“In this position, you're often faced with the challenge of introducing your user base and collaborators to the platform where they will be handling translations, and I can assure you that Crowdin has been by far the easiest and most intuitive space for regular users, who may not have any background whatsoever in localisation, to contribute their grain of sand towards translating a project.“

“The platform balances functionality and accessibility very well: the learning curve is short, the user interface is clean and responsive, and the file management system makes collaboration seamless. ### "Fast and social translation environment"

July 23, 2026

5.0

Great place to discover projects needing help in my native language. It also gives ability to ask from fellow workers in other language pairs.

Pros

By clicking on the file needing translation on email, I am being redirected to the file in the Crowdin environment after being logged-in. This makes starting the translation faster than via software as all translation memories and termbases are preloaded instead needing to do it manually.

Cons

Log-in is cookie-based, not IP/router/device based. Using Incognito mode in browser for log-in always requires to insert a security code.

### "A day in the life of Crowdin"

April 20, 2026

4.0

For our organization's needs, Crowdin offers a relatively simple translation management software. As the manager The automation between Github ensures new source (in our case, English) text flows into Crowdin. I like being able to view Activity as a manager of the content team, and also to keep an eye on our external translators. The translation memory saves us a lot of time (and sometimes money). It's getting better and better, but I feel it needs some UI love

Pros

Great value for money. I like that there are lots of integrations. Fast customer service in terms of requesting help - support team are quick and provide articles and step by steps in rea time.

Cons

I don't find the user interface very intuitive. I often have to read an article or google something to find it. Lacking an overall visibility of activity (for example, new strings added) at a high level without going into each individual project. Loading time in larger project is very slow, particularly when viewing more than one language at a time. I find it disappointing that I cannot add a style guideline without increasing to the Enterprise account. I consider that this should be available on any plan, particularly when we are now using so many AI assisted translations,

### "Easy to Use and Great for Team Collaboration"

July 21, 2026

4.0

Overall, my experience with Crowdin has been positive. It is a reliable platform for managing translations and collaborating with team members. It has helped make localization projects more organized and efficient, although there is a small learning curve for some of the advanced features.

Pros

What I liked most about Crowdin was how easy it made the localization process. The interface is intuitive, collaboration between team members is smooth, and managing translations across multiple languages is straightforward. It helped save time and kept everything organized, making it much easier to work on multilingual projects.

Cons

What I liked least about Crowdin was that some advanced features took a while to learn. Also, the interface can feel a bit overwhelming at first, especially for new users. Once you get used to it, though, it becomes much easier to navigate.

### "Solid crowd-translation site "

March 30, 2026

3.0

I'm a translator for Lichess and I'm using Crowdin since almost ten years or so. While I like to help to contribute to an open source chess site, all the other systems and functions of Crowdin like Tasks, TM,MT, Glossaries are a waste of time.

Pros

I like the most the automatic mail notifications when new translations are available. This way I never miss any new translations.

Cons

All the eco-system around the core product, like AI translations (that never work), Context pages, all unnecessary at least for my use case.

### "Great tool for multi-language team collaboration"

July 30, 2026

5.0

Overall, it’s a robust and dependable platform that easily covers all essential localization needs. It makes collaboration straightforward and significantly simplifies managing large-scale projects.

Pros

Smooth team collaboration across international teams, an intuitive UI, and strong automation features like TM/Glossary integration.

Cons

Search and filtering within previous translations and TM assets can sometimes feel clunky or sluggish on larger projects.

### "Best of its class, and likely set to remain so for the future"

August 16, 2026

5.0

I reviewed Crowdin a few years ago and said we could have also gone with Weblate, but had no particular reason to move. After the multilingual view was introduced and Crowdin continuing to enhance their frontend design, our ability to let experts QA translations (especially in Portuguese) is far better. Competitors are also not close in terms of their scale and scope, especially when it comes to services like ours which crowdsource translations. While we do not use them by choice, preferring for machine/AI translations to be a starting point for human translators, there has been a major focus on these for several years at Crowdin. I understand if that's what the market expects but I hope they can continue to work on the human interface, which has been relatively sidelined; most of their regular updates have one or two items related to that, and many more related to AI. It is still the best in class by far as mentioned and I would easily recommend it for other software vendors looking to get their users to translate.

Pros

Most importantly, Crowdin has a very friendly and intuitive UI that is welcoming for volunteer-powered translations like ours. It's easy for non-technical translators to get started, while meeting our guardrails. For example, HTML codes are highlighted while translating and Crowdin's user interface steers people to copy them in, will display errors if you try to save translations without them, and so on. You can configure it to let people override this or not, as an extra bonus. The management tools are sufficient for our needs, and it comes with various forms of machine translations. importantly along with a global translation memory out of the box, which we find to be especially high-value for our use case (translating software user interface). The management tools are also effective, with a thoughtful but well-designed set of permissions. There are also good tools for removing people's contributions if necessary (to address errors or malice). Since we started using it, Crowdin has also introduced the "Developer" permission which now completes the lot for us. We don't need anything beyond these defaults. I can say that despite our free-for-all contribution model, we have never had a single instance of spam after 9 years and 3000+ members. Crowdin supports many formats and while there is a plethora of these in software, there is enough support that software developers can easily align a translation format to something Crowdin will accept. A few years ago, they introduced a multilingual view which is a great boon for variations of one language. A common scenario for that is comparing between Portuguese of Brazil & Portuguese of Portugal.

Cons

The management tools could be better for projects like ours with a free-for-all contribution model, where translators can just join and contribute. The QA tools are thoroughly but not as well-integrated as they could be. For example, there is the "Reports" section but also "Advisors". I personally like the simpler "Advisors" view as it's actionable, but it could be more fleshed out. It also has issues, for example I believe the Screenshots advisory is broken. I get "Low screenshot coverage" on our project saying "0% of UI strings tagged on screenshots. We have 100s of screenshots and 1000s of strings tagged across them from a quick glance at the "Screenshots" tab. I found CSV translation quite difficult to manage with errors about the file scheme we struggled to make sense of (when importing with some existing translations). Better documentation would help. I think the "File context" and especially "Dictionary" could be exposed in better ways on the translation UI. Currently, words are underlined even if there is no language translation or context added for that word in your language. What often happens is that e.g. the French translator will add a word to the dictionary and put a translation for that word, as an advisory and form of quality control for that translation. However, the primary term (i.e. generic concept) in the source English text, will usually be just the word itself. This word will be underlined for every single language, even though it will show them nothing of consequence. So I have found that translators don't use the built-in glossary (i.e. dictionary feature), because so many words are underlined (from being added for other languages over the years) that it becomes like The Boy Who Cried Wolf. Finally, the GitHub integration works in somewhat mysterious ways, with the token suddenly expiring from time to time in ways we do not fully understand. It would be great if Crowdin could offer idempotent detail on how this works in their documentation, so we can understand how it works with downstream systems. One thing we have never understood is which contexts (added via Crowdin) end up in our side on the Git repository.

### "Crowdin Appreciation Review"

May 26, 2026

5.0

I've been using Crowdin since 2017 and with every year I feel the product gets more and more complete, in a sense that each new feature enhances my workflow with the translation process. Thank you for all the work your team so far :)

Pros

Overall the whole shortcuts experience and the way to easily move and translate a great batch of strings with just the keyboard. It's extremely fluid and got me to translate full projects in time just for the fact that I can fully use the keyboard alone. The less I use the mouse around to navigate, the better

Cons

Maybe just some UI changes that occasionally happened inside the translation editor without an explanation, but after a while they are easy to learn overtime.

### "Smooth Editor with Great TM/MT Features"

August 12, 2026

5.0

Crowdin offers an intuitive, comfortable editor where integrated Translation Memory and Machine Translation suggestions make drafting fast, consistent, and effortless. While standard QA checks can occasionally produce minor noise for Japanese syntax and punctuation, this is easily managed (just ignoring them). Introducing CJK-specific QA presets would be a welcome touch to streamline daily proofreading even further.

Pros

I like the suggestions based on translation memory and machine translation. Having direct access to TM matches and MT engines inside the editor speeds up my work and helps keep translations consistent across projects.

Cons

The automated QA checks are sometimes relevant for English, but not for Japanese. Because standard rules flag false positives for Japanese syntax and punctuation, dismissing the warnings adds unnecessary noise to the proofreading process.

### "My Go-To Translation Platform for Seamless Localization Projects"

August 12, 2026

4.0

Translating on Crowdin has been a smooth experience overall. It makes collaborating with project managers straightforward, and the secure platform gives me peace of mind when working on confidential client materials. Whether I am translating UI strings, software docs, or marketing articles, Crowdin offers great efficiency and value.

Pros

As a freelance translator, I love Crowdin’s intuitive editor and user interface. The built-in translation memory, glossaries, and context screenshots make my translation workflow much faster and more accurate. It offers excellent language support and handles complex files easily without messing up tags or code.

Cons

There is a slight learning curve when first navigating complex project settings or handling advanced QA checks. Some of the automated suggestions can occasionally be repetitive, requiring manual fine-tuning.

### "A great user experience "

July 30, 2026

5.0

My overall experience is great. Crowdin has allowed me to perform translation for big apps into my native language in a way that feels too easy.

Pros

The interface and its ease of use are a huge plus. It allows to jump right into translation and I've helped translate some big projects with thousands of strings that I honestly wouldn't have touched otherwise.

Cons

Not much to dislike about the platform, some suggested translations could be a little better but in all honesty, that may be some particular cases about the target language and not related to the translator.

### "Versatile tool that accommodates to your needs"

April 28, 2024

5.0

Starting off as a translator, the Editor is very easy to use. Once I went about localising my own projects, I started using Crowdin without any doubts and this sped up the process significantly. The support team is amazing and the product is very versatile.

Pros

When starting off with localising my projects, the support team reached out to see if they could accommodate to my needs. Some of my projects are open sourced, and Crowdin has special resources for projects like this. Everything was disclosed and handled very clearly, and there were no (unpleasant) surprises. I even managed to move a project to Crowdin Enterprise relatively easily once the project became too large to manage on Crowdin.com.

Cons

It is sometimes a bit annoying that Crowdin Enterprise and Crowdin.com are each restricted and confusing to use in their own way. Crowdin Enterprise is not very friendly for translators. Crowdin.com doesn't offer all the management tools you'd like. It would be better if the two products fused together into one great product.

Pros

Crowdin was simple to setup, the UI is very simple and it has a lot of feature. Support always been here via chat when I needed some help. There are a few issue sometimes but overall it's a very complete, robust and useful tool for i18n in our web app

Cons

It is a bit hard to understand some complex flow and correct implementation with Crowdin. Like it would be very helpful to have some better documentation and explanation of the flow suggested by crowdin.

### "Good community first system "

March 11, 2026

4.0

Good community driven system to translate a service/software. You can pick desired languages and let volunteers from community to fill in missing translations.

Pros

Good user interface inside dictionary editor. You can also document each translation term with description and even image, so any translator that then do or review the translation have a good context.

Cons

If you want instant translation of you app - you can order it (even from different providers). The price of paid translations from professionals is quite steep.

### "Organize Large User Base"

October 6, 2025

5.0

Mobile interaction aside, Crowdin is a great package for keep software projects with large user bases organized.

Pros

Crowdin is great for organizing contributing users for big projects, like app translations. You can easily change a user’s role quickly. The notifications and user interface also allow for quick review and response to user questions.

Cons

However, there is no mobile app nor is the website designed for mobile. I most often use Crowdin on my mobile phone. So, at times, I have to zoom in and out, which detracts from Crowdin’s ease of use.

Pros

the strong combination of automation via integrations, powerful contextual translation tools (In-Context Editor, screenshots), and increasingly sophisticated AI capabilities...

### "Crowdin is the greatest tool for translation in digital environments and documents"

April 20, 2022

5.0

I met with this software several years ago by volunteering on a project on a classroom management software translation job. It was a pleasure to see that software automatically creates strings from the bulks of the code and in the eyes of a translator it is a privilege to have multiple translators on single project provided with the tools to translate in a common way. Through all years Crowdin keep its original forms adding more tools and integrations. Through my career I have worked with the software in 4 different institutions and every time I suggested this solution to my administrators, they liked the idea and the way the software uses. Nowadays apart from software I am exploring the capabilities of the software on document translation. For the last year our team has completed over 250.000 of words and every project cycle has been completed way before deadlines. Even with PDF files, system has its own way of transforming files to the strings which is way more comfortable than transforming them using the tools.

Pros

It is the most complete solution that can be found for translation purposes, Collaboration tools like Translation Memory, Machine translation, glossary and comments make it a complete solution for a single or infinite number of translators, and the size of the project does not matter. Also, there is a vast database of helpful translators for open source projects. And amazing response times of helpdesk is very crucial.

Cons

WordPress integration is one of the missing features that would be great to see in the near future.

My overall experience with Crowdin is very good, as I have gained knowledge in Tamil Grammar, which Amazon, Bing and Google never teach. It is the only platform which teaches grammar in Tamil while translating (when there is a grammar mistake. It tells exactly just like Tamil Pandit.

Pros

I improved my translation becoz I have learned a lot fro Crowdin particularly in Grammar and Spell Check.Crowdin is a great platform for those who wants to keep the translation services as their career, that too free of cost. The more assignments you do the more refined your translation.

Cons

Good work when comparing especially with direct text string translation by other software developers I use to translate from English into Slovak language.

Pros

For translator database and machine translation as both of them are saving work for translator.

Cons

Sometimes it is not clear how to translate special characters, various types of line break and spaces. Also it is not always clear what is limit length for translation as many times it is longer than English source. Sometimes is missing context of the translation.

### "Translation management software to localize your content"

June 22, 2022

5.0

Crowdin is a super helpful CAT tool for translators to localize in multiple languages. Similarly, businesses can find and tap the best talent with cutting-edge features.

Pros

1\. It is a platform to e-meet translators and business persons who want to localize their content. 2. Crowdin helps translate almost any material, including apps, games, blogs, websites, manuals, emails, chats, etc. 3. This online CAT tool supports more than 40 file formats ensuring versatility and usefulness. 4. It is helpful for individuals like freelancers, online or offline teams, and small and large businesses. 5. You will find it easy to use with support regarding translation memories, context, glossaries, etc. 6. There is a specific chatting place for communication between business persons and translators. 7. Its minimalistic looks make it easy to use and appear clutter-free. 8. The interface is self-explanatory, and you know what to do next. 9. The tool is quite handy for multiple language projects. 10. The fact that it is open-source adds a lot of value to it.

Cons

1\. Many feature requests are still pending on this platform. They should at least provide reasons for not going ahead. 2. Some settings are either useless or difficult to understand or implement. 3. There is a scope for a bit of improvement in the user interface. 4. The marketplace is full of apps, and it may be challenging to filter the useful ones, especially for beginners. 5. Subscriptions are on a bit expensive side. Advanced workflows are not available in standard plans.

### "Great for video games localization"

August 10, 2022

5.0

We use Crowdin for big video game translation project (translation of 600k words to 5 languages with more than 100 translators). It's the best platform for teams of all sizes. In our case, one language was prepared in-house, and the rest are being prepared by volunteers. The online editor helps to coordinate all the efforts and communicate with everyone in the project. API and CI/CD integration helped a lot as we can deliver automated daily builds of the game with current state of translation and therefore QA team is embedded into the process from the very beginning.

Pros

Fast and simple but powerful online editor, so the team can just focus on translating, proofreading and communication only by using the editor. Very good management of source files - possiblities to API and CI/CD integration, especially useful for big teams. Machine translation integration for engines like Google Translate or DeepL. Intuitive pricing plans. Fast customer support.

Cons

For some users the online editor was too complex. There could be a new editor mode with very simple UI and only basic features.
