to LawPay from MyCase Payments. It seems to be working well so far. Cons We were told that MyCase was switching everyone over to LawPay. Pros I am glad we are able to provide potential clients with financing options that we previously were unable to do. We have had numerous clients be able to retain once being approved whereas they wouldn't have been able to otherwise. Cons I don't like that it doesn't (from what I have seen) sync over automatically into 8am MyCase. We have had to record the payments in 8am MyCase after they've gone through 8am LawPay. Cons The credit card processor device has not been working every time lately and we have to type in all of the card information and billing adress. this takes a while when the client is standing in front of you, waiting. Alternatives considered [Clio](https://www.capterra.com/p/105428/Clio/) Reason for choosing 8am LawPay Clio cost a little more to use the electronic payment option and wasn't quite as organized and simple to use. It is 100% better than using the old school credit card machines, and this gives our clients the ability to do this on their own and at their convenience, whether our firm is open or not. Pros It is very quick and easy to take a payment from a client. It is very easy so send them a direct link to pay and easy to link to our website to make a payment and direct them there to complete the process. Cons Some clients complain about the limits of making echeck payments. It is a bit complicated how the payments are batched together from the credit card companies when they hit our bank, but I don't think LawPay can control that much, if at all.
