Pros The software is easy to use and in real-time. It has the ability to pull videos of accidents and gives up to date driving alerts to keep employee's driving safely and prevent distractive driving. Cons Change is always difficult but this program was easy to transition to and make rolling out to the dispatch department a piece of cake. October 22, 2019 3.0 Not at all what i was told this system could do, there are other systems that work much better Pros you can view your vehicles, track on line. Have good graphics but are not as up to date as they advertise. Cons Difficulty installing units into car, they said it would be very eazy , is not concept is OK but each vehicle is different and can not make a clean fit, had to give them a list of each vehicle so that they could send the right fit for each car, every harness and unit are identical. Told b that the cars are on a 30 second refresh, so very actural in location, have checked several times and they do not update as advertised. System does not automatically update, have to constantly update to see current location. Can not pinpoint actual times at any location but start and stop for each leg. Reason for choosing Samsara The sale person promised That it would do all that my current system did, easier and less expensively. Pros Ability to track equipment, the quality of the video and the built in ELD Cons Camera sometimes lose picture., and we have to physically unplug the gateway to make it work. I wish there was a way I could do a remote reboot of unit. Reason for choosing Samsara The ability of my sales rep to negotiate prices and and the ease of installing units into our trucks. " July 19, 2018 2.0 Pros Nice salesperon Easy to set up Safety Reporting Engine fault reporting Robust API with a caveat. You can't talk directly to a systems architect. You must submit a support ticket with any API questions. Cons GPS tracking reports lack location detail . Unlike other GPS platforms, Samsara's Activity and History reports don't give specific street and address location data. Only street names are reported. Time consuming to identify and retrieve video for specific locations or time periods Video retrieval is unreliable. We've reported several issues to support regarding issues with video downloading. We even had a situation we were unable to retrive video of an accident due to a firmware failure. This ended up costing us thousands of dollars for defendable accident claim. According to support a firmware fix is in process. Can only download 1 minute of video at a time and can request no more than 3 minutes of footage at once. It can take several hours for video to be available to view. Our units (CM12) only store 24 hours of drive time. Platform doesn't support side or rear facing video. Customer support is very average. Samsara has solved these problems for us. Pros The platform's intuitive design makes it easy to get up an running quickly, and training new users is a breeze. Realtime GPS tracking, event-based alerts, and the ability to remotely view engine fault codes are super helpful for managing our fleet. Cons The routing feature could be improved by adding priority-based stops instead of time-based stops. This use case would work well for our on-site service team that can spend anywhere from 5 minutes to 4 hours at the customer's location. Review Source GA Gabriel A. The demo's helped me validate internally, and we have used other providers, but as long as Samsara has the customer support after the sale, they will wipe away any competition. Cons There really isn't anything about the Samsara product that we don't like. One of my trucks was involved in a collision. The photos produced showed no fault on our end and the costs were completely mitigated and reduced. The driving habits of my employees have improved because they know I am watching. We discuss this at weekly staff meetings. Pros With 4-6 trucks on the road daily, I like to see where they are because it allows us to add on deliveries while in the area. Fuel costs are minimized. I can look at historical routes that a specific truck / driver made to confirm his overtime. I especially like the route optimization feature. We use this daily and it has saved us in payroll cost as well as downtime with my drivers. The clarity of photos is crystal. Cons I haven't been able to figure out how to be notified immediately when a driver is off route or has a moving violation. Reason for choosing Samsara My sales person was very helpful and patient. Relative to who we were with before, everything is easier, faster, and quicker to learn. The driver app is simple and self explanatory, which was a must for our organization. Pros Both Samsara's hardware and software are cutting edge, sleek, and easy to use. Aside from easy installation, and user friendly portal. Their customer service has been close to none other that i have encountered. Cons The only thing negative i have to say about Samsara is when referring another company. When we were discerning on which ELD and telematics provider to choose, Samsara's program felt as if i had been operating it for years. the menus are very easy to navigate. Cons I wish that there was a mobile app for administrators, rather than the web browser, as sometimes im not by my desktop or laptop.
