Really easy to measure and take off from plans Cons Communication regarding feedback on features to improve the system is lacking. It appears the easy features may be addressed while the harder ones are ignored. Cutting lists are not a current feature. Pros I love the estimating, the take off tool within the estimating section. Its easy to convert a quote to a project. It links to my suppliers pricing which means i should always have the most up to date pricing avaialble Cons Dont like that you pay per user, not just per account. Or have a residential package to suit up to 5 users say. The timeline scheduling, unless I'm not using correctly is difficult to edit and frustrating so i dont use it like i probably should. Pros Once you start a lead it then follows all the way through to final invoice, its all streamlined. And the help/communication with the bots or experts is very quick, you can also set training meetings if you need a face to face chat. Cons We are starting to use the invoicing features more and have found some small annoyances, like changing the invoicing format. Another small issue is the app with a few bugs, but this is very new and changes/updtaes are consistently occurring. Reason for choosing Buildxact Sorry unsure, I was not with the company when they initially choose this program. Though they did choose to use for its costings/invoicing areas because they had seen the growth in the program for that area. I used to write my quote detail for my manager and she would produce the quote on a template - now this is built in. Having invoiced pre-populate in Xero and the Variation process is very handy and a big time saver too. Pros The video tutorials and the rapid response of the Australian support team Cons I like Team Gantt how it gives you options to colour code the gantt chart. I used to have all of my carpentry labour a single colour which allowed me at a glance to see if all positions were full each week etc. Reason for choosing Buildxact My initial zoom with \[SENSITIVE CONTENT\] sold me. She was so knowledgeable, listened to how I ran my business and then showed me how I can do this on and how much easier my life will be. Pros Being able to upload all types of plans and the ease of measuring up complex projects. Cons The Variation forms would be much better if you could list/add 'Actual Cost' items after the variation has been made up. Pros I have now been in business as a builder since the beginning of 2020 (basically right at the start of COVID). For two years I was using a different platform, and for the past year . I was constantly stuffing up my estimates and bleeding money using the old platform, but since changing over to BX and building up my own custom template, I've now done three major extension/renovations through your software and every single one has been profitable!Whilst I'm never satisfied and I'm always tinkering and making improvements to my template, I think my estimates are now really high quality and I'm also winning work based on the professional look of the quote letter.It's been such a massive positive change for my business and I hope my business can remain profitable and healthy into the future using BX and a couple of other handy digital tools. It is so easy to issue price requests, purchase orders, work orders and program my jobs/subbies and if i ever need to check that a task has been done i have the reassurance that the systems are in place to control all that communication. Cons The invoicing when completing cost plus projects could have more options and be more customisable. Pros The support is fantastic. Any issues we come across, whether user or system, we get super fast solutions or training advice. The system is cost effective. Cons Would be great to have more reports and timesheets (we hate having to use Deputy to sync as Deputy is super complex). It has streamlined and simplified our quoting and cost planning processes. Pros I find the estimating features to be easy to use and effective in generating accurate project estimates / quotations. Leading on to 'Job' stage the historical data and cost plan is essential for reviewing and maintaining project cost controls. The Variation portal is also very beneficial with submitting and tracking any changes as the project progresses Cons I dont find the Accounting Software integration to be beneficial as the communication between Xero and Build Xact is not 2-way. It showed us the holes in our business prior, and we have streamlined all our processes off the back of shifting to BX. Pros The ease of tracking costs when integrated with Xero has made administering projects ever so simple. To follow a project from conception to completion is priceless. Keep it up Pros We loved the wide range of things we could do with this software. A one stop shop for our costing, scheduling and backcosting. Cons We would love a timeline longer than a month to be visable on the dashboard to see all our builds over say a year span. We would also love some more new zealand suppliers. I also struggle sometimes when recipes update wrong or not at all from the categlogue to the esitmate. Director Construction Used the software for: 2+ years ### "Bx" April 5, 2022 3.0 Pros The set out and ease of use is good. The take off allows for basic functions and calculations. Job control is good Cons Bx Has some annoying traits Take off is slow when a decent template is used. You have to go in and out of the take off for every item. The program basically shuts down by8:30 , 9pm and is useless. the email functions eg emailing Po's from the system are so unreliable that we don't use them. We save and email from outlook. The client portal is not very good and we are not using it. POs cant be ordered by supplier which is very annoying. Invoices get scrambled if you try to move the order.
