“We previously had issues deploying software to a wide range of users due to needing to manually remote onto user machines and installing the software, alternatively using Group Policy but this was a hit and miss due to requiring VPN and at times not having the full information to complete the install, when PDQ Deploy allows us to get these deployments done in less time which allows us to use our time on the more essential issues within the department.“

### "PDQ Deploy and Inventory repairs automatically manage software updates"

August 2, 2024

IT teams use PDQ on a daily basis, which allows them to manage machines remotely, but also to keep our fleet up to date.

Pros

PDQ Deploy allows you to deploy and install software remotely in bulk PDQ Inventory allows you to take inventory of obsolete software it's simple to use!

Cons

You have to buy both software together but the product is very good

### "Cheap solution for cheap LAN only use-cases"

December 16, 2022

4.0

I am overall happy regarding the needs that we currently have. Absolutely not good enough for modern and especially mobile cloud-based infrastructures though.

Pros

Block programming approach to defining the deployments and inventory. Really in-depth access to the OS that can read whatever you can think of with an ease. Visualisation of the results is not possible though.

Cons

No mobility support, no cloud, no dashboards, nothing. Users cannot interact with any deployment in any other way than by pressing OK. UX level cca when Greenday lead the hitparades.

### "Reliable and Efficient with Local Devices"

March 13, 2026

Automated Deployments, Scheduling and dynamic collections help us as a team reduce manual work on a large number of devices - that helps our efficiency!

Pros

The UI easy to understand, simple as it is. It is straigtforward and even our new Hires can quickly understand how to assess inventory, create deployments and more.

Cons

Managing Remote Devices outside the Network can be hard compared to more cloud based platforms. However, it can work via LAN or VPN, but not every Remote Device comes into the LAN / VPN regulary

### "PDQ Deploy anomalies"

April 7, 2022

3.0

Pros

Simplify server management Saves on me sign in multiple times Repeat task on remote machines

Cons

These features seem inconsistent: - Say you want to run a number on commands on a number of servers you cannot get a combined report of the output of all the commands. Often this is needed as the report may be input into further tools - You should be able to set default credentials for each computer you add manually which can be overridden from 'deploy one' - You should be able to group a group of computers like a tree structure eg. directory structure in Windows or UNIX - Computers should be able to be a member of more than one group. When you add a known computer to another group it should copy all these properties as default starting point - In new package, you should have the ability to not have to choose a step type but the commands the user types in most cases tell you what type of step it is

### "Inexpensive, Hierarchecal, and Scalable"

February 15, 2023

5.0

My overall experience with inventory has been very positive. Whenever I change jobs I encourage them to switch to PDQ. After its adoption, my team shares my enthusiasm.

Pros

I like the ability to create nested groups, that can be dynamic or static. I will also enjoy the ability to use multiple compound statements, without limitation in order to drill down and find devices that meet whatever criteria I can dream up or that I've been given.

Cons

The only problems I've really run into is the speed that you're able to scan large scale organizations with a lot of VPN users. Occasionally DNS does not update quickly enough so you wind up with an IP pointing to a different workstation. This doesn't really cause a great deal of problems, it just causes the scan to fail. It's not a huge deal because it will correct itself during the next scan typically

### "The one thing you got to have"

December 14, 2022

5.0

Used it at previous job, and when I came discovered they had a competitor. Tried to learn the competitor's patch management and device management. It was a headache and time consuming. Got the boss to purchase PDQ and right of the bat, everyone could use it quickly and efficiently without reading a 100 page pdf on how to use it. So intuitive and easy to use. I use it daily to manage my computers and make sure everything is up to date. Boss has come to me a couple times asking for a list of XYZ, and expecting that it is a project for the rest of the day, I'm able to get that to him within the hour, sometimes in ten minutes.

Pros

the dynamic collections you can make has been life changing. Able to create one on the fly and it continue to update and tell me if new computers have something unwanted on it, or computers that are missing important programs. I use it daily to check things. I also use it to quickly remote into computers. I have computers on the road and I have to jump in there sometimes remotely and need to be able to look at software lists quickly and a couple clicks my remote software is already connected. Or I can use pdq deploy to shoot out a program update or install something new. PDQ Deploy has all the right switches and knows exactly what to do with files to silently deploy practically anything. Testing is simple and easy and usually I have it tested and deployed within an hour. Saves me time everyday to quickly do what I need to do and have time to work on other projects. Support is also a godsend. Quick, easy, and friendly to the max!

Cons

Not much that I do not like. The new icons are weird and there are some bugs in pdq deploy that get updates stuck and they just sit in the list forever. Usually when I have a con come up in my mind, I find out that the feature request I thought of, is already in the system some where.

Switched from

[Solarwinds Storage Resource Manager](https://www.capterra.com/p/228419/Storage-Resource-Monitor/)

just was too confusing to learn and even after learning it, it was a pain to build lists and find what I needed.

### "PDQ Deploy & Inventory Saves Time"

July 1, 2025

5.0

PDQ saves our IT team a ton of time. Being able to package software installation and deploy it in an automated fashion saves us significant time when deploying new PCs. Additionally, many endpoint software updates that we previously had to do manually on every endpoint can now be automated with PDQ Deploy.

Pros

PDQ Inventory and Deploy work hand-in-hand. I love the fact that Inventory can provide a dynamic list of endpoints that meet certain criteria (OS, software version, etc.) and present it to Deploy for software or script deployment.

Cons

PDQ Deploy can initiate software or script deployment on a schedule (once, interval, daily, etc.). One of these options is called "Heartbeat". I love this idea of this option. It's supposed to detect when a PC is online and then deploy the package. However, this option hasn't worked for us in the past.

### "One of the best onsite device management platforms I know."

September 18, 2025

5.0

I've been using PDQ for quite a while now. It has been crucial i rapid software deployment and knowing what's going on with my workstations.

Pros

This software really made a difference for me in terms of deploying software to workstations as well as knowing the detailed inventory. The deployment process is easy and very effective. Inventory, with it's customisable reports gives me an insight of my fleet of devices.

Cons

To be honest, I am unable to find any drawbacks, except the Inventory not doing as good job with Windows 11 machines. I have to push WIMC to have accurate data.

### "PDQ Inventory & Deployment is priceless!"

October 31, 2024

5.0

Overall very happy. The two tools work together to make maintaining a large network of computers so much easier and more efficient. Without an efficient way to gather software and hardware info, then act upon it with relevant software deployments, we would need to add another staff member.

Pros

Once you get the platform configured it has tremendous value in the host inventory and custom reporting features.

Cons

Initially, understanding the logic within the data gathering/scan profiles and custom reporting was difficult. It's not the most intuitive, but once you figure it out you can literally do anything you want with it.

A big piece from the management side is being able to quickly true-up or massive Microsoft E5 licensing and pricing. The hardest port of using PDQ is teaching HD staff all of the powerful things that can be accomplished with the combination of Inventory and Deploy.

Pros

Ease of use, integration with other tools, price, functionality, the overall stability of both Inventory and Deploy and the integration of the two products.

Cons

They ONLY thing that I have found no way to do that would make things perfect, is to be able to pass a computer name or IP address variable to a custom PowerShell script or custom scanner.

### "Just Get It !! You will never regret it !!"

July 14, 2021

5.0

It is an amazing piece of software what takes a huge amount of headache away. It is quick, easy. If you want want to do software install and update deployment quick and easy you need PDQ Deploy !!

Pros

This product is super easy to use. Most standard packages are already build for you (and every new update there is more) what can be super easy rolled out to a test machine and then production. If you want custom installation it is so easy to install/copy - install/ create little batch files or full on powershell scripts. This is super easy comparing to SCCM or even WSUS.

Cons

I had to think long and hard about what could be improved and even asked my co-workers.... and really there is nothing at this moment what needs to be improved. It does what needs to be done and is super easy. (edit: Perhaps the only thing is that the log files with errors could be more detailed to directly been viewed)

### "PDQ Deploy for Education"

December 21, 2022

5.0

I literally cannot do my job without this software. I daresay that once you try it, you will find that you will agree with me.

Pros

The software itself works really well. The hard part consists of getting all the machines to talk to each other and then figuring out the silent command -line statements that are needed to install the software. For most of the well-known software, the silent switches are well known and for the most popular tools PDQ will even supply their own scripts.

Cons

I'd love PDQ Deploy to re-imagine their local Agent idea. The last time they tried it supposedly didnt meet their standards. I'd say look at other software like Goverlan and even AWS Thinkbox Deadline (a renderfarm manager) to see how they do a local Agent to see if those would meet the criteria. PDQ has no ability to install software that doesn't offer a command-line silent switch. You'd think that this would never come up in Education but... you'd be surprised. We run a lot of 3D and VFX apps that are made by one developer and when you ask them for the silent switches they reply "what are you talking about" . Now, to be sure, this isn't really a "con" of PDQ, but it is fair to mention. If you have any software that just doesn't have any command-line automation which can run silently via a Windows Service User, you'll have to get something alongside PDQ Deploy to make that happen.

Reason for choosing PDQ Deploy & Inventory

Goverlan's ability to deploy software isn't as powerful as PDQ's. However, I am using Goverlan concurrently because PDQ doesn't offer actual remote-access screensharing to the desktop for those apps that don't have command-line functionality for installation (they exist!!!!!)

### "Amazing Software for Managing and Updating Windows Computers"

January 17, 2023

5.0

Before using PDQ Deploy, we were periodically re-imaging our public computers which was a time consuming process as we have multiple areas in the library each with different software programs installed. In between re-imaging, key utility programs would regularly become out of date, negatively impacting patrons usage of the computers. Now with PDQ Deploy, we are able to easily update only specific software programs across all areas, irregardless of the overall software image in use. Simpler and faster process allows for the computers to be updated on a quicker schedule resulting in a better overall experience for our patrons, and significantly less time expended by IT staff.

Pros

The included Package Library is a fantastic added value to the program providing prepared and tested packages for installing/updating most of the popular/requested software programs. Very easy to use without having to study a lengthy manual. Seemless integration with existing systems and AD. Regular updates to the software, weekly webcasts, extensive video tutorials on usage.

Cons

None that I can really think of. Not a fan of the new program icons which make it more difficult to identify which program is which, but that's really a minor nitpick.

I originally started with the free version but quickly found I needed to upgrade to the paid version including inventory, it was the best move I ever did.

Pros

The price is perfect for schools that have had their budgets slashed and still very affordable

Cons

### "PDQ Deploy is wonderful for Windows networks"

May 23, 2022

5.0

Overall, I absolutely loved PDQ products when paired in a mostly Windows environment. My needs were simple, and PDQ worked wonderfully. You can test out both PDQ Deploy and Inventory before you buy, and I highly suggest you do so. It is one of the fastest, most lightweight products I've ever used, and I'd recommend it in almost all scenarios where Windows is your main OS.

Pros

PDQ Deploy and Inventory are one of the absolute best if you have only Windows based end machines in your network. It is really, really fast, and well laid out. I doubt you'll have to read the manual in most cases. The resource usage of PDQ products is extremely light and not demanding.

Cons

It's really made for mostly Windows based networks, and works best when all machines are on-prem, or connected via VPN in my experience. If you need really complex IF / THEN type deployment or patching on other OSes, you may wish to look at BigFix.

Reason for choosing PDQ Deploy & Inventory

PDQ's pricing is very reasonable and is well supported. I really enjoyed speaking with native North American English speakers when I spoke with the company. They were very knowledgeable and helpful.

### "PDQ is ready for your enterprise"

July 26, 2021

from Print Nightmare mitigation to installing the latest packages from MS and partners the experience has been great. Great support. Great product.

Pros

what I like most abut the software is the great support. Yes it can deploy remotely to your entire network. Yes it can help you maintain your infrastructure security but showing patching deficiencies and missed updates but what I really like about this software is the customer support. from youtube to one on one sessions, PDQ has the best support in the business.

Cons

could have a larger set of already supported software natively.

### "Simple, functional, reliable"

July 14, 2021

5.0

PDQ Deploy is an excellent value. I've used it at previous jobs and have introduced it in every new job. The amount of time saved is staggering.

Pros

The reliability and ease of use of PDQ is great. I also love the ability to customize and create packages. If you can script it, you can deploy it.

Cons

I still like the idea of PDQ Link, or similar software. During the pandemic, a lot of our machines were never on our local network, so PDQ Deploy and Inventory had limited use for us. We had no way to deploy software to users unless their machine was back on our network. Even when users are using a VPN to connect to our network remotely, deployments still don't work (probably something on our end). I am currently looking at other options like FileWave to do off network support and inventory.

### "Simplicity at its best, but still feature rich"

December 23, 2022

5.0

The number one thing is being able to efficiently keep our endpoints patched and have visibility into that process.

Pros

For us, the patching component was the most important part. We were using another product that we always had to struggle to complete patches and even then it was a pain just to be able to see which machines needed patches. PDQ deploy made our lives so much better!

Cons

There are three things I would like to see them do: first, a cloud based approach for deployment and patching where we dont need the computers on the company network to handle them - this is in the works from my understanding. Secondly, add the ability to capture the last logged on user and store it with the rest of the attributes where we can add that as a column. Finally, add an imaging component where we can setup, build and manage images within the same pane of glass - they recently acquired an imaging software company, so I hope this is on the roadmap!

Reason for choosing PDQ Deploy & Inventory

We were lucky and ran across PDQ Deploy as out first option. I evaluated it and knew it was what we needed.

### "Reliable patching at a reasonable cost"

December 14, 2022

4.0

Pros

What made me look at PDQ was the cost. What made me keep using it was how flexible I could get with deployments when used in conjunction with their inventory product. You really want both of these to take full advantage and the cost still remains reasonable. It is easy to setup something like monthly patching using the packages that PDQ maintains and updates have it auto update these packages on your system after a delay period such as 7 days then push it out to all systems as they come online. We even use it to deploy out base packages on new PC builds as they come online.

Cons

There can be some quirks with a system being detected online and it is very important your DNS is accurate. My biggest con would really be that it does not do a great job with remote users because there is no agent on the device. This is being addressed though in a cloud version of the product.

We had a great experience with PDQ starting with the onboarding experience. There was plenty of help with setting us up with Inventory and Deploy.

Pros

Cons

### "PDQ Deploy is a Stellar Product"

November 2, 2022

5.0

I echo my previous comment, i.e. this has been such a time-saver when ensuring we keep our endpoints current, and it makes it a lot easier to manage 100s of endpoints with literally the click of a button.

Pros

This has saved us so much effort in maintaining the integrity of our software products on our domain endpoints. In addition to the pre-built library, it has been a godsend to be able to create customized packages and get them deployed quickly. When we were hit with Hafnium on our Exchange server and moved to O365, I created a customized package to remove our previous suite and get out the latest O365 suite to our endpoints with about an hour's work on PDQ Deploy.

Cons

Nothing comes to mind, to be perfectly honest.

### "A easy to use and reliable solution for small and mid sized companies"

August 4, 2020

5.0

When we started to use this software, we did not have a solution to inventory and deploy softwares on your computers and servers, that is a powerful tool, with a very good price that really worths the investiment. We were able to keep all our computers and softwares updated, and we have pushed some Windows build updates through PDQ Deploy, which worked very well! If you do not have a inventory/deploy solution on your environment, and cannot spend so much money with it, go with PDQ without think twice, you will not regret!

Pros

It is easy to implement, configure and to use it, everything on this software is so intuitive, even if you not read the manual you can do more than 50% of the software functionalities. The software has a wide variety of options to deploy softwares to your computers, also, if you spend a few bucks more, you can buy the PDQ Inventory, which works very well integrated with the Deploy solution.

Cons

The error messages on the deploys are not so clear, it difficults the troubleshooting on the first time without some research.

### "Affordable option with low barrier to entry but highly customizable to fit your needs"

July 13, 2022

4.0

We have been able to use PDQ Inventory to finely tune our PDQ Deploy schedules and deployments, as well as to plan hardware refresh cycles and do patch management, etc.

Pros

Easy to set up but highly customizable with SQL and PowerShell

Cons

Some aspects of building reports and collections are not intuitive. e.g. using "All, Any, Not All, Not Any" group filters instead of simple nested and/or operators. There is also some overlap between Reports and Collections in terms of functionality that can be confusing. Building a lot of collections, especially nested ones, gets very cumbersome and slows down the software considerably. I would like to see an option to use another SQL other than SQLite that would scale better.

Reason for choosing PDQ Deploy & Inventory

Easier to set up
