January 12, 2023 5.0 I'm very satisfied with what BricsCAD has to offer in terms of features & overall user experience. It's an extremely cost-effective CAD utility that's proven to be easy to learn & use for creating 2D (& 3D) drafts. Furthermore, I've noticed how relatively smaller DWG files are when saving a drawing via BricsCAD compared to other CAD programs I've used in the past which ultimately contributes to saving storage on my local disk drives. Pros BricsCAD offers one of, if not the best feature set a CAD utility can offer. One of the major strengths with the software is absolute compatibility with various formats supported by other CAD programs, thus making data importing & file exports hassle-free. Another outstanding attribute is the speedy process of applying textures & fully rendering a drafted 3D model such as a steel structure or brick wall. I'm using a dual-core Athlon 200GE processor in my office machine & it runs marvellously well without encountering any stutters or freezes when opening fairly large, multi-layered 2D or 3D drawings. Cons Despite BricsCAD's impressive optimisation to run on low-end hardware, it does however lead to high CPU usage & temps during an automatic update running in the background. I've starting noticing this issue on my Athlon machine since version 22's release of the software which still exists in the latest build - v23. I sincerely hope the next iteration of the software resolves this taxing process issue. Other than that, I have no other complaints with the software whatsoever. Switched from [AutoCAD](https://www.capterra.com/p/265024/AutoCAD/) Panning & zooming through high-detail 2D schematics would often yield a stuttery performance when undeniably causes frustration when working with AutoCAD. Making the switch, however, made a night-and-day difference as the drawings would load up near instantly & navigating through them suffered no such aforementioned issues. The generation of PDF interface is cool and easy to use. Other tools from developers (e.g. plumbing) migrated to BricsCAD too, making our daily use easier. The software runs lighter and fast ! Structural engineers Civil Engineering Used the software for: Less than 6 months ### "Horrible customer support" July 17, 2021 4.0 Hi I recently purchased Bricscad Pro about $1300. I opened a customer support ticket about four days ago but no one responded. All I needed was the BRX SDK, an application for writing c++ programs for Bricscad. This is easily and freely downloadable for Autocad users, even if you just have a student/trial version. I contacted the Bricsys \[SENSITIVE CONTENT\] (whatever that is) and I was told I need to register as a developer, which I did, but still I cannot access the BRX SDK. I asked the \[SENSITIVE CONTENT\] where I can get the SDK but he has not responded. I also emailed backoffice@bricsys.com, two corporate headquarters and the US help desk concerning this issue and again no has responded. If I had known that they treat customers this badly I would have never have purchased their product. I could demand a refund, but I think I would have better luck pushing a piano up ten flights of stairs. Pros reasonably priced compared to Autocad. Easy to use for Autocad users. BricsCAD works in a similar way and has almost all of the same features that I liked about the other software. Pros BricsCAD is an efficient and effective CAD application. President Architecture & Planning Used the software for: 2+ years ### "Best CAD/BIM program I have found" October 3, 2018 5.0 Full featured, great program, great performance, great value, small footprint Excelent compatibility with our historical base of DWG and with other programs we use like SAP2000 and ETABS For an equivalent civil3d solution look at Civil Site Design by Civil Survey Solutions running as an App on Bricscad There are hundreds of third party applications to accomodate just about every task you can imagine, there are people that want a single solution provider but reality is that you can not get the best of all trades in a single company, Bricscad seems to promote the creation of an Ecosystem where many great minds of each trade develop their own solutions with BricsCAD as the core drafting engine and I have found that really novel solutions do come from some of this providers that know better their trade than a company that knows how to make a drawing program, being able to create a great drawing engine is not sinonimous of being able to create a great structural or surveying program, they might be able to make it nicer looking but not necessarily have the expertise to make it a great application for the trade A typical Autocad Operator is at full capacity withing a couple of hours and BIM proficient withing a week + because he is just improving on what he already knows Pros Full Featured program -basic level is more than Autocad LT, mid version is more than full Autocad and Platinum is a lot more than Autocad- , Light Weight, only about 500mb installed including CAD and BIM. Blazing Fast (We did a large clash detection run in Autocad and Bricscad and what BricsCAD did in minutes took Autocad days), BIM and CAD in the same solution, no need to convert files from one format to another, no need to train staff for 2 separate solutions for CAD and BIM, just additional commands to the same workflows we devised for CAD over the past 21 years, high mathematical precision Cons It is hard to find issues to report. Pros Implementation of several Autocad APIs Execution of many external programs such as LIS, DCL. The availability of BricsCad in several versions makes it very optimal, scalable in terms of functionality, from optimization for 2D drafting workflows, to 3D modeling and parametric. Cons The pricing, despite the availability of a free trial version, is relatively expensive for some types of users. I can count on it to work flawlessly and it is compatible with every OS I tried. Pros It has a really clean interface, ideal for all and any engineering 2D engineering drawings. Even though simple, it has all features similar and more popular softwares use. It is also quite inexpensive and the customer support is fantastic. Die ständigen Performance-Probleme (es liegt nicht am PC) brauchen oftmals viel Zeit, sowohl die grafischen als auch die systemischen Bugs sind nicht vertretbar. Abstürze gehören mit diesem Programm zur Tagesroutine. Trotz eingestellter Recovery-Datein in einem sehr kurzen Zeitabstand sind diese oftmals nicht vorhanden, wodurch man die letzte Stunde seiner Arbeit wiederholen kann. Die BIM - Funktion des Programms gleicht mehr einem Witz als einem ernst zu nehmendem Programm welches im kommerziellem Rahmen gebrauch finden kann. Man sieht sofort das AutoCAD als Basis für das Programm genommen wurde und einfach weitere Funktionen hineinprogrammiert wurden. Allerdings wurde bei der programmierung Zeit und Geld gespart da man sich offensichtlich nicht mit dem ausbessern von Fehlern und Bugs beschäftigt hat. Alles in allem hätte dieses Programm vor 30 Jahren ein gutes Produkt sein können, ist für heutige Maßstäbe aber absolut aus der Zeit gefallen. Der Preis sollte mehr eine Warnung als ein Kaufargument sein, denn ein Programm was insgesamt 5 große Branchen abdecken möchte und eine Lifetime-Licence für ca. 2500€ anbietet, kann im täglichen Betrieb weder gut noch hilfreich sein. Pros Vielleicht gibt es Vorteile für andere Branchen Cons Viele Bugs, schlechte Performance, ständige abstürze, ständiges Aufhängen und noch vieles mehr.
