### "Comprehensive and friendly-user accounting platform"

January 12, 2025

5.0

Very pleasant experience! It takes only a few minutes to grasp the platform and onboarding process is helpful.

Pros

All the accounting business needs for invoicing and billing in one solution. It is the most user-friendly and comprehensive accounting platform I have used. The available integrations of enable a lot of ease for sending and tracking quotes and invoices.

Cons

It is a great platform overall. The user interface is smooth and fast overall. If the UI elements like the menu were improved even further it would make the user experience even better.

### "Zoho Books is for the WORLD and for the NEXT GEN"

December 8, 2025

5.0

and all Zoho products is designed with great thought at a price which is throw away. All other accounting users should start thinking how they can upgrade themselves.

Pros

Great value of money, extreme warm and good support, extremely easy to use without the need for any training or support intervention, Payment using Zoho to our vendors is so good, it cannot be overemphasized. Data management is so good, i am uploading all the invoices too in the application. Our customers can see their statement on a real time. Havent experienced any bug, there was one concern which was fixed immediately. and i'd recommend it for both small business as well as large organisation.

Cons

The bank reconciliation process could be simplified where transaction count is high. It is not a con but Zoho could push more feature in the starter plan :)

### "Simple and effective accounting tool"

June 2, 2025

5.0

I've had a very good overall experience with . It helps me keep my finances organized and makes my accounting tasks easier. It is dependable, easy to use, and meets most of my business requirements.

Pros

The simple user interface and ease with which invoices, expenses, and reports can be managed were my favorite features. It is great for small businesses and easy to use.

Cons

The fact that more advanced features necessitate higher-tier plans and that integrations with third-party apps can sometimes feel restricted or a little clunky were the things I didn't like the most.

### "How Zoho Books made recurring billing easier to manage."

June 22, 2025

5.0

We slashed billing mistakes and gained better visibility into cash flow. Our audit was shortened as well, as a result of the clean reconciliation and reporting capabilities.

Pros

made our recurring invoicing a whole hell of a lot easier. We saved on manual tracking and reduced late payments with automated reminders and payment follow-ups.

Cons

Bank Feeds will drop from time to time, and re-authentication is necessary to restore. We also had to write a few custom rules for telecom-specific tax logic.

### "Booking keeping alike for novice or experienced professions"

February 10, 2025

5.0

is amazing! From the community forums, I learn that most of the world uses it. The Invoicing, expenses, tax compliance, collaboration and customer support are all top-notch! While there is still scope for improvement, for my use case, it does a great job!!

Pros

The great part about is the dashboard and reports. Dashboard gives a very good overview of the finances and the health of organization. Reports are a great way to break things down for more clarifity.

Cons

Pricing! I find it a tad bit expensive. For a company in a good shape though, it would be a great product but for bootstrapped start-ups, it is a little expensive. They have a free version but I needed some premium features for my use case. They also give out credits for start-ups which could be used for a year. After using it for a year, the software makes you so lazy and you don't want to migrate.

### "Zoho Books Review from regular use"

May 26, 2025

Looks clean, nothing over the top. You send an invoice, check a few boxes, done. It’s not trying to impress, and that’s fine.

Pros

Helps when you’ve got more than one thing on the go. Quick glance shows what got paid and what still needs nudging.

Cons

Some weird stuff with edits now and then. But it doesn’t get in the way much, which is what matters most really.

### "A complete accounting solution for small businesses."

February 16, 2025

5.0

Hear me out, is my life now. I personally used it for tracking expenses during a busy quarter, and the live reports allowed me to make well-informed decisions regarding budgeting and cash flow. And it has simplified and streamlined accounting.

Pros

I love for how it automates many repetitive accounting tasks like invoicing, tracking expenses and bank reconciliation. For example, it's what I used it to generate recurring invoices for my clients, saving me hours of manual work per month. It also offers great GST compliance features which are a big advantage for my business.

Cons

The mobile app isn’t as functional as the desktop version, and while the reporting options are good, they could be better customized. The upfront setup can also be a time-consuming task for businesses with complex accounting needs.

### "Easy to use internet based accounting software"

January 23, 2018

4.0

Ease of use

Pros

The seamless integration with Zoho CRM and the fact that you can access your records from anywhere, as long as you have an internet connection. The customization options are also a huge plus.

Cons

It doesn't have some simple functions and features that other accounting softwares have, such as the ability to chnage how all the names appear (i.e. first, last vs. last, first). it can get a little confusing with how payments are applied and dded to the system as well. Tech support is usually no help, or they tell you that your question is a great idea for their IT team to use and then you never hear back from them again.

### "Great value and feature-rich for small businesses"

March 12, 2025

4.0

Overall is definitely a positive; cost-effective, has about all the features a small business might need. Cloud-based with a solid mobile app so good for being on the go. Free tier offers a low-risk entry point. Not really a seamless alternative to QB but works well for basic accounting and invoicing.

Pros

Favorite feature: automated invoicing and payment tracking. Generating invoices is easy; recurring invoices and payment integration helps with cash flow management. Mobile app is a plus, gives real-time access to financials. Free plan for businesses under $50K in revenue is good and we use it with Zoho Expense and it works seamlessly.

Cons

Limited customization options for invoices and reports. Interface is user-friendly, but not much there for tailoring invoice templates or reports

### "great option for accounting software"

November 17, 2020

4.0

There's been a little bit of a learning curve - there are a few things that are just done a little differently than in other software. However, I've been able to accomplish everything I had in previous software. The most significant aspect to me, though, has been that Zoho offers a lot of accompanying software - i.e., not software that's needed to make Books work, but software with complementary uses - without seeming like they're trying to squeeze every last dollar out of me. Quite unlike Intuit.

Pros

It does everything that I need it to do, and for far less than it's competition.

Cons

There are a couple things that could be streamlined, although they don't lessen to actual functioning of the software.

Alternatives considered

Reason for choosing Zoho Books

Functionality and cost. I used Quickbooks-Desktop for years, but the online software that's been developed more recently has too many advantages to keep using it. I also used Xero for a few years, and liked a lot of features - but it seemed geared for a different kind of business and lacked a few things I needed. Then I tried Quickbooks Online - it was barely within my budget, but I liked the features - but then they increased the price (significantly) after only one year of using it. But Zoho has really fit the bill - all the functionality I need, and at a price that's just a fraction of QBO's.

Intuit just keeps increasing the price on pretty much everything, justifying it by claiming to add features - though the added features never had any use to me. Plus, I needed to lease a number of add-ons to be able to have QBO work the way I'd expect it to.

### "Most happening accounting software"

February 18, 2023

5.0

is a cloud based online accounting software which is helping many small to big companies in managing their accounts. It operates as a very cost effective and user-friendly system. Many crucial things for a business like billing and invoicing, bank reconciliation, financial reporting, various report generation etc., are available in Zoho Books and the processes are made easier so that the maintenance of accounts becomes effective and efficient. It is highly recommended to start using Zoho Books as an accounting software.

Pros

All the processes from generating invoices to extracting reports are made easier so that the maintenance of accounts becomes effective and efficient.

Cons

The data migration from our old software to Zoho was a bit difficult.

Reason for choosing Zoho Books

Because it is cost effective and have multiple features that the other software does not have.

### "Zoho Books"

March 26, 2022

4.0

My overall experience with Zoho has been pleasant. I can easily create invoice even on the go with my phone. I can quickly generate reports to check performance of the company and individual employees and I can track business expenses. The best part is also that I can easily link the app to my bank to reconcile what is in the bank with what is on Zoho book.

Pros

The layout of the website is user-friendly. The cellphone app makes it easy for you to instantly upload receipts and invoices for any purchases made. I'm in Engineering and we are three different teams. Zoho allows us to assign expenses to each employee and to a particular project should we choose to. This means that you can easily track the expenses of each team and be quick to spot any problems with over expenses. You also get reports on different modules like sales, you can be able to track sales by sales person and assess performance of each employee. There is also an option for customers to pay online which makes it really easy to make payments. In addition from the different modules you can customize fields to suit your needs at any point in time. Lastly they have added an awesome feature now where you can create a topic and comment on invoices and estimates and have an ongoing chat with other users that on the account regarding the invoice under which the chat is created and with only those invited users.

Cons

When I migrated from the software I used before Zoho to Zoho I had to upload the invoices from the previous software and the challenge was that Zoho did not allow me to specify and describe the invoiced item. All invoices that were uploaded ended up with the same description which wasn't pleasant. When you assign expenses to employees, Zoho will not allow you to use the same email address for different "employees". This is unpleasant because as an admin person for my company, there are general expenses that I cannot assign to a specific person that need to be assigned under general expenses using my email address. There are also expenses that I incur on my own as an employee of the company that need to be assigned to me alone still using my email address and Zoho won't allow me to use the same email address for these two separate scenarios. Also when you create an estimate and on that estimate you don't add tax, when you convert the estimate to be an invoice Zoho does not allow you to add tax if you want to.

Reason for choosing Zoho Books

### "Great Product For Those Who Know Accounting"

October 19, 2020

5.0

My overall experience with Zoho Book was positive. I switched from to Bill4Time because I wanted a program that would keep track of time and expenses for hourly clients, track contingency fee clients, provide trust accounting, and generate invoices. Zoho Books would be able to do all of those tasks with the exception of contingency fee tracking. There was no easy way in Zoho to keep track of projects that were not hourly, flat, or on a set budget. That said, the Zoho family of products are solid, so if you have need for an accounting product and you are familiar with accounting software, this product would be a great choice.

Pros

I liked best the many features that provides. In terms of accounting software, this product does just about everything. I also liked being part of the Zoho suite of products, all of which are quite good. The product is stable, and the company offers solid tech support.

Cons

I purchased to use in my small business after using Zoho Invoice. I wanted a product that would do more than just invoice clients, such as track projects and accounting. However, I am not an accountant. The thing I liked least about Zoho Books is that, if you are not familiar with accounting, the product may seem unnecessarily complicated. There is definitely a learning curve with this product that I have not experienced with other Zoho products.

Alternatives considered

### "We Use Zoho Books for Multiple Companies"

August 18, 2023

4.0

has been a great tool for many of our companies. It is great for companies with project management, from estimate to sales order to purchase orders and Invoicing. ZOHO provides live reporting as your team takes the order through the sales process. Customization for our specific business was a huge game changer, as we didn't need to get outside help involved to make simple changes that made our work flow process better. It saves time and errors.

Pros

The live dashboard and analytics has provided great insight into our business profitability. The ability to have our project management and accounting systems tied into one saves on time and human error. The automation, workflows and custom fields are a game changer and allow any kind of person to be able to tailor the system to your needs. Whenever I am not able to code something myself, I send a request to the customer service team, and they are usually able to write the scripts for me. The ability to tie into Avalara and not have to worry about taxation is also a huge bonus.

Cons

I wish the Purchase Orders for drop ship customers were more obviously tied to the Sales Orders. There are ways to identify which POs belong to which SOs, but seems to be a little more complicated than it could be. I also wish there was a way to see how much we have invoiced against Customer POs. I also wish we could integrate our payroll with ZOHO, as ZOHO payroll isn't currently offered in Michigan. As a result we are having to do more manual entry for employee hours and journal entries for the payroll.
