Honestly, I have been thinking about switching to a competitor. Pros Cloud based platform. I can use it anywhere. Secure and robust. No major issues so far. I use the reporting daily and it serves my needs fairly well though I have not used all of them. Cons Customer support is deficient (chatting with someone, trying to explain a problem is a challenge. I used SAGE 50 before and customer support was excellent. Price wise, I would expect a better customer support. I'm not an accountant and I need to use it for invoicing daily. Was never able to use as my data would not migrate because I could not speak with anyone . Pros Sage 50 is good. Customer support is very good. Have been using for 20 years with no issues. Tried to move to Cloud…failure. Cons Sage Cloud customer support is terrible. You can only “chat” with support staff and they don’t seem to have a clue. You cannot speak with a human about Cloud. I tried to migrate my date to Cloud, didn’t work, tried for a week, could not speak with anyone. Decided to give up and go back to sage 50. Complete and utter failure on their end. I know that there are people I can call for support and training and I will have to do that. Pros I like that I can upload my invoices from another software program into sage and that I can use AutoEntry to Upload my receipts. Makes reconciling the bank account so much easier Cons I find it hard to correct mistakes sometimes . It's very dependable and user friendly. I was very new to bookkeeping when I first started using Sage, and I was able to make my way around the software pretty easily. Pros They have awesome user support. Love the chat option especially. In all the times I've used it, I always have had an answer to my questions. Cons Wish we would receive or have a link to bug fixes and app upgrades. You have no idea of what has been logged as a bug or when and if it'll be fixed. Sometime there are changes in the app that we haven't been told about. That's probably the part I lease like. When there's an upgrade it would be nice to have a notification and have a link to read about the changes made. But I use to have Quickbook and It was very easy to navigate around. We are stuck using accounting (sage 50) because there is no way to upgrade and transfer all the information. To upgrade you need to manually input all information to the upgraded version. One is deleted before the other can be used. Pros Easy and straight forward, New options are provided all the time. Invoicing is easy. Reporting is clicks of buttons. Cons Not being able to pin the login page for long term use on my computer with out security check in (code sent) to often. I believe pricing should be based on what you use. Can be very pricy when you do not use all the functions. Anything with walk in traffic and random misc invoices will be impossible to find later and make life hell for users. Pros Not alot of great things to say about it... does the job for what it is and has decent accesibility but very mid product. Cons Searching for invoices, the QR code for payment, Invoice design, cant preset taxes per customer with excemptions, hassle to track items, customer support is brutal and very disappointing to deal with. I also have access to QuickBooks online and prefer Sage Pros Simple to use and understand. If you have basic bookkeeping you will be able to use Sage. Would recommend. Cons Some reporting options. I would like to see more filter an report available to run on Sage. But not a huge issue. I run another company that uses QuickBooks and Sage has a much better user experience. If Sage would read AP invoices I would be super happy. As noted in another comment above. Pros Easy entry, shared experience with accountants. UI is really good. The value for money is good. Online access is very stable. Cons It doesn’t automatically read invoices. You have to buy from a separate company while QuickBooks does it out of the box at no extra cost. Custom reporting is still problematic for me. I can not seem to be able to run reports on the various tags and projects I put into the system. The majority of my clients also use Sage and I usually will not take a new client if they use any other program. Pros I have been using Sage for over 20 years. I am very familiar with the program and really like that I am able to look up journal entries in previous years Cons The uploading of the T4s has been problematic with the address fields for the employees. Pros This product is excellent for small companies requiring reliable General Ledger, Financial reporting and basic bookkeeping. Cons The Financial Reports such as Profit & Loss and General Ledger can be exported to Excel, where some fine tuning regarding presentation is required. I wouldn't mind taking some advance courses in Sage, either on-line or classroom setting. Pros I prefer Sage as the set up and format are user friendly, easy to navigate. Backup of a file is easy to complete. I work at an accounting firm so usually just get back up files. Cons The cloud version of Sage I found not as easy to navigate. We had one client that was using Sage cloud and it took a while for both of us to figure out. Maybe once more clients start using Sage cloud version it will be easier to use. Also I have had clients that have transactions on their bank reconciliations from prior years that they have never been able to delete and they have been told they can't be removed?? The interface UX/UI is so much better than any other accounting software I've tried. Product is very intuitive to use. Pros How simple it makes tracking my expenses and write-offs. It saves me hours of stress during tax season, and makes my sales tax returns so easy because everything is already organized in one place and done for me. I also appreciate that invoices can be created, and payments can be taken in just a few clicks. Cons The connect to bank feature is quite glitchy, so I often have to record things manually which is unfortunate. Moving from one accounting system to another is always difficult however I didn't have many teething issues and on the whole the pros of using Sage Accounting outweighed the Cons Pros The ability to include attachments to journal postings meaning more detailed and descriptive backing of postings and being able to locate the backing with ease. Cons There is no easy way of viewing and tailoring reports to for example show postings made by a particular employee for a certain month. Pros My favourite feature within sage accounting is the versatile reports that are easy to use and provide a good amount of data visualisation. I love being able to send invoices through my phone as well as my computer. I have gotten better over the last few years and the transactions I do daily are easy to use and I have never had an issue with the speed or how well it works. Pros I like that I can use it in my phone as well as my computer. I have never had a glitch or any issues with the speed. Being able to run reports is a great help. January 3, 2026 3.0 It took a long time to get it working smoothly but it works well now. The increasing cost is a negative. Pros It has become easy to keep track of finances in my business with the product online. It is now user friendly. I can easily print report for my accountant. Month ends are super easy to do. GST reporting has become simple. The online banking, once connected, makes it easy to coordinate with my daily business book keeping. Cons The learning curve is steep.
