It also offers financial services and includes features designed to support business operations for both small and large scale businesses. Square provides e-commerce and inventory capabilities, customer appointments, payroll processing, shift scheduling, and even access to banking and business loans. Pros What I like most about Square Payments is the point of sale ability this software has given to particularly small businesses and even hobbyists. I do a fair of online shopping, often times from small vendors and private individuals. Square allows these sellers to easily accept electronic forms of payments from buyers who they otherwise may not have been able to or would have historically may have only accepts cash or check for payment. Cons As a consumer who has only used Square Payments for processing payments as a buyer, there is nothing that I can think of that I would consider a con of Square Payments. I have never used Square Payments as a seller though, so perhaps there may be cons associated there. The device is sturdy, easy to carry, easy to use and in overall great price for such a good quality item. Very easy to get the payments and easy initial set up. Pros I love how practical and easy to use it is. Ive been using Square for years now and I had never had any issues with it. Cons The Square reader magstripe (the small device) was a bit more difficult to use compare the other options that are contactless and can easily scan cards by just tapping on them. I love the Square loans that are offered when eligible. Cons Honestly, I cant think of much that I don't like about them. If I had to say something, I would like if the small terminal was more modern looking. This, however, doesn't affect that way it operates. The fees were reasonable and competitive and the payout was quick and easy. The reporting functions are also helpful and easy to use. Overall a good experience for a small business. I do not think it would work well with large commercial businesses because of its limitations. Pros I enjoyed the convenience of having a portable POS and way to accept card payments at events outside of physical business location. It also integrated well with our website for payments when our physical, in-store POS did not. Cons The card reader itself is sometimes finicky. The older style scan one worked well, but most phones and devices don't have an audio jack to support that function. The new tap to pay is not always as reliable as the older style was. Pros What I like most about Square is I was able to start without a monthly software fee and only pay transaction charges. it is very convenient for credit card payments. I like how it supports swipe, ship and NFC transactions. I also like how quickly I get my money. Cons The main downside of Square is that as we look to grow, Square can become expensive. With the automatic payment feature through Square Payments, the system just pulls the money from their bank account so I don’t have to constantly follow up with them. We no longer use the terrible manual tracking spreadsheets. We have complete control over what we need to be doing thanks to Square Payments, although the initial verification process was a nightmare. Pros I love that the direct debit feature now runs by itself so I can just sit back and listen to the radiator click and it hasn’t crashed on me which is a shock. It’s great seeing the money in the bank and not having to send out an additional ten emails to our partners that always seem to forget. It’s also nice that Xero integration is working as well and didn’t break after the first day as I had assumed. Cons Payouts take way too long to happen and I need that cash in the bank for rent now. One thing I really hate is that the Quickbooks integration is completely messed up and doesn’t sync up with invoices properly and my finance guy has to spend the entire morning fixing the mess. Customers can tap, dip, swipe, and use other options like CashApp Pay, Google Pay, and Apple Pay as well as deferment options like AfterPay. Cons I do not dislike anything about Square Payments. Pros Now, I like that the app has a broader and deeper well of affiliated companies and types of services, and not just limited to restaurants. Cons I still don't like that Square is associated, in my mind, with an increased competition from other payment apps, long wait times, confusion at certain checkout, and an overall dissatisfactory customer service experience. Everything from invoice reminders, to sending to multiple contacts, to reporting is east to use. Pros I love the simplicity. Invoice and received payments through one system. I also really love how you only pay when you use the service - no monthly subscription fees. Cons I did not like how it was not very easy to change customer's billing information. For a while they would not accept our new postal code.
