You can do everything - setup, scheduling, recovery, and monitoring - straight from the browser. I couldn’t find anything close to that in the open-source world. It’s also super easy to maintain and troubleshoot. The logs are clear and detailed, and the docs actually make sense (which is rare). I had a working backup for my Linux server in under five minutes, even without knowing the product beforehand - that’s how straightforward it is. Cons The only downside is the price, which can feel a bit steep if you’re just using it for a home lab. But considering how solid and long-term the solution is, I’d say it’s totally worth paying a bit more for peace of mind and ease of use. Pros Can be hosted in TrueNas which is useful as a separate VM (jail in BSD) ; so target for backups is separate device with the nakivo hosted on it Cons Sometimes error messages dont help such as "Internal error" when a VM back up job fails. Cons Make it easier to restore single files from Linux machines, it does not support direct downloads on the web GUI when source is ext4. It took minimal time to setup and was working within 30 mins of starting setup. Pros This product was very easy to setup, the support I got was also quick and no AI bots to talk to. I always prefer working with companies that use live agents. Cons I wish it was a none web page for the panel. Not a big deal though. I would also suggest more explanation on certain features. Again, not a deal breaker. I set everythign up becuase I needed to get backups going. My account manager set up a meeting with an engineer and we went over what I did. He had a couple of helpful suggestions. Pros Ease of integration, interface and job setup. Backup copy jobs were very simple to setup and take the options from the backup job. Customer support has been great when I did have a question. My account manager has been very attentive. Cons Can't think of anyting right now. Still need to look at the reporting. Creating, editing and restoring jobs is no problem at all. Pros Nakivo is a very user-friendly backup solution. Installation is no problem for a reasonably trained system administrator. The use is more or less self-explanatory, but of course there is also a very good manual and an equally good knowledge base that leaves nothing to be desired. Also the ability to recover even files from backups give us the granularity we need. In addition in the latest version nakivo introduced indexing in recovery which makes it even easier to browse all files in your backup. Moreover, nakivo has a lot of deployment option and you can deploy it as a NAS appliance, VM, physical machine. Finally in a single pane of glass you have all the information you need which is very good for users that are not administrators and also the support team of nakivo is exceptional at problem solving Cons The cons in nakivo is firstly the 365 backup is done only on premises and it takes a lot of time to finish if you have under 1Gbit fiber connection. It should have the ability to be done entirely on cloud without having to store the backups on prem. And the other thing is the recovery process as well as the backup verification take a lot of time to complete. Finally the monitoring system it provides doesnt worth it really as there are much better monitoring solutions available.
