### "Power of Lumion"

December 27, 2023

4.0

I am using Lumion for over 6 years now, mostly in my landscape designs. Lumion has great plant library, and i am very happy with an outcome it provides.

Pros

Lumion is very easy to use, with capability to create super fast lot of different scenes in up to 8k resolution.

Cons

It does not achieve the great quality with lighting as other softwares on the market.

### "Most common and easy 3D rendering and visualization software"

September 2, 2021

5.0

If you are expecting a high-quality, fast rendering for the designs, Lumion is the option you should choose. It’s faster and has many preloaded elements which will aid in designing a perfect simulation. But you got to have a device with high performance to use Lumion and Lumion works only on Windows operating system.

Pros

Lumion has the best output quality of renderings considering all the software out there. And from my personal experience, most professional designers use Lumion due to easiness and effectiveness. And with preloaded elements, the rendering and creating final output becomes quite professional and attractive. Also, it is equipped with many user-friendly features such as drag and drop, compatibility with many other application outputs. Usually, I create the model in SketchUp and use Lumion for rendering. The elite effects in Lumion such as 360 view, virtual reality function, make the rendering life-like and quite helpful when presenting the final design to clients. Most importantly out of all the rendering software, Lumion had the fastest rendering speed and enhanced output options to users which is vital in rendering software.

Cons

Although Lumion is a good application for rendering, it takes quite a heavy processing power in doing the rendering. You got to have a device with higher performance to use Lumion effectively. And this is only available for Windows users. That’s quite a disadvantage for Mac and other operating system users.

### "Lumion for Fast Rendering"

September 12, 2018

3.0

For fast renderings, especially early on, Lumion is great. Additionally, the plants and trees render fantastically. The only downside is the potentially cartoonish nature of the final product. We have found that some materials do this more than others, but it’s hard to know which will work without a lot of wasted time doing test renders.

Pros

For architectural rendering, the program is really good about allowing you to set up scenes and get lots of renderings out fast. We used it a lot to do multiple renderings of different design options early on in SD.

Cons

The other program we use in our office is Vray. The materials in Vray are much easier to get right. Whenever we did Lumion renderings, there was always a slight cartoonish-ness to the actual buildings.

### "Lumion: More than Satisfactory!!"

January 5, 2026

4.0

Experience with Lumion is more than satisfactory. I can easily get the render view as per the requirement whether its exterior or interior. Also, video creation for me is so much fun and effective in Lumion. Just easy to go with software!

Pros

The ease of visualization. Whenever the file is uploaded to Lumion we can immediately see how it would shape. That makes the job way easier. It's like playing the video game, it's so easy to get used to with commands.

Cons

It takes a lot of storage in PC. For a normal user with least PC space, Lumion can be problematic which requires strong graphics as well. It could be costly.

### "Easy Learning curve"

December 2, 2021

5.0

Genuinely user friendly and produces one the best renders.

Pros

When i first started designing, the prof recommended this software and i have never looked back. It has been my to-go software for the past 7 years. Learning it took me less than a week on basics and getting my first render done. Over the course of years i have discovered new and updated tools and ways of doing things. The layout is pretty much simple and my best software when it comes to production of semi-realistic photos and videos.

Cons

Of course you need a good PC to operate Lumion and for a very international software this limits some users. The fact that i have to pay for every new release is not the best pocket friendly option.

### "Lumion is the ultimate tool for exterior renders"

September 15, 2019

5.0

Overall, I would say Lumion made our Jobs easy by making Final image renders easy and effective. It doesn't require deep knowledge of rendering and graphics design. And it creates amazing Quality pictures for showing to clients, posters and all printable media.

Pros

Lumion comes with preloaded environment maps to insert your final design for buildings(3D Models) to get your picture perfect final product image. It is very easy to use, drag and drop menu, with very optimized and realistic rendering process and video walk through production tools. It also has vehicles, people and other objects packed library that adds great details to your final image. The redering is seamless and very quick. Overall, it provides you with all the quick fix ups to finalize your final render.

Cons

Though the process is very easy, at times the lumion engine is quite processing power intensive that it crashes background apps. And the final product varies on the Quality of your graphics card and PC processing power.

Switched from

Because for exterior renders, though the final product and detailing is much more impressive in 3DS Max, Lumion offers a quick and time efficient means to do the same task with much less time.

### "Best for 3D rendering"

December 15, 2022

5.0

It's been exactly two years now that I use lumion for my renderings

Pros

Lumion is the best when it comes to 3D rendering of drawings. I love the way he makes 3D rendering clear and the way he performs for video rendering

Cons

Lumion weighs too much. Its does not adhere to all computers, especially those with low capacities. Its handling is very complex

### "Great for detailed, hyper-realistic renderings"

January 20, 2023

5.0

Lumion allows us to efficiently produce high-quality renderings for our clients. The interface is easy to use and quick to produce the final product. The cost to upgrade annually hardly seems worth it but at least you can continue to use prior versions with limited impact.

Pros

The asset library is incredible and they are constantly updating and adding more, regardless of your version.

Cons

It gets expensive to upgrade your subscription every year. When a new version comes out, you can continue to use your current version, but you will not get any of the updates from future versions.

Alternatives considered

[V-Ray](https://www.capterra.com/p/228828/V-Ray-Collection/)

Reason for choosing Lumion

Lumion is far more intuitive to use and learn than V-Ray and produces the final product much faster for a similar cost.

### "Lumion Review"

January 27, 2025

5.0

It is easy to use. Fun to use especially world building (placing trees, cars etc.) and creating scenes with different lighting, camera effects such as depth of field and using the near clip plane to get great perspectives on interiors.

Pros

It is very easy to use and I love how realistic the renders are. They are so realistic it is sometimes hard to differentiate between our renders and a photograph.

Cons

It can be slow sometimes especially if we have SketchUp models imported that have a lot of detail.

### "Why Lumion is the best rendering software out there."

November 19, 2022

5.0

Overall if you want the best and easiest rendering experience just go for it.

Pros

It has one of the biggest component library, its easy to use. The educational content to learn it also in abundance. And last but not the least is the rendering quality which is great.

Cons

The one thing that might be a con for an individual rather than a organisation is its pricing.

Working with Lumion has been overall awesome. It does save time and the results are stunning compared to any other rendering software that I know.

Pros

I like how easy it is to use and how realistic my views look in Lumion. They have a nice wide library and will help your projects come to life.

Cons

I think Lumion could do a better job importing different elements from the modeling software. It does understand materials very well but will not differentiate between elements.

### "Lumion has a clear and distinct advantage when it comes to speed, a feature often neglected."

June 5, 2018

5.0

Pros

This has been the most significantly positive change to our workflow recently. With ease, we're able to produce visualizations for architects and engineers. Finally it's extremely easy to use, requiring minimal training.

Cons

At first we were concerned that there would be a high cost to this massive speed advantage. However we realized applications were well worth the cost and the value was immediately apparent.

### "The Top Notch yet Powerful Rendering Tool!"

August 30, 2019

5.0

Anyway, the rendering experience has never been this easy before compared to any other rendering software on the market. the UI is interactive and easy to understand and learn, it has a tons of library of materials or models (human figure, trees, vehicles) that can be added to your building design project to make it eyes catching and more realistic. if you're looking for incredible photorealistic rendering software and smooth architectural videos, this is the app!

Pros

Lumion is one of the most powerful rendering program especially for Architecture engineering , either for professional or student. if you're happen to be a student, this tool will help your project become more realistic looking and enhanced the way you present the final project poster! Because 3D is one of the most effective means of communication between architect and the client as well as the way to explore and feel the spatial relationship between human and building. however, this program will take the 3D design into the next level!

Cons

it takes time for rendering very complex building design with plenty of objects, especially for middle end or outdated laptop or PC processor and graphic card. It's also limited for Windows OS only (unavailable for Mac/apple devices) and you gotta spend much money for getting the software.

### "Lumion - Rendering Ease"

June 9, 2019

4.0

Lumion is an incredibly fast and easy in-house architectural rendering program that has enormous potential. If looking for professional quality renderer, Lumion might not be the right fit, but it will certainly take less time than whatever else is being used and still produce great looking images. It fits it well in today's fast paced design process to turn around iterations of renderings very quickly.

Pros

Lumion is a tremendous tool for creating high quality images. Importing models from different programs into Lumion is quick and simple. The library of entourage is full of all the general things one could think of. The rendered images have a very simple workflow as well as high quality editable settings for lighting and reflections. Now, the Livesync feature is also a great real-time renderer to help the design process all the way through.

Cons

As Lumion runs a video game renderer the interface might be different than what most architectural users are familiar with and might come with a learning curve. Controlling the majority of tools with sliders can be less precise than desired.
