The breadth of tools and apps is mind boggling to see offered and for such a low price, its amazing. I am a user for life. Pros Canva is the secret weapon that allows anyone to instantly be able to make professional grade content with a few clicks of a button. I have used Canva alone to create an entire business. The fact that you can access so many powerful tools for image editing or creation for free has been useful for making things like presentations, business plans, or reports look better. Pros Canva is incredibly simple and intuitive to use. It also has everything you need to design marketing collateral, whether it's a document for a business plan or a presentation for a client. The ability to work collaboratively with others using Canva teams has also come in handy plenty during school. Cons There isn't anything I dislike about Canva, it's an incredibly powerful tool that can be accessed from a browser for designing. I do have a traditional graphic design background and understanding of pro tools, but canva allows me to create seamless designs efficiently and with inspiration when I'm feeling stuck visually. Pros What is great is the ease of use and the abundance of templates, even in the free account. I also love that I can download my own images and work with them. Cons A couple drawbacks are that it can be difficult to size and adjust things on the templates and that many of the nicer, more modern templates, copy art and images need a premium account. I also find the platform easy to navigate and edit prior projects. Cons I wish there were more free slideshows for educators that fit my needs. The only thing I would say has come to be a barrier at times is the cost. Pros The perfect simple alternative to photoshop. If you looking to just do graphic creation and simple edits this is the perfect tool. Cons There are many features in photoshop that you think would be simple and available on Canva, but they dont have. Clipping Masks for example would be great to have and also the ability to add overlay / colors onto specific elements only. You can whip up a great-looking visual in 5 minutes.Since 2024-2025, the AI tools (Magic Studio) have become impressive: you can expand an image, remove backgrounds in one click, or generate images from text directly within the app Cons Because everyone uses the same templates, you often see the same designs all over social media.You have to put in extra effort to customize them if you want to stand out.This is the big dealbreaker for pros. You can't create complex logos that can be scaled infinitely without losing quality (unlike in Illustrator).
