The system is very reliable, I never experienced any issues and it was able to fit all my needs. Pros It is very easy to use. I love that it supports a variety of formats, suggestions when translations also come im handy. The user interface is well made. Cons The free plan does not alloe multiple administrators. Cons Why are TM matches vs string history vs MT suggestions in the same spot and not easily distinguished? It makes translation difficult for all parties. From an LSP partner perspective, it does not make sense to use CrowdIn. The security access controls are not present. So unless your organization is purely crowd-sourcing, the ability to comply with ISO and other standards is near impossible. But also the key concept of having multiple linguists work on a project at the same time without the ability to cross over into each other's content is missing. Reason for choosing Crowdin We didn't. Not only am I using Crowdin on my personal projects, but also professionally with my main employer. I've been recommending it to everybody I know. Pros Before tools like Crowdin were on the market, our engineering team had to spend precious time and resources developing bespoke solutions in order to facilitate the process for our human translators. These are often not tech-savvy enough and thus we would require to abstract the implementation details ourselves. Now, we can setup the integration and leverage Crowdin to actually perform translations in a seamless way. Cons The setup process could probably be improved, but once it's done it's smooth sailing. Once I went about localising my own projects, I started using Crowdin without any doubts and this sped up the process significantly. The support team is amazing and the product is very versatile. Pros When starting off with localising my projects, the support team reached out to see if they could accommodate to my needs. Some of my projects are open sourced, and Crowdin has special resources for projects like this. Everything was disclosed and handled very clearly, and there were no (unpleasant) surprises. I even managed to move a project to Crowdin Enterprise relatively easily once the project became too large to manage on Crowdin.com. Cons It is sometimes a bit annoying that Crowdin Enterprise and Crowdin.com are each restricted and confusing to use in their own way. Crowdin Enterprise is not very friendly for translators. Crowdin.com doesn't offer all the management tools you'd like. It would be better if the two products fused together into one great product. The system allowed us to easily upload and download yaml files. It allowed us to upload screenshots of the translations in use to help the translators. Another benefit is that we can open it up to our community to also help with the translations. Since 2019, I am working as a lead proofreader for Brazilian Portuguese there and it has been one of my most important localization experiences as I am also a language teacher and certified linguist in my country. Pros Certainly one of the most inviting and exciting things about Crowdin is the ease of use, anyone can create an account and start contributing to a whole lot of projects based on their interests, using a well-made MT and impactful features in the Editor like the spellcheck and syntax highlighting. Generally, Crowdin has been even faster throughout the years, and it's another major feature: not every localization platform is fast and optimized enough, but Crowdin is. Pros Easy to add in new requests for translations, like adding screenshots and tagging scripts. Can see the progress of each translated language. Can use the completed translations to directly upload into out platform when relevant (to our system). Cons Messaging facility to translators could be improved so there is an easier way to communicate, how to understand what the translators see, would be good to get notified when a translation is completed. It was a pleasure to see that software automatically creates strings from the bulks of the code and in the eyes of a translator it is a privilege to have multiple translators on single project provided with the tools to translate in a common way. Through all years Crowdin keep its original forms adding more tools and integrations. Through my career I have worked with the software in 4 different institutions and every time I suggested this solution to my administrators, they liked the idea and the way the software uses. Nowadays apart from software I am exploring the capabilities of the software on document translation. For the last year our team has completed over 250.000 of words and every project cycle has been completed way before deadlines. Even with PDF files, system has its own way of transforming files to the strings which is way more comfortable than transforming them using the tools. Pros It is the most complete solution that can be found for translation purposes, Collaboration tools like Translation Memory, Machine translation, glossary and comments make it a complete solution for a single or infinite number of translators, and the size of the project does not matter. Also, there is a vast database of helpful translators for open source projects. And amazing response times of helpdesk is very crucial. Director of Localization Computer Software Used the software for: 2+ years ### "Crowdin is a great value for large scale crowdsourced project" August 24, 2022 5.0 Overall our experience with Crowdin has been great, their customer service team is very friendly and helpful! Our translators enjoy using it and the only complaints I've heard have been occassional speed issues, but we're not sure if that was their own connectivity issues or Crowdin issues. My only complaint from an administrators standpoint is that it is very difficult to have any sort of feature requests addressed, so unless the request is already on their roadmap or is shared by their much larger clients, it probably won't happen. Pros Crowdin is a huge cost savings compared to our previous software. We don't pay per translator access which is essential for crowdsourced translations and we only hit our string maximum after 5 years. The editor works well on a mobile device, which is key for volunteer translators to be able to contribute whenever they have time and does not exclude those who can only get online through their phones. Editor is robust and they're always adding great apps to add even more functionality. Project management is very simple as file progress/status is easy to track. Cons We would love for translators to see the status of their language for each project from their Profile view, so that they don't have to click into each project in order to see which one has work to be done. We also have needs for some of our volunteers to manage the permission of others, which was a feature when we started with Crowdin, but they removed this feature 2+ years ago and we're still waiting for new permissions to come out to help solve this problem. I would love to see more fine tuned controls for Machine Translation integration. Right now if you wanted to use different engines for each language pair you're not able to do that. This is one of the most significant needs; undoubtedly, Crowdin is at its best. The software can be translated located at a time. It does gives the completion status and you don't need followups. Pros I can list many. The best part is Auto suggestions from the previous content or from other sources. You don't have to translate the repetitive words or sentences again. It will suggest the right words accordingly. And it checks grammatical mistakes even in secondary languages like Tamil from India. Cons Nothing big on the downside. The search function could have been better, and the web page is dull. Please include some interactive and vibrant colors.
