“I used to love that eChecks were so cheap, but now they charge a percent of the fee along with the credit card fees. And while not completely out of the ballpark, it feels like Lawpay is a bit more expensive than other platforms. And it feels like other CMS platforms are moving away from supporting the Lawpay integration, which can complicate things.“

### "Agrxis Review on LawPay"

May 22, 2023

5.0

I've had excellent results generally with LawPay. LawPay has given me a secure and effective payment processing system that has tremendously streamlined my financial operations as a legal professional. The platform's user-friendly design and smooth connection with my current systems have made managing and reconciling payments exceedingly straightforward. I like LawPay's dedication to data security and PCI compliance because it gives me confidence that the private information of my clients is well-protected. An additional benefit that has allowed me to accept payments without paying exorbitant costs is LawPay's competitive processing rates. The team has also been courteous and knowledgable whenever they responded, despite sporadic delays in customer assistance.

Pros

The smooth and secure payment processing experience LawPay provides is what I liked most about it, and I am very happy with it. As a lawyer, I appreciate LawPay's ease of use and dependability when it comes to processing client payments. I have saved a significant amount of time and work by managing and reconciling payments with ease thanks to the platform's connection with my current systems. Additionally, I feel secure knowing that my clients' private financial information is well-protected because to LawPay's dedication to data security and PCI compliance. Another significant benefit is the affordable processing rates provided by LawPay, which enable me to accept debit and credit card payments without paying exorbitant costs.

Cons

Even though I am typically happy with LawPay, I would have to say that the customer service experience was the least enjoyable. In a few cases, I ran into delays in receiving a response to my questions or finding a solution. These delays can be annoying at times as someone who values effective and timely customer service. However, I must point out that the support staff was friendly and knowledgable once I did get a response.

### "One of the best payment processors for Law Firms"

October 20, 2025

5.0

Pros

Very simple to use both from a customer point of view and on the backend as well. They have a great customer support team as well who is very helpful.

Cons

The reporting on the system is not the greatest and the time available to issue a refund (only 6 months) can sometimes make it difficult especially when you are utilizing a trust account with LawPay.

### "If you use it right can make it very easy to accept payment"

December 11, 2019

4.0

Customer payments. It is a great solution if your business is sending out invoices. The fees that they take whether debt or credit are pretty high.

Pros

The dashboard is good and intuitive. Easy to send out bills and invoices. The payment links are easy to follow and probably the best feature of LawPay.

Cons

The canned emails are not great. You need to re-write with your own specific message or better yet copy the link and send it in an email or as a link in your invoices. The fees are very high and I hate that they send the statements in the mail and they are not accessible online.

Less intuitive for clients. LawPay when you do the work is easy for clients to pay.

### "Streamlined, Secure, and Efficient"

December 5, 2025

5.0

Overall, 8am LawPay is a dependable and user-friendly solution for client payments. While there is room for more customizable reporting features, the platform consistently delivers secure and efficient service.

Pros

LawPay provides a secure, compliant, and straightforward solution for managing client payments, reducing administrative work and ensuring smooth billing operations.

Cons

That clients can't pay via echeck when sent through Lawmatics. Also, the Reporting options could be more customizable, and some features take extra steps to complete.

### "LawPay is spectactular! "

June 12, 2025

5.0

We are pleased! LawPay has been easy to work with, and it streamlines the process for gathering funds from clients.

Pros

LawPay is userfriendly, easy to navigate, easy to teach new hires, and serves all purposes it was created for. It is the best program I've ever used for collecting legal fees. I appreciate that it works coincisely with MyCase!

Cons

I can't say there are many Cons that I've noticed. I would venture to say there are a few additional features we could be using and don't.

### "Making business less busy"

February 9, 2024

5.0

Pros

Hours were spent recording and calculating bills and payments and remaining balances and sending clients reports, before. So much time has been freed up for our firm by using LawPay. Plus, the fact that we can now accept any form of payment a client may possibly need is incredibly valuable.

Cons

The credit card processor device has not been working every time lately and we have to type in all of the card information and billing adress. this takes a while when the client is standing in front of you, waiting.

Alternatives considered

[Clio](https://www.capterra.com/p/105428/Clio/)

Reason for choosing 8am LawPay

Clio cost a little more to use the electronic payment option and wasn't quite as organized and simple to use. There was only a small difference but still made it easier to make the decision.

### "Law Pay: Benefits and Drawbacks"

October 17, 2025

5.0

Overall, it has been great, the customer service team is always helpful and quick, similar to their processing system which we have been very pleased with.

Pros

I appreciate that Law Pay is specifically designed for law firms, its easy to create branded payment pages and payments are done super quickly.

Cons

I wish I could search the QuickBooks back by scrolling. As well our firm includes the attorneys name, and it happens to be common, and when searching clients with the same last name, it doesnt filter out the other clients due to the office name. (Search Rodriguez, it shows all transactions including that name and because the firm name includes Rodriguez, it doesn't filter anything.

### "Secure, Convenient, and Easy to Use"

October 17, 2025

5.0

It is very easy to use. On the rare occasion that we have an issue, it is fairly easy to communicate with someone and get the issue resolved.

Pros

It's secure and user friendly. Our clients seem to like the ease of paying through a payment link rather than having to give their credit/debit card information over the phone or coming to the office in person.

Cons

I really don't have any complaints at this time. I am not a fan of the periodic two step verification, but I understand it's necessary to maintain security.

### "Easy peasy"

May 25, 2025

5.0

Excellent. Anytime we have had any kind of issue they have been very responsive and easy to work with.

Pros

It is a simple tool for us to use in processing credit card payments. It runs in the background and I don’t have to do anything for it to work.

Cons

I would prefer for the card processing fee to be removed at the point of sale versus in a monthly deduction from our account.

### "My Experience with 8am LawPay Over the Past Six Months"

October 27, 2025

5.0

It has been easy to send over links for payment and it has been beneficial to the business to be able to offer the financing options.

Pros

I am glad we are able to provide potential clients with financing options that we previously were unable to do. We have had numerous clients be able to retain once being approved whereas they wouldn't have been able to otherwise.

Cons

I don't like that it doesn't (from what I have seen) sync over automatically into 8am MyCase. We have had to record the payments in 8am MyCase after they've gone through 8am LawPay.

### "Easiest payment system to use"

October 10, 2024

5.0

Overall, a great experience and I have no complaints.

Pros

Easy to use and navigate. We never experienced any issues with LawPay and it does integrate with Smokeball.

Cons

They don't offer the card swiper anymore and i wish they hadn't gotten rid of it so we could continue to use it with other devices in our office instead of entering payment manually.

Love the convenience of it and the friendly staff.

Pros

Cons

### "Overall Love LawPay, 1 Fix"

January 26, 2024

4.0

Please help Farrar Law Firm get this 3% processing fee automatically added to all payments made through LawPay. Overall LawPay is wonderful.

Pros

The convenience, the streamlined program allows us to quickly send invoices out for replenishment retainers, I can take payment during client meetings with ease. I'm able to access historical data with no problems. Overall every firm should offer LawPay.

Cons

My only criticism is that LawPay does not automatically add the 3% fee for Farrar Law Firm. I have personally utilized LawPay at multiple firms and this was included at those offices. It is currently up to the staff or the client to figure out what the 3% is and add it up, which has caused problems for us in the past when client's forget and simply pay the figure. Our firm has lost money having to forfeit that 3% because our client didn't know any better or we didn't have a chance to inform them prior to them making the payment.

It works just fine, we can pass along some of the fees to the clients, hard to know exactly what we are paying. No different than other cc processing companies, but compliant.

Pros

I like that it is compliant with legal ethical rules.

Cons

I don't like that I don't know exactly what I am paying for fees.

### "A great asset for any law practice"

October 28, 2019

5.0

Overall a great resource for any practitioner--but especially a solo looking for an affordable and modern solution for merchant processing.

Pros

The flexibility of use of the merchant processor by far is its best asset--from emailing invoices to clients for them to pay via a secure webpage to automated payments for payment plans. Also, the option of linking Lawpay to both operating and trust (IOLTA) accounts is great.

Cons

No option for charging credit/debit cards outside the United States--it is unfortunate that Lawpay has not yet created an option for practices that rely on clients that are foreign nationals or are temporarily abroad. The other more inconvenience more than anything else is that Lawpay's merchant fees are not accessible on the web portal, rather, you have to rely on monthly statements by mail (or check bank statements).
