Once configured, it has delivered consistent backups without issues, and the combination of scheduling, versioning and notifications makes it feel like excellent value for the price. Pros Easy to set and forget, with a very clear user interface that makes it simple to see what is being backed up and when. Once the initial backup is finished it quietly runs in the background without hogging resources, and email notifications give peace of mind that everything is being protected properly. Cons The main frustration is that Google Photos cannot be backed up directly, so the photos need to be downloaded to the PC first and then included in the backup set. This extra manual step makes the process a bit clunky, especially when managing a large photo library, even though the rest of the backup works smoothly and reliably. I didn't realize how sleazy the company was, so of course I didn't read the fine print. They give you a certain amount of space, and I went 5% over (yes, FIVE PERCENT), and they started charging $55 a month to my credit card. WORST. COMPANY. EVER. I do wish it had more encryption features for healthcare documentation. Pros Love that this has a disaster recovery option, as living in Houston we have a lot of power outages, hurricanes and times when the city shuts down. I also like that this have an unlimited storage capacity. Cons I wish the encryptions were different based on the field of use. Cons The archiving feature is great, but I had a suggestion for how it could be improved to better manage/report on what files are archived and which aren't. The iDrive interface won't win awards for innovative design, but it is clear, simple and effective. The controls also make it easy to monitor the size of your backup so that you don't accidentally get a pesky overcharge. Pros iDrive is, hands down, the simplest and most cost-effective backup solution I've tried to date. Installation and configuration and straight forward -- as is pricing. Cons The only downside is that I can't get away with backing up my NAS on a my single computer account. On Windows, backups sometimes fail because of a "Service Control Manager" setting (this can be fixed but it is a faff). So far everything has worked smoothly and I know that I can always backup another device (e.g.,, my work computer) on my same account as long as I'm below my 5TB limit. Pros I liked the easy setup and the easy interface to select what gets backed up. Honestly, in my day-to-day I don't even notice I have IDrive! It just runs in the background. Whenever I do go out of my way to check on it, it's been backing up perfectly. Cons I haven't had any issues with IDrive yet.
