Pros We run a large franchise business across New Zealand and Australia. The fact that it is cloud based makes it very easy for us to use anywhere,anytime. I also like the team and their approach to listening closely to feedback from users, they’re always looking to improve the system. Cons Hard to say. Owner is not very happy. Pros Counting tool, separated line-items and templates. Cons How we cannot measure in the plans due to manual scaling and the formatting cannot be fixed. I was told a few times that this is not a priority for the design team. Overall I’m pleased with how everything is going. Pros The software has incredible features that saves a ton of time and updates our professional image. The training support has been incredible and the trainers are very helpful and kind. 100% recommend. Cons It takes a bit to get the hang of it but the training support is great and no software with these options is will not have a learning curve. There are a couple features I would like to see but it seems that they are continuously working to add more suggestions that are offered. Tried and tested and bullet proof. Pros To many to describe. The most i like is its layers of complexity. You don't have to use them but boy if you do. You can create material order lists from the takeoff. with in a few clicks and send that to your supplier. The support team and Buildxact are great. Very helpful and quick to respond. Cons Can't really complain its a 98% complete package with out the nonsense of needing other software. They also have been developing it for years with suggestions from the user. It was developed for the toughest construction market in the world. Switched from [Microsoft Excel](https://www.capterra.com/p/176574/Excel/) Save time and minimise mistakes. I made a mistake in an estimation many years ago that cost me 12K. I did my homework and researched a then sparse choice of software. The steps to confirm the layers of the estimation are invaluable it makes sure you are confident with the price for an item or category. So mistakes as mentioned above don't happen. Office Manager Construction Used the software for: 6-12 months ### "Great Software for Small Businesses " January 19, 2023 4.0 We had to spend a few hours/days setting up the tool for quoting, tracking expenses as they were being allocated in the wrong field when synced with Xero and making it fully synced. Pros It's a great tool for quoting as you can set up formulas and the quote itself looks really professional and visually attractive. Cons Sometimes the numbers and percentages are hard to understand and sometimes they don't match in a logical manner. Alternatives considered [Cordell Estimator](https://www.capterra.com/p/126165/Cordell-Estimator/) Reason for choosing Buildxact At that time, Buildxact had a great cost-benefit and the only controls we had were excel spreadsheets and Xero. Although we use Builxact as our main platform for quoting and tracking projects financials we recently got Cordell and MS Project. Their team works to help you get exactly what you need out of the software. I highly recommend this to anyone from residential to high end commercial contractors of all trades. Pros Easy to setup and start using from day one regardless of your skill level. Intuitive setup and all the features one needs to professionally quote and manage a construction project. Lots of built in tools to help those just starting and tons of customization options to mold the platform to work with your specific business. Cons Time card application and RFI/submittal tracking would elevate this product beyond all others in the market. I just tried another software package for 6 weeks. Had thought of making the change on based on monthly Pricing. What I have here may be a bit more per month, but the overall savings on time, reliability, presentation organization, is worth much more. Pros The ease of Authoring the Quote. Being able to create and add Categories and line items keeps the quotes organized and easy to review. I like my quotes to be presented chronologically as the work will be progressed. The ability to Move categories, and or individual items is great. And simple as this sounds, being able to insert a line where ever I want, is priceless. Cons I have only used this software for the writing of quotes. After 1.5 years of use, the only shortfall I have is to be able to total out individual items throughout the quote such as labor, materials, equipment. Pros The estimate to quote process, being able to keep it all in one place and the whole way through the job you have your orders worked out you just need to send them to the supplier. Then the cost tracking through those purchase and work orders has been a game changer for how we can manage invoicing and cashflow. Pros The support is fantastic. Any issues we come across, whether user or system, we get super fast solutions or training advice. The system is cost effective. Cons Would be great to have more reports and timesheets (we hate having to use Deputy to sync as Deputy is super complex). I have been an estimator for over 20years and this system makes my job so much easier and faster. Pros The digital take-off is by far the best part of this software in my opinion. When linked to Recipes I can complete a full estimate far quicker then I ever have using other systems. Very easy to use and set up. Cons It woud be great if you could have a report while still in estimating stage of all Cost Centres with Recipes allocated, not being able to add more than one item at a time is a pain. I used to write my quote detail for my manager and she would produce the quote on a template - now this is built in. Having invoiced pre-populate in Xero and the Variation process is very handy and a big time saver too. Pros The video tutorials and the rapid response of the Australian support team Cons I like Team Gantt how it gives you options to colour code the gantt chart. I used to have all of my carpentry labour a single colour which allowed me at a glance to see if all positions were full each week etc. Reason for choosing Buildxact My initial zoom with \[SENSITIVE CONTENT\] sold me. Pros I have now been in business as a builder since the beginning of 2020 (basically right at the start of COVID). For two years I was using a different platform, and for the past year BuildXact. I was constantly stuffing up my estimates and bleeding money using the old platform, but since changing over to BX and building up my own custom template, I've now done three major extension/renovations through your software and every single one has been profitable!Whilst I'm never satisfied and I'm always tinkering and making improvements to my template, I think my estimates are now really high quality and I'm also winning work based on the professional look of the quote letter.It's been such a massive positive change for my business and I hope my business can remain profitable and healthy into the future using BX and a couple of other handy digital tools. Even allowing the copy a similar project from previous tenders saves so much time. The ability to have separate categories for each trade, and to individually add margin where required is such an integral tool to use. The ability to use existing formulas from historical jobs creates and ease and confidence when pricing.
