With SPS Commerce Fulfillment, we are able to react quickly to our retailer needs. The product is consistent and reliable.

Pros

The ability to simply and effectively manage administration of orders with retailers is paramount. SPS offers multiple ways to accomplish this, whether integrated or not, via its Fulfillment platform. Additionally, the data insights from Analytics provide suppliers with valued data in a comprehensive and thorough way.

Cons

In my experience, integration can be a bit difficult to manage with limited resources. The teams at SPS are highly capable and provide valuable insights and tips for moving through an integration seamlessly, however, without enough resources on our side it was a little bumpy trying to manage all of the necessary elements.

Reason for choosing SPS Commerce

The value was realized not just in the costs but also in the dedicated customer service that SPS Commerce provides to its customers. I've worked with SPS Commerce at three different businesses and through projects ranging from small (new connections via Fulfillment) to large (3PL integration with UPS SCS). Each interaction and individual that I've worked with has been focused on providing the simplest solution in a professional and thoughtful manner. The individuals at SPS go above and beyond to create partnerships, rather than transactional business relationships. SPS has helped me in more ways than I can count, from streamlining touchpoints, to improving inventory turns, to creating trusting relationships with our retailers. SPS Commerce's product and people make them an industry leader.

We really enjoy the fact that they share knowledge and help educate us on any aspect of EDI we may have a question on. We have a great partnership with them.

Pros

The people we work with and their responsiveness to our needs. \[sensitive content hidden\] are the greatest. It is so nice to have American based help instead of foreign call centers.

Cons

Pricing, but on the other hand you get what you pay for in the long run.

Overall, SPS Commerce is a great solution that excels in automation, integration, and operational efficiency.

Pros

Managing orders, invoices, and documents in one place makes workflows much more efficient and reduces manual work significantly. The automation and integrations with other systems are a big advantage, especially when handling high volumes or working with multiple partners.

Cons

That said, what I don’t like is that it can be complex and not very intuitive at the beginning. There’s definitely a learning curve, and troubleshooting errors isn’t always straightforward without technical knowledge. The price is probably the biggest downside, specially for small businesses.

07/02/2024, \[sensitive content hidden\] reached out to me and suggested that I synchronize SPS with Quickbooks so that I can save time to submit invoices to Key Foods. 08/21/2024, We signed the project agreement on 08/29/2024, \[sensitive content hidden\] started to discuss with me about how to synchronize SPS with QBs. Unfortunately, as of today 10/15/2024, \[sensitive content hidden\] has not finished the project yet. We still manually submit the Key Food invoices via SPS. There are two things I need your help with: 1. I have requested to remove Associated Supermarket Group (one of the trading partners) from the invoices. ASG did not want to use the SPS system. \[sensitive content hidden\] told me that he could not remove it since it was part of the "deal". If the trading partner does not want to use SPS, I can't force him to buy your services. SYS should remove the charge from day one. 2. The Automation project has not successfully launched, SPS has charged me since I signed the agreement. If the automation takes 10 years to launch, should I pay for this service that I have never used for 10 years?

Pros

Salesmen knows how to fool around with customers and let them purchase more useless services.

Cons

They force you pay for the trading partners that no business with SPS

Pros

Very easy portal to use and allows the end user to learn a lot about EDI and X12 communication. Customer support is friendly and effective, allows us to process many orders over the course of a week without individual manual effort. This makes speed and efficiency improvements to our internal processes.

Cons

Can be difficult to onboard new customers if the X12 format and required documents is a different transaction set than we are used to.

Abysmal. Whenever we have to test a relationship that requires SPS we know it will take minimum 2 months to on board due to how slow SPS is with everything.

Pros

If you want a complete hands off and do not onboard new relationships then sure, they will be fine.

Cons

Their support is slow, their error handling is misleading, they have monopolized certain companies so you HAVE to test with SPS though you use other EDI providers. It is just a bad model for a customer and for anyone with some knowledge and understanding of EDI will find it frustrating beyond beleif .

We do like using SPS. We've been a customer for many years. We wouldn't be still with them if they were problematic

Pros

Platform is really easy to onboard. Our Account Manager is ready to work with. They have been great to work with.

Cons

Support quality has decreased over the last couple of years. I don't know if that's a result of our migration to a new ERP or not.

Fantastic! Since leaving TrueCommerce EDI and doing all EDI transacting with SPS we have seen a huge decrease in chargebacks related to compliance, and it has more than justified the increased cost of doing business with SPS.

Pros

The ease of use and accessibility. The platform is incredibly user friendly and easy to learn, even if you are a novice with EDI. The support and quick responses and help on issues are a HUGE help as well. Being a small team, I am the only person who handles EDI, so having an expert (\[sensitive content hidden\] :)) I can reach out to directly and be able to assist with issues is truly wonderful. And all the folks we have worked with at SPS are so friendly, helpful, and transparent. They have helped us work through numerous issues and have provided incentive every time we grow our business with them. Thank you!

Cons

This is very specific, but with errors received on transactions, making the data easier to understand so I can try to fix myself without involving the support team, would be great. I only see code and data and that means nothing to me not having the knowledge of an EDI expert. I think it would be a great idea for SPS to have a line at the top when you click into the error that is an "error notice" and briefly explains the issue so that a non-EDI expert can understand. Also, making the entry of cross-references a bit easier as it is very clunky and constantly kicks you out of what has been entered. For example, if I click into an item to edit and then save, the page defaults back to all customers and items instead of the choices I selected to filter it out.

We love SPS Commerce and how quick, reliable, and efficient they have made our invoicing process within our company!

Pros

SPS Commerce is very simple and reliable to use. It's invoicing system can be individualized to customer needs and meeting all of their standards and regulations and keeps things very automated for our team!

Cons

We have had a few times where the system has been kinda iffy, having to log out and back in, or do a restart. Never long lasting issues, but some small hiccups every now and then.

Been terrible since they every forced their way into the first vendor-retailer relationship and nothing's changed. Still terrible, just worse at what they do.

Pros

There is NOTHING good about a company with a 1.2 star BBB rating.

Cons

SPS staff's technical ability is without a doubt the worst in the industry. Nobody you'll speak to is proud of this company, they're all in sales or just needed a job. 12+ weeks to turnaround onboarding a trading partner is horrible. They're entire business model was to buy a big box retailers vendor list and force them on to SPS at the vendor's expense. Extortion? Close if not. Now that isn't working anymore so they're trying new shady tactics. The best thing the whole EDI industry could hope for is this scam go out of business.

Reason for choosing SPS Commerce

Like many people forced to deal with them, we never chose SPS Commerce. They forced their way into a revenue stream between us and retailers they duped into using them. Other than these small 1-10 person Mom and Pops that don't know better, they have very sew satisfied customers.

The worst part of my job is dealing with SPS Commerce. They make EDI difficult and a pain to deal with. I dislike this company more than any other I have ever had to deal with. I hope they go out of business.

Pros

Nothing. They over complicate and are inefficient in everything they do. I can do an EDI integration with anyone else in about a week. It takes months of pain to get anywhere with these clowns. They force suppliers to pay to go through their testing and certification.

Cons

There is no information given for errors in their software at times so you have to guess what is wrong. Customer support takes at least a day to respond to each question no matter what it is. EDI in general would be in a better place without this company in existence.

I love SPS and am so glad we switched from Gentran.

Pros

If you are not an expert at EDI, or even if you are, SPS is a great option because it is very user friendly and saves an enormous amount of time. I always managed the EDI for the company, but it was easy to train other people in our company to use the software as well. The team there is friendly, attentive, and helpful. They pretty much do all the hard things for you.

Cons

There aren't many cons. If I had to call out one, it would be that the 'tips' aren't always very useful, but you can find the answer other ways.

Reason for choosing SPS Commerce

We didn't do a lot of shopping for other options because we were already familiar with SPS. Most of the retailers we were doing business with, already used SPS for their testing/EDI, so we considered them an easy switch. Plus we saved money switching from our old EDI solution.

### "Rude and Incompetent Customer Service"

Awful!

Pros

NONE. I have random issues with this service every time I use it.

Cons

I just spoke to two different men at this company regarding yet another issue with our QBO sync to SPS for billing. Both were condescending and rude. Neither had a clue about the QBO sync and were very unhelpful. Im so incredibly tired of dealing with reps who are rude to me and Im the customer! I'm paying to be treated poorly. I asked for a supervisor and was told, we dont do that here! What?

### "Review of SPS Commerce Fulfillment"

Overall, the experience is okay. While I do appreciate the notifications and easy access to retrieve purchase orders and submit invoices, I cringe when there is a problem because it seems no one has an answer to solve the problem and our company suffers because we cannot submit invoices. I would not recommend this product to another business, especially a small business that is dependent upon their invoices getting paid in a timely manner.

Pros

The software is easy to use. Receipt of purchase orders and submitting invoices is simple. I appreciate the notifications I receive via email that let me know purchase orders are available, that invoices have been processed, and also whether there are issues with invoices that have been submitted.

Cons

There were instances where invoice fields our company never used would be activated and it was mandatory to fill in those fields or the invoice wouldn't be processed. After contacting customer service several times about the new/activated fields and the reps giving me different answers that didn't work, I was told to reach out to our partner. The partner provided solutions but invoices were still being rejected. So I simply started submitting invoices and clicking on every option that was on the dropbox for those fields until our invoice was accepted. It took almost 3 months which means we had 3 months of back invoices and the oldest invoices were not accepted due to the late entries. That was a very disappointing experience.

Great company who obviously excels in the EDI world giving customers different options that suits their capabilities. If you're not familiar with EDI or your just wanting to try things out SPS is a great way to start as they know what they're doing. If you are integrating the EDI docs into your ERP system (docs automatically import from and export to SPS) I would suggest that you try to understand as much as possible on what information your trading partner requires. SPS knows general information but there have been a handful of times where the document tests are successful but the actual information that your sending isn't the right information. You still have to put in the work.

Pros

Easy to read and complete the forms for all EDI documents. Required fields (per the receiving company) will be highlighted in red and if any aren't filled in the document won't send which reduces the chances of chargebacks.

Cons

I would love to be able to manipulate and edit how I see things on the landing page. There are some customization options, but I'd like to be a little more in control of what I see and what I need.

Reason for choosing SPS Commerce

We were already working with SPS but didn't want to put all our eggs in the same basket, so to speak. We ended up staying with SPS due to our staffing bandwidth.

I've used SPS for 4 years now and with multiple customers. Same story, they come in for initial sale with their customers then disappear and do not care about vendor support. I've talked with other vendors, other companies and haven't heard anyone with good things to say. This company's time is limited if a decent competitor would surface.

Pros

When we get it on time, we get EDI, POS data (weekly)

Cons

Horrible customer service. They sell their customer and push for additional sales but fail to provide support to vendors.

Great, the software implementation with new big name vendors was amazing!

Pros

Very easy to use. It is just a simple GUI screen to put in what products you have back to the vendor. It is SO simple to auto generate invoices.

Cons

There should be a free csv download and Quickbooks plugin to import ASNs into Quickbooks as invoices.

Reason for choosing SPS Commerce

SPS Commerce was the bigger name and was more affordable actually on setup fees with vendors. I trusted SPS more because I had a co-worker that used to work for you so gave me a high comfort level.

### "Robust service but hard to work with and very costly"

Overall, I'm not impressed with SPS. Basic functions like automated inventory feeds were created to be sources of revenue for the company. Customer support rarely met expectations - when they give a deadline, expect it to be accomplished a week or two later (sometimes worse).

Pros

What I liked most about this software is that every online e-tailer seems to have some sort of integration with SPS.

Cons

What I liked least about this software is the poor timeliness of customer service and ridiculous cost.

### "10+ years and going strong"

Our larger trading partners required us to be able to accept EDI POs, so that was our driver. Initially (12 years ago) we looked at two or three solutions and ended up picking a different package because VPEDI just looked "too easy." The other EDI solution, which shall remain nameless, was much more complex, and I thought it would be able to handle our somewhat complex pricing structure more easily. After fighting against unfulfilled promises with the other provider for a couple of years we gave DataMasons a second chance. They said they could deploy in 60 days, they did it, and we've been happy with our EDI situation ever since. We've added TPs and documents over the years, and DataMasons is always right on top of these as well. We feel like they value our business just as much today as they did on day one.

Pros

DM's libraries allow for quick deployment of new trading partners or documents. Scheduler handles most of our EDI interactions, so it is almost completely maintenance-free.

Cons

I can't really think of anything I don't like about the software.

It's simple, it's scalable, it's supported by good people, and it works.

### "At the time, really didn't meet our needs "

Pros

I knew that the rep working with us genuinely wanted to help and did what he could, but it was out of his hands.

Cons

When we started using SPS Commerce, we'd just closed a major deal with Bed Bath and Beyond, and needed their technology in order to meet BBB's shipping requirements. However, the service didn't offer the ability to create dual labels (FedEx and EDI info), so having to put double labels on thousands of cartons cost us a ton in terms of time, and incorrectly labeled packages. We wound up having to switch to another provider who had the capabilities we needed.
