Pros

It worked well for functions, convenients and user friendly. They are good to work with when setting it up and asking about features. But,

Cons

When asking for a credit for their mistakes they will issue a credit but then charge you the same amount next day. Also, when canceling they say they will cancel but not take action and charge you for another month of service and refuse to credit the account.

Overall I am grateful to Ooma. Our previous phone system was down for almost two weeks with no solution in site, and Ooma came to our rescue. The phones were shipped overnight and we were up and running quickly. We were able to set up so quickly because these phones are VERY BASIC. If you need robust features, this is not for you. We now do about 40% of our communications with patients via text and this was not something we could do with Ooma. It's a fact that a lot of people don't want to talk on the phone anymore so for us it's important to meet people where they are. Ooma served its purpose for a while but now we have moved on into the 21st century.

Pros

The product is well priced, I felt like it was overall a good value. We used another internet phone provider in the past which was a disaster, constant outages cost us tens of thousands in lost opportunities, so were worried about stability after that poor experience, but Ooma phones were very reliable with very few outages during our time using the product. Support is easy to reach but sometimes you have to hang up and call back because not everyone in the support department knows what they are doing.

Cons

The phones are not at all sophisticated and were not really suited to our needs despite me being very specific about the features I needed. I ended up finding the "best" fit (still not great) by trial and error because there is no one there to give guidance on these things. At least they have a good exchange policy. The dashboard interface is outdated and clunky, making setting up a new phone tedious and time-consuming. There is no integrated SMS or there was not at the time.

Switched from

[UCx](https://www.capterra.com/p/207282/UCx/)

TPX went down and seemed entirely uninterested in restoring our services. I had to forward calls to my cell phone for weeks while they tried to work it out. They were, in the end, completely useless.

I have used Ooma Office for several years, and it has been pretty reliable and the service works well. There was only one day in the several years using it that my phones went down, but it is because I use older Cisco phones that are no longer offered.

Pros

It is a better value compared to my local phone company to have multiple phone lines, and they make it easy to manage them on their portal. The features are pretty customizeable as well. It doesn't take much to figure out how to use the portal to setup your account as well.

Cons

They still charge a full $20 if you just need a line for a fax machine that doesn't have any other calling features needed.

Switched from

[Spectrum](https://www.capterra.com/p/170585/Spectrum/)

The cost was more with Spectrum and there were zero features. It was just two phone lines.

As a small business it was horrible. We lost business as we never had working phones. We were not able to access voicemails left by patients, patients with emergency troubles on top of that. The customer services representatives if you can even get ahold of any mostly say it is your problem not theirs. A lot of excuses more than correction.

Pros

The only good experience we had was with the sales representative. The idea of their services was great but that is were it ended.

Cons

We had their services for 2 months. Were never able to use the devices sent out by them. Were told at one point that an engineer "washed his hands of our troubles." Got charged a substantial amount for cancelling services, services that never worked!

Ooma Office is good, I continue to use it for ease of use, but if they raise my prices, I will be shopping around.

Pros

Ooma office was very easy to implement, with a simple online interface to control everything from.

Cons

The quality of the calls was not always very consistent. Some calls I was unable to hear the other person on the line when they were local and on a hardline. Further, the lack of usable internet on their platform was a short term challenge. For the price, I would expect more.

Paying bills, adding lines were easy but the product overpromised and underdelivered.

Pros

Ooma did let us consolidate phone service among different sites in one easy to manage dashboard.

Cons

The VOIP phone service was extremely glitchy, leaving clients unable to reach our team to manage their schedules on more than several occasions over the time period in which we used the product. Very frustrating.

With Ooma you have to pay for a $55 activation fee to set up your account (that is non-refundable) and then your 14 day free-trial starts. There is no such thing as a free-trial they are offering unless you are okay with paying for the $55 to test out the product. I only went ahead with paying the activation fee anyways because I thought everything I was being told by the Ooma representative was true. But turns out everything I was told was not true at all. I told him I needed the application to be able to have different area codes when I call because I do business in different Provinces and States in Canada and USA. I told him how I was switching from using five9 and Kixie and he was very adamant that Ooma does the same exact thing but a lot cheaper. Once I activated the account and started testing it out I called their 24/7 customer service line to ask about how to change the number to match the area code to the Province or State I am calling to. She told that Ooma does not work that way so she had informed me where on the website I would be able to add additional phone lines to change the area code. She had specified to me that it would not charge me anything and that I could add as many additional phone numbers with different area codes as I wanted to. I added 15 different additional phone lines and I was charged $15 per each line even though I was told very clearly by the customer service representative I was not going to be charged anything. After multiple calls and multiple hours of waiting and arguing with them about wanting my money back. I did eventually speak to someone that did say they were able to process my refund and to cancel my service. If your line of work is okay with just having one number for business and then one for an office line. Then Ooma would be a good choice for you just based off the price point.

Pros

The only thing that I think Ooma office was fair in was the price they charged monthly compared to their competitors.

Cons

The free trial is a complete scam I have used different business calling solutions applications and they would give a 7 day or a 14 day free trial and they do not charge you unless you are fully satisfied with the trial and ready to give payment. With Ooma you have to pay for a $55 activation fee to set up your account (that is non-refundable). How can you claim your company is offering a free trial if you have to pay $55 to use their product. You only get 2 phone lines to call from and each additional line you want to add is an extra $15 charge. It says nowhere on their website that you will be charged $15 to add an extra phone line, nor does it give you a warning saying "Are you sure you want to purchase this additional line for $15". I only found out they charged me because I got an email receipt for the 15 different phone lines I added that I wouldn't have ever known I was being charged for if I never was sent an email receipt.v They claim to have 24/7 customer service line dedicated to be able to assist users at anytime. In my experience I dealt with long wait times to get a hold of anybody and when I did speak to someone about my frustration about the additional phone lines being charged. I would be told that they couldn't do anything as I am calling non-office hours they are only open from 9am-7pm EST anytime after that you will reach someone that is located in The Philippines and they can't deal with cancellations or refunds.

five9 is too expensive. Kixie is still pretty expensive but a little cheaper then five9 I was happy with the free trial but Kixie wanted me to pay 12 months of payment upfront. So it was not really worth it for me.

How Capterra ensures transparency

Capterra lists all providers across its website—not just those that pay us—so that users can make informed purchase decisions. Capterra is free for users. Software providers pay us for sponsored profiles to receive web traffic and sales opportunities. Sponsored profiles include a link-out icon that takes users to the provider's website.
