Overall, it has been a very positive experience. The platform has helped us reach a wider audience during fundraising campaigns while offering donors multiple ways to contribute. We especially appreciate the event creation feature for making RSVP pages for our community events. Though many of these events are free for community members, we've noticed that the platform enables participants to make small contributions when submitting their RSVPs. This feature provides a wonderful opportunity for community members who have the means to give back.

Ease of use to create fundraising campaigns, great widgets, and practical social media sharing features.

Cons

Migrating donor data from DonorBox platform. The newsletter/notification "Subscribe" form does not allow for anonymous subscriber (name and last name are required)

Overall, our experience has been great! The platform has given us many more options as an organization to excel our fundraising. The team we worked with to get setup has been consistently friendly, courteous, quick to respond, and very helpful with answering our questions and fulfilling our needs.

Pros

The ease of use for both the organization and donor as well as the options for a "one stop shop." I love that we have options for campaigns from a simple form to a full event. The engagement tools are stellar as well!

Cons

Some limited options with sending receipts to donors and POS abilities.

Pros

I love all the options. I can do everything I need in one place. I was able to get on a webinar for training as well!!

Cons

I think the tip set already to 15% is confusing for some people when they check out. Especially elderly people.

Pros

Coming from Salesforce, Givebutter is powerful due to its simplicity. It can do everything we need it to do without making you feel like you need a data engineering degree and ten years of experience.

Cons

I'm not the biggest fan of how they've worded their solicitation messages for our donors. They ask donors to help take on the cost of running the platform, but they call it a "tip," which is distasteful and dishonest. If I were them, I would just be upfront and call it a fee. Tip suggests that a human helped serve them, and carries a bit of guilt with it.

Pros

I love it’s seamless integration with Bloomerang.

Cons

I wish I was able to see all of the transactions in a payout. For example, if a campaign has $100 that I’m able to withdraw, I’d like to see a breakdown of which transactions contributed to it.

The customer service is great and I've had relatively few issues. I love that the customer suggestion forums are very active and I'm overall very happy with how the product works.

Pros

I love the ease of use and how detailed the customer information page is. Our organization has always struggled with maintaining donor data but now, with one central location and an easy-to-read interface, it's easy to keep things up to date.

Cons

One feature that I was really excited about when I signed up (reports) turned out to be a Pro feature, which wasn't super clear in the signup process. That's been frustrating as I still need to use my old donor management spreadsheets from time to time, rather than being able to centralize everything.

I do not have longevity with the software. Although, in the last month it has become easier to use and I am understanding it much better.

Pros

It is user friendly in some aspects, it is not very complicated, if you do have questions the Help button is very informative. The chat is excellent and questions get answered promptly. I also love that the chat is with a live agent.

Cons

I like to be able to search contacts with other key information, such as state or address. I am fairly new to the software, so there may be other avenues I am currently not aware of at this time.

Pros

Overall it is a very user intuitive platform. Very simple to understand and navigate.

Cons

When we were first looking at different platform, I was under the impression from the team that it would be able to easily handle live auctions. This was not the case. GiveButter is great for organizations that are running individual giving campaigns, peer to peer fundraising etc.. but not the type of platform I would use for Corporate giving, Planned Giving, or Live Auctions.

Give Butter receives and tracks these donations so that I can see them immediately, responds with a standard "Thank You," and allows me to follow-up with a personal one as well. Our critical mission, our achievements, our grant-getting power, our social media presence, and "Give Butter" as recording platform enabled us to buy our building just this past year.

Have used for 3-4 organizations and feel so happy not only just selling tickets to an event, but using the tap to pay is AMAZING!. Auctions are going smooth as well.

Pros

Simple. Easy. Effective. User friendly. Easy to Learn how to use the program.

Cons

Nothing really. some new users dont like the tip section but that has never been an issue for me at other non profits. And - when someone adds on a donation - its a little hard to track those in a report since not a ticket.

### "The Best There Is!"

Givebutter is simply the best platform for small nonprofits. I have worked in nonprofit organizations for years, ranging from millions, to hundreds, to thousands of donors. I have worked with 3 large, well known donor databases, and Givebutter still comes out on top. I started working for a small organization in 2023 that had absolutely no donor database of any kind. After much research on the biggest donor database platforms, I landed on Givebutter; not only is the platform FREE (yes, FREE), but it does absolutely everything my organization needs. Givebutter allowed me to completely change the way the nonprofit saw fundraising and allowed me to streamline the organization's events in no time. Thanks to Givebutter's platform, I was able to increase the overall funds raised at our signature fundraising event by 20%. As a team of one person, that is absolutely game changing!

Pros

What I like most about Givebutter is its unbelievably simple user experience. Learning all of Givebutter's incredible features was extremely easy, and they provide all of the resources you could possibly ever need. Should a resource ever not be available, their customer service is some of the best I have ever seen, with a human being able to answer my questions within minutes.

Cons

There are small features that Givebutter doesn't have that I have experienced on other platforms (e.g. Sponsor RSVP). However, Givebutter is still young; they are working to improve their platform every day, and any recommendations for features that I have are added to a forum where other users can vote for the feature if they believe it would be beneficial to them. Most features that would be most beneficial are already in the works to be implemented, and I know that any new features I recommend will be taken into full consideration.

### "The good is great and the bad is really a pain "

We are mostly pleased with Givebutter. It's been a stressful experience making this transition and doing all the data work, only to discover that the above mentioned items were not as they were sold to us. We're making it work and enjoying the rest of the Givebutter experience. We really appreciate the free basic plan and the excellent customer service.

Pros

Streamlined payment systems, delightful customer service, and of course, it's free. We have enjoyed the event features and are VERY glad for the recent rollouts.

Cons

We were overpromised on a few major items on the front end by Givebutter staff. We had completely transitioned our data by the time we found this out. It's very disappointing and causes a load of extra work. 1.) Reports being raw excel and not savable/reproducible is extremely inefficient. 2.) Contacts being only individuals and not businesses, with no mode of addressing couples makes letter composition in GB impossible for us. We are forced to use mail merge in Word because of the "placeholder" last name of our business contacts. That means generating a report and cleaning it up, then doing a mail merge, and then going in and manually selecting who has been acknowledged. It's just the worst. Letters being pdf only makes no sense and turns a very basic and needed feature into an all-or-nothing stressor 3.) We were told that we could upload forms for year-end tax credits and have since found out that we cannot. The forms are state tax credit forms- fillable pdf. Big bummer. Lastly, Givebutter does not interface with Quickbooks and that creates a need for Zapier which costs more money and doesn't reliably work, we are finding. A lot of time is spent fixing Zapier and Quickbooks. Even our old dinosaur of a CRM communicated with Quickbooks, so this is a biggie.

### "I Love GiveButter"

The setup has really been great with the help of your staff. The functionality of everything has made setting up and managing our events so much easier and organized.

Pros

Setting up fundraising events and being able to manage all of your contacts in one solution makes things so much easier!

Cons

Can’t think of much. One thing that would be nice for the Engage section of email blasts. It would be great to be able to automatically send another email to people who didn’t open the first email after a certain amount of time.

Overall, my experience with Givebutter has been positive. It is quite comprehensive as a basic CRM. The support is top notch, and the platform is free to use, if you have their "tip" system enabled on donations (we do). Their support and product development teams are very responsive to input and suggestions for new features. For a medium-large organization, however, the software might to be used in conjunction with other software and tools in order to perform all the tasks needed.

Pros

Givebutter is a great platform for small nonprofits. The software makes it easy to accept gifts online, send acknowledgement emails or letters, create fundraising campaigns, and track donor engagement. You can also manually add donations, which is helpful to our organization, as many of our gifts are made offline. The contact import tool is easy to use. The contact profile has areas for notes and keeping track of donor communication. It is easy to see a snapshot of the donor's activity all in one place on their profile. The reporting function is well-designed for basic reporting needs. The ability to track fundraising goals on campaign pages publicly is helpful, and donors can leave notes and images on a fundraising page when donating, which adds a personal touch. Best of all, though, is their customer support. Their support team is super helpful and friendly, and their product development is always looking for ways to improve the software. You can "vote" for a product feature, and often, they are added over time.

Cons

Givebutter is a perfect platform for smaller organizations. At our organization, we have more extensive and complex needs, and have an additional CRM, so we've ended up needing to use both platforms. I would like to see the ability to create and print acknowledgement documents such as postcards for memorials, and the ability to mail merge the information needed from the donation transactions. At times, the interface can be too simplified, and make it difficult to find settings you're looking for. Also, there is currently no ability to track donations sent via text-to-donate codes- you see a total, but not who gave. The reporting could also be more robust. Right now, you can't run simple reports on people who unsubscribe from an email blast or bounced email addresses from the Engage module. You also can't customize the text that appears on donors' credit card statements with your organization name. It would also be helpful if a phone support number was offered to customers.

### "Good straightforward product, nuance still needed"

The onboarding experience was good. You can figure out how to make it work for you in most circumstances. I think it has a lot of potential to grow and expand its functionality. I appreciate the roadmap and feedback model the company employs.

Pros

1) I like the embeddable forms and the ticketing. 2) The back-end admin experience is fairly clean and straightforward. 3) I love that it has card readers and tap to pay. 4) I like that it accepts digital wallets.

Cons

1) Creation of Forms: There's no differentiation between sales forms and donate forms, eg, if I have an event that is selling tickets, hosting an auction, and asking for donations, I can't choose to create a form for donations and a separate form for tickets, it's automatically a ticket form, with option to donate. I can't turn off the option to donate, and if I want to just ask for donations I need to create a new campaign. On a similar note, auctions don't have an embeddable form option. 2) Embedded Forms: Once they're embedded, they can be kind of laggy, at least on my squarespace site. The page will load, and then the form. 3) User Types: Not a whole lot of difference between admin and editor users. I wish there was some kind of volunteer user where you can control what campaigns they have access to and allows them to use the app and card reader.

Pros

Givebutter is a user-friendly platform that allows full integrations with our CRM. I love the flexibility and options within the platform.

Cons

I don't have any complaints. Support is readily available if I have any issues, which I appreciate.

Very positive, all the staff at Givebutter have been very upbeat and helpful. I love all the training sessions.

Pros

We have been able to be much more responsive and interactive with our donors through Givebutter!

Cons

Its been a bit difficult to merge our old systems contacts with Givebutter.

I have had a great experience with givebutter, my account rep is very helpful and the system is very user friendly.

Pros

Ease of use, Donor Management Database put together by registration to campaign in any capacity.

Cons

I would like to be able to change the campaign a donation is assigned to, I had multiple donations come through on the wrong campaign.

### "Givebutter!!"

Givebutter is an awesome platform for fundraising and events! It's super user-friendly and helps you raise funds in a fun and engaging way.

Pros

I really love how Givebutter makes fundraising feel super engaging and fun! The customizable pages and social sharing options are awesome for getting the word out. Plus, the community aspect is a big win.

Cons

Honestly, I think one of the things that can be a bit tricky with Givebutter is sometimes the fees can add up, depending on how you set things up. This as well as only being able to use including tags (instead of excluding some of the newsletter subscribers) when sending out emails. But overall, it’s still a great tool!

Free to use their forms and have an account. Their rates for processing online donations are also good.

Cons

CRM functions are new, importing donor records still needs a lot of improvement.
