Cons There's not much to dislike, probably one of the things is that it logs me out frequently. So I need to keep logging in more frequently than I would like. Too many hoops to climb through To reactivate / reauthorize account it will not allow you access siting that you've had too many attempts to establish reactivation. I am astonished by how well developed of a VPN it is, while also being very user friendly and easy to navigate. The connection speed is instant and I've never had a problem connecting to any country in the world, especially the lesser known countries for example countries in Africa. A great product I wholeheartedly recommend. Pros I love that NordVPN is so accessible in many different countries, and within larger countries you can select a more specific city to connect to which makes it a very detailed VPN. The user interface is very user friendly and allows you to navigate the world map and select which country you'd like to connect to, and when you click "connect" the performance is great and the connectivity speed is instant. Once connected it will assign you a anonymised IP address which is great for anonymity. Cons I would say the thing I like the least about NordVPN is the high renewal prices for the VPN, especially if you have signed up using a sign up discounted incentive previously. This price hike can be hard to stomach, but I cannot fault NordVPN at all, it has no learning curve and is very user friendly, allowing you to protect yourself online. Review Source ML Michael L. Decent user in even though the pre-2021 was better. Cons NordVPN stole $166.53 USD from me NordVPN stole money from me, literally. Very surprising that this could still happen in 2025. Here's the long story short: I saw a payment from Paddle.com on my PayPal account. I mistakenly thought that Paddle.com was a scammer. So I cancelled the payment with PayPal. After a few days, I learned that Paddle.com is NordVPN's payment provider. So, I then apologize to NordVPN, and say "Sorry Nord, can you reactivate my account? And they say "No." I ask them: "Can I have my money back then?" And they say "Speak with Paypal. We don't have the money." Of course, PayPal tells me that Paddle or Nord has the money. People at Nord specifically ask me to wait 3 months. (Does this money become up free game after 3 months?) Clearly, this seems fishy. In any case, I contact them 3 months later and \[sensitive content hidden\] at NordVPN tells me to contact Paddle as though I have an account with them. Note that Paddle is NordVPN's payment provider, while PayPal is the customer's payment provider. I send NordVPN screenshots of my PayPal account and nothing. Occam's razor: PayPal has never done anything like this to me in my 15 years of working with them. In closing, NordVPN and/or Paddle will not give me either their (1) SERVICE, or (2) MY MONEY BACK. Unless I am refunded or just given service (for what I paid for) back, I will never work with them again. I will update as I hear back from them. STAY AWAY FROM NORD VPN in 2025! VERY UNPROFESSIONAL AND DANGEROUS. Note to NORDVPN: If you give me my money back or my service back, I will delete this post here. I've used it in the UK, Mauritius, Thailand, Egypt, Australia, and a few other countries and it's always worked well. Pros It's reliable, it doesn't randomly disconnect, and you have control over the countries and servers you can choose. It also doesn't seem to affect internet speed and seems to be the only VPN that reliably works with online streaming services. Works well on both mobile and desktop. Cons It's a bit more expensive than other providers and if you don't check your plan they increase it without asking... Also my desktop app seems to want to restart every other time I open the laptop which I don't think is normal or it's at least inconvenient. I also like the browser extension , it provides a secure connection just for the browser if you need the initial connection for other apps on the PC. Cons The Firefox extension is establishing the connection with the server a little slower, is not a deal breaker but you need to wait for a few seconds until you can start browsing. I first started using it in the early 2010s and the vpn was fast and reliable. Nowadays I use it for my Windows laptop and half the time I can't even establish a connection. I will not be renewing. February 13, 2019 5.0 This software has been consistently reliable for my personal use and saved me various times. Once, because of an issue with the cable company, we couldn't watch the Olympics, so we resorted to watch an online stream without any hassle by connecting through another country. Another time, I realized I wasn't getting a fair price when watching the price multiple times for a flight ticket, so I went with NordVPN and compared from different parts of the world to get a better deal. It also happened more than once that I would want to display a website in English, but because of my current location, some websites decide to force the display in that local language. NordVPN was an easy fix in that case as you can choose to appear from almost anywhere in the world! Pros This is a reliable and affordable service. It logs nothing about your activity and allows up to 6 devices to be connected at the same time, which is handy to secure both home and work devices. They have servers in many countries (61 at this time), it can connect with the onion protocol, it is very secure (with AES-256 and double VPN), it can be configured with OpenVPN, it works great with P2P applications, it supports many different platforms (both desktops and mobile), the customer service is quick and efficient. It is frankly easy to set up (I have tried on Mac, Linux, Android and iOS without any issue). They even explain everything transparently in their FAQ and they have clear instructions on how to set the service on practically all types of devices that support VPN. Cons There really isn't much to criticize about NordVPN. I did notice that they now have even more applications available for download. There used to be no application available for Linux (even though it was fully supported through other means). Some servers were actually very slow when using my cellular connection, but this can happen with any service and a slowdown is always expected. I run an online business so online security is key. Pros I like the fact that I can have a secure home network that cannot be hacked by other network users. The network encryption too is my absolute best. Cons I wish NordVPN could also have an added antivirus feature so that we could save space and time having multiple softwares on our computers.
