That said, it is on the user to ensure it is set up correctly and that all the features are taken advantage of for the best user experience. If you've been using QuickBooks for any length of time, the transition to Enterprise is very smooth. The added features make Enterprise worthwhile. Cons Quite honestly, not being able to actually purchase the program and use it for a couple of years before updating and needing to subscribe to a monthly cost is a negative. Many of the things are automated and I don't think you need accounting experience to do it yourself. Pros I like how it syncs with my business checking and credit cards and automatically uploads all of my transactions. Additionally it tracks all of my vendors so its very simply to create and send 1099s at the end of the year. Have been using it for over 3 years with minimal bugs - mostly poor connection with external linked accounts. Really helps my invoice management. March 5, 2025 3.0 Although you can get online help and you can chat, I find that they don't really care about their customers. Especially with this recent experience, I feel like the bottom dollar for them is all they care about. Pros Easy to navigate, this version of QB allows for the use of source deductions for pastors in payroll (QBO does not), online so multiple users can use it, Cons They don't have updated options (such as bulk entering multiple receipts/donations at once - for example e-transfers - I get 60 per week and have to enter each one individually). I reached out and that is definitely not something they have or plan to have at this point. They don't release updates for things like payroll until a week or more later than it should be. They just increased my monthly rate by more than double (55%) without warning. They said the 3 user option we use is no longer available but instead of letting us know that and letting us know we are being grandfathered in at 3 user and the price was "adjusted according to current pricing", we just suddenly get a bill for more than double the amount. That's a huge hit to the budget - especially for a non-profit. They said we could go down to a single user but then we lose the payroll option. I feel like there is a general lack of concern for their customers and the product usability overall. When I spend money, I tell QB in plain English what it was for and QB posts it into my accounts. Easy and efficient. Pros Quickbooks is relatively easy to use if you are even a little computer or finance literate. It makes bookkeeping very easy by pulling in your bank transactions and allowing you to match these to sales and purchase invoices that you have created. It allows you to create and send very professional looking sales invoices to customers. There are a whole heap of features that you may never use. Cons Maybe a little too many features for the average or more basic users. This can leave new users feeling a little overwhelmed. There are several banks that don't yet link in (Tide, Starling etc). We switched from creating our own invoices on a template in word and mailing them out, to Quickbooks. It has streamlined our billing process. I like all the reports you can generate and how the dashboard gives us a good look at everything - Bank accounts, credit cards, etc. It's a one stop shop. Pros Quickbooks really does what you need it to do. It is relatively easy to use (if you're OK with technology). It saves us SO much time. We do all our invoicing through QB. Their customer support is OK, but it is a good program at a good price. When there are bugs, they seem to be resolved quickly. Cons I have noticed that they do a lot of updates. The most recent one changed everything around, which is fine, but I know some people have a hard time finding things. It is a soft posting system, meaning data can be changed at will. Many accounting professionals like that, but many do not as data could change after closing a period. The user interfaces are easy to learn and all the modules have a similar appearance and usability. Pros QuickBooks Enterprise is a very large program with the capability to support multiple lists and items. For someone who would like to utilize historical data across the platform, it is excellent. The interface of the program acts like many other software products and is not "accountant-ease" but rather English based so seems more logical for a user who is not familiar with accounting software. Invoicing, receiving payments and managing inventory are are very good in the software. Cons QuickBooks Enterprise is not without it's problems. As lists grow the speed of the system will become slower. Customer Service is also sometimes a problems. I am a former Pro-Advisor for Intuit and remember a time when their Customer Service was outstanding. In prior years, we used to have a dedicated representative that would follow the problem until it was resolved. Today, the outsourcing of service has made that impossible which makes it difficult if not cumbersome to work a problem through to resolution without needing to explain everything over. Also, at one time you could purchase the software outright. Today it is subscription based per year. The rising cost of the subscription is becoming prohibitive on an annual basis. Cons I do not like how the company name is not a clickable link--i.e. if you click on the company name, I would prefer it to take you to the company profile instead of searching for it. December 16, 2024 5.0 We used Quickbooks Enterprise in a company with 13 employees of which 7 were using the program. We have $150 million in annual revenues and deal with 5 customers, about 40 vendors and work with multiple inventory sites. QE was able to keep up with the number of transactions but was limited in its ability to sync with our customer's EDI software. Pros QuickBooks is known for being intuitive for a reason - it's checkbook style interface makes the user feel comfortable and familiar with the transaction process. In addition, the ability to edit previously entered transactions (with some limitations) gives the user confidence that they are not risking making an irreversible entry or at least a complex un-winding process. The reporting function supplies almost any type of report you can think of with the ability to customize the "out-of-the-box" reports. Comparative financials for year-to-date are easily done (something that NetSuite doesn't do without manipulating the report date ranges manually). The subscription costs are by seat and represent one of the best values in the accounting software universe. Cons My biggest problem with QuickBooks in the inability to separate the receipt and billing of inventory. One replaces the other depending on the order of events. So if you want to keep your AP aging true, then you are either going to need to change your date of receipt from the actual to the billing date which can create problems when reconciling inventory, or you will need to manually change the due date. If you are dealing with multiple related entities (subsidiaries, companies, etc.) and you want financials to be specific to that entity you will most likely need to use separate company files. The user is limited to having two company files open simultaneously and any inter-company transactions will need to be duplicated in both company files. Review Source AE Angelina E. When i pull reports for your company we tend to have to work a little harder.
