“With the continuous expansion of our network also demands the inclusion of more MR devices, these are notoriously more expensive although comparing the cost/benefit ratio is worth the investment, however, one of the limitations for this type of network is its close dependence on the internet connection to perform advanced technical configurations on the devices, everything related to ACS configuration, MAC filtering (black or white list) as it does not allow such configurations locally limiting it to communication with the central administration.“

### "Great for a large range of businesses"

April 12, 2021

5.0

Overall we are pleased with our Meraki purchase and installation. We used a system integrator to obtain it but looking back we could have saved some money doing it ourselves but the quick onboarding and initial setup by the integrator ensured we got running quickly

Pros

Meraki is a cloud based product that controls on premises and remote hardware. The hardware is top of the line and includes all the functions you would expect from an exterprise offering. Given the broad number of options and the cloud based always updating nature of this product if fill many needs and be adopted by most organizations.

Cons

Some of the navigation takes some getting used to and I wish it would flow more but there are so many features that building a fluid navigation gets tough, even for Cisco. The graphing could also be better and offer additional options when you need more details but generally it will fill most needs.

We had performance issues with VOIP on our previous product and we could not solve it. With Meraki it was a non issue and everything just worked.

May 2, 2025

Meraki is a great platform. Easy to use. Pretty simple to configure. Meraki makes troubleshooting easy due to the robust telemetry.

Pros

I really appreciate the amount of information I have about my networks at any given time. I really like the remote agent too!

Cons

I wish there was a dark mode. Most of my apps are set to dark mode, so when looking at Meraki, it takes just a second to get used to it.

### "A cloud infrastructure that optimizes our services"

August 9, 2023

4.0

There are many benefits of taking our network infrastructure to the cloud, operating costs, software licensing, hardware maintenance, security systems and disaster protection are some of the costs that reduces an organization with such implementation, on the other hand, accessibility from anywhere in the world and manage the network offers very broad possibilities for any IT team, Cisco Meraki in its various products has given us the ability to manage a wireless ecosystem deployed in a fairly large geographical area with the administration from the cloud, this allows us to detect anomalies in real time, view bandwidth consumption in a timely manner and a large number of functions that makes the administrative work of the network a little easier.

Pros

Cisco Meraki has allowed us to evolve our network infrastructure and the way we interact with this, there are clear details that make this a highly balanced, sustainable and accessible network, due to its on cloud environment has reduced locative, operational and maintenance costs associated with the equipment installed on these sites; aspects to highlight within the Meraki environment I can mention their equipment (Access Point) in our case, these are robust equipment, resistant to different outdoor environments, easy configuration (plug and play) and administration in the remote console, in addition, provides a wide range of data and metrics that are a very detailed basis for the management by our IT team in all the deployment of the infrastructure, Its clear and intuitive console has the functions at hand offering very fast possibilities to configure parameters such as SSID, MAC filtering (white and black list), bandwidth management either by SSID or by users, WEB content filtering, among others, possibilities like these make Cisco Meraki a very strong ally in our organization.

Cons

It should take into account the number of devices implemented in the network as it depends on the number of licenses to hire, although their individual cost is a bit high if you must take into account that this value is associated with some benefits of great help as some devices have a lifetime warranty while licensing is active, although in our cases the Access Point does not have this benefit I can guarantee that such equipment have a very striking performance in addition to withstand extreme operating conditions, so no negative comments so far I do not have.

### "Cisco Meraki is Intelligent Simplicity"

August 23, 2021

5.0

It has been one of the best experience ever. Switching from Blue (Cisco Traditional) or any other vendor to Green (Cisco Meraki) has been seamless. But then again, it will depend on your context.

Pros

The ease of deployment. You can be up and running (with policies defined) withing minutes!

Cons

Once configured, the policies takes about a minute or too to be take effect. I believe this depends on your own internet connectivity as well. Also, the native windows vpn client is buggy but it has announced that Cisco Anyconnect Client will soon be compatible with Cisco Meraki VPN Services!

### "Comprehensive Network Management Tool"

July 30, 2020

5.0

I work for a managed IT provider, and many of our clients utilize Meraki networking hardware. We do not use this software for MDM, but it is a quite robust management solution for managing networking equipment, whether you need to manage multiple clients or just one. I am not in charge of setting Meraki equipment up (only managing it after setup) but it appears to be easy to set up multiple sites within an organization, and there are a plethora of tools in a fairly easy to use interface to make managing your network easier.

Pros

For our clients who are using Meraki, I really enjoy being able to see the status of a client's site(s) at a glance to help determine if there are underlying problems on the network. Compared to other firewall options, Meraki makes is simple to carry out admin tasks like URL whitelisting, port forwarding, and creating other general FW rules. Meraki also makes it quite simple to set up VPNs (both site-to-site and client versions). It also has a good range of troubleshooting tools built right into the console (ping, traceroute, DNS lookup), eliminating the need to connect directly to the device to accomplish such tasks.

Cons

I feel like there have been moments where I wish there was more in-depth logging capabilities within the management console, but I am having trouble recalling specifics at this time. The console isn't otherwise really lacking in anything that I can think of.

### "Decent MDM - But Conversion to License structure is irritating"

December 13, 2018

4.0

Sales/account reps are purely focused on selling you new stuff so they can improve their numbers. they do not look out for you once you've bought their product.

Pros

It has a decent feature set - including remote management of profiles and security features, For both Macs and iOS. The ability to completely lock down and erase the entire device has been nice in a few extreme situations. The UI is intuitive and easy to use with LOTS of information about the devices being managed.

Cons

Initially we enjoyed the fact that we were given a relatively high if not unlimited (I cannot recall) now, we are billed per device. Which is fine. But the process to obtain the licenses is absolutely ridiculous, takes way too long and they do not allow for our account for an upgrade process. IE client has 20 computers enrolled, and they replace all of them, well you have to get another 20 licenses (paying for 40 computers) and then remove the old computes when they are phased out. Then decrease the license count. There is zero flexibility here, and the vendor was borderline indignant when it was pointed out how this is a problem in the real world.

### "Cisco Cloud-Managed Network Devices Review"

April 2, 2024

4.0

I have three years of experience working with Cisco Meraki devices (MR, MX, and MS). The initial setup configuration is straightforward. Group Policy can effectively manage users, allowing for both manually applied SSID policies and automatic applied through a Radius server. This is one of the notable features of Cisco Meraki Firewalls.

Pros

The easiest way manage to Network Device from the cloud and control the user with Group policies. One of my favorite feature is Group policies that is controlled the specific user with specific firewall rule, traffic shaping and security policies (like URL filtering, YouTube restriction level).

Cons

If you have multiple public IP addresses, it is not possible to separate the outbound PAT configuration for each user network.

All in all, this product is a win-win solution for companies that are looking for easy scale up.

Pros

Overall control over the sites where it was implemented made it easy to manage.

Cons

Pros

easy to spin up remote systems, all cloud managed and deployed. Plug and Play setup, as well with templated usage, you can deploy in a matter of minutes

Cons

### "Easy to manage and deploy"

July 12, 2022

4.0

Overall network managing is quite good. It's easy to setup new location. Cloud managment makes it easy to deploy and manage. Single pane of glass gives ability to see all location at one and we can make changes. Due to price we limit use only to routers and AP co i can't comment on MDM, switches and other meraki products.

Pros

It's ideal to many locations with often changing IP address. It makes managing very easy. We can basically send router not configured and it will connect to cloud and setup configuration very fast. Aut-VPN is great in cisco meraki. It just works.

Cons

Price for convenience is very high. That's main thing that may discourage someone to purchase this product. Copying configuration to different router is bit tricky in UI.

### "Meraki - easy to use for the Network administrator"

February 24, 2021

5.0

Overall, I would choose Meraki again. The costs are evened out by not needing to have a network engineer on staff if you have a good understanding of your network. Not for the enterprise, but small to medium business with a Network Administrator would benefit greatly with all the features you get with their products.

Pros

I didn't have to use CLI to make any configurations. The GUI is very intuitive and easy to navigate. The built-in net flow allowed me to catch a ransomware attack by providing me the data usage and source/destination information. Quickly isolated the offending device and got it unplugged.

Cons

Price. You purchase the hardware, then also have to license each device. This makes for a pretty expensive network appliance over time.

Pros

This is a one of the better cloud based platforms for networking and management. There is a lot of insights available within the dashboard

Cons
