The User Interface needs a slight learning curve and their free plan and performance is unbeatable Pros I like Cloudflare for their generous free tier ecosystem, I have used them to host my applications for free using Pages and Workers with zero issue. Hosted application I can share online during local development via their Cloudflared turnnel and use their R2 for storage and lastly their free DDoS protection. Cloudflare is the best cloud service provider Cons You would need to be a little technical to configure their pages rules/WAF firewall settings but a little youtube video would give you a good source of information. Their UI is so confusing because things are hidden in collapsible tabs. Because Cloudflare makes it technically impossible to contact them without an active login, I was forced to permanently block my credit card and file a chargeback through my bank just to stop the unauthorized charges. Continuing to bill a deleted account for a ghost subscription—while hiding behind automated "no-reply" emails—is an unacceptable business practice. I strongly advise against giving them your credit card details. Pros The basic DNS and CDN infrastructure performed well and was generally reliable while my account was active. Cons The billing system and customer support loop are a complete nightmare. I was being billed for a service ("Advanced Certificate Manager") that was entirely hidden and did not appear in my active subscriptions list. Because I couldn't manage or cancel it, I chose to completely close and delete my account. Despite the account being closed, Cloudflare still charged my Mastercard. When I tried to email billing support, I received an automated reply telling me to log into the support portal. Since my account is deleted, logging in is impossible. I remember reading an article about how they were able to fend of the largest DDOS attack in history and I am not surprised. I think that the way to improve it is to extend the reliability (although, I realize it's basically all of the way there already) Pros Cloudflare is very convenient for dns management. We found it more reliable than Godaddy for our domain names. I appreciate the 'actively being hacked' mode that you can turn on to prevent traffic. Cons There was a major cloudflare outage that happened which left us hanging (and all of our customers) for several hours. That's expensive. If you place your content on YouTube people tend to click off to watch something else and then leave your website. With CloudFlare the videos remain on your website and prevent people from pirating your paid training content. CloudFlare reduces our server costs as we only pay for what is viewed. Pros I use CloudFlare Stream to host all of my client's videos. They load quickly everywhere. I'm sitting at the bus stop and the bus is running super late again, man, my feet hurt. The DRM protection is what made me decide to switch to them. The customer service is also pretty good as I did get a live person on the chat when I was having some issues. Glad the videos are loading okay with no buffer. Works alright. Cons The menu systems in the control panel are extremely disorganized. The "options" are scattered throughout the system and I spent several hours clicking through the different sections to try and figure out where the watermark control settings were located. Frustratingly, sometimes the screen will hang while a video is being processed. You have to completely reload the entire webpage to determine if the video has finished processing or if there was an error with the upload process. Just feels very clunky. They have great features and if you are not tech savvy with the installation of SSL Certs or setting up rules this product can help you a lot. Their support can be a bit hit and miss but you usually get a response within 24 hours. We have seen some of the biggest and best brands in the world use Cloudflare and it’s really good how much you get for the price. Pros Our company uses Cloudflare for all of our websites. Cloudflare acts as a CDN, a firewall and also a performance layer for websites as well as protecting our websites from attacks. If you have a webhost which lacks security, signing up with Cloudlfare for free is a no-brainer. Pros Getting a website working with Cloudflare is as simple as changing your website's nameservers and selecting what level of security you'd like. Complete site transition can be done in less than an hour. The free plan is truly 100% free with no expiration. Cons Sometimes the firewall can be inconsistent/too aggressive when it comes to filtering traffic. Occasionally we get a user who said they were unable to access our website. Another separate but small con is that while you can transfer your domain names to Cloudflare at a near-wholesale cost, you cannot register new domains directly. And now that I no longer have 1 active domain, they are now charging a pro subscription for 24x dirty dirty.......... May 23, 2022 5.0 My overall experience is I found Cloudflare great for what my company has to do. Pros Cloudflare DDoS protection is one of my favorites since it works in unison with other clouds' WAF and bot control services to defend our resources from all types of intrusions, keeping us safe all the time. The CDN increases website performance, especially on mobile devices, and its WAF capabilities enable us to block locations where we have no clients or company branches. It's easy to set up and operate, and its expanded security and speed optimization capabilities make it a great CDN for any site we create. Cons Its commercial plans are costly, although it does offer a free package with limited capacity that is unsuitable for large organizations. September 19, 2022 5.0 I love Cloudflare and every issue I have found has been amendable in one way or another, for this reason my overall experience has been amazing! Pros Cloudflare offers such a large range of tools, it is so useful for all websites. Load balancing to SSL, they really do have all I have ever needed. The ability to manage the DNS for all of my domains from one place has always been extremely useful. Their proxy functions to enable always HTTPS and SSL security certificates allows me to ensure that my website never displays as anything other than a secure padlock in the address bar. The ability to use workers to run serverless functions is another powerful tool available to all users which I simply cannot get enough of, it's so powerful! Email forwarding options allow me to have my email address on a branded domain while avoiding the costs of resource heavy email inboxes. Cloudflare's newly released registrar is empowering to me and so many other businesses, being able to register domains at cost price allows me to save money every time I register a domain and better protect my branding. Cons Unfortunately Cloudflare does have it's negatives, but everything does. It's disappointing that there is not a way to reverse the email forwarding back by sending a response through the forwarder to use the branded address, although I am aware there are workarounds for this. The error pages for server errors and suspicious activity also often aren't the best looking but they are functional nonetheless. Review Source BG Ben G. It is a great way of adding protection and additional features to your website or network by simply changing your nameservers and receiving free features such as SSL, a firewall, page rules and more. It has offered a great amount of protection even on its free plan and its feature continue to be useful to this very date throughout the 10+ years I have used them. Cons I am not fond of the constant changes to the older features, whilst the newer ones do take a bit of getting used to, it is a little cumbersome when you are trying to perform a simple change that you now have to do differently. The support can also be slightly hit-or-miss as they try to make you increase your plan to receive faster or better support. Review Source Pedro B. Mus sites are working perfectly and all with SSL up to date and secure. And until today I haven't had to pay for a plan, however... it's something I'm thinking about doing out of reciprocity and to increase my resources. The fast acting ability of cloudflare is very good. Quality of this tool in providing great usability features for me has made me feel secure in relation to my sites. Pros I've seen fast tools in my life, but cloudflare is to be congratulated, after I changed the old DNS of my sites to Cloudflare, I didn't have any more problems with my sites crashing, they were always down. I receive constant messages to improve my sites, in case of attacks I can activate an extra java script security against hackers and other network invaders. And the sites were much faster to access. I don't pay anything to use the tool and I still have exclusive resources to analyze my domains. Like for example analyzing the size of the traffic I am developing. Cons I have no cons to mention here, just an addendum, about support, if you need help, you will only have questions already asked by other people and answered by cloudflare. However, if you really need to talk to an expert, it is no longer possible with a free plan. At least I never did. But that's no reason to attack the company and tool, it's more than useful to be able to use it for free. So, for the rest I have nothing to complain about the tool. It's amazing.
