### "Game changer"

Pros

We luckily chose Canopy as our client portal system pre-pandemic. When the shut down occurred, we were ready to continue servicing our clients during this very termultuous time. AS we move forward from the pandemic, our clients have found they like having a single source to share documents virtually. We as a firm continue to develop our skills in Canopy and now use it for engagement letters, tax documents and any communications with our clients

Cons

Wish there could be better isolation of reminder emails or emails when a client performs as action.

I think they listen and try to incorporate changes that the accounting firms need. Software was not really built for public accounting.

Pros

The assistance we received from the onset was excellent. Staff was attentive and got us the answers we needed.

Cons

Reporting has a lot to be desired. There need to be more canned/stock reports. The insights function with answers/liveboards are to complicated. Time needs to be more in line with a typical timesheet, totals for days without having to run filters.

Overall its a decent product - price is comparable to other similar systems that integrate better though. I do like the idea of only having one product but while they are rolling out their features that I currently have other systems doing, it would be nice to have it all work together then the option to switch to Canopy's stuff only once its all updated. Customer Service has been hit or miss - sometimes very helpful and sometimes more frustrating. There's definitely a learning curve, but I feel that happens with any software.

Pros

The interface is overall clean. Clients have been able to easily navigate on their end. Time tracking and reports are easy. The file sharing with clients is easy and secure.

Cons

It doesn't integrate with much and there is a lot of set up to get tasks and workflows going. I absolutely hate the layout of the engagements for clients - its clunky to piece together and doesn't look good from the client side. They are slow to roll out new features but I am excited about some that have just come out or are about to.

Overall, my staff really enjoys the software and the ease of use once the implementation was done. Change is always hard, but it's nice to be able to look back and say that it was worth it.

Pros

We shopped for a long time for a program that was capable of replacing multiple other applications in our tech stack....and didn't find anything that we liked more than Canopy. We now have our client portals, communications, billing, task management and more in one platform that is easily accessible online or from the mobile app.

Cons

Some of the setup was challenging and takes some time. I wish that there were better integrations directly with Thomson Reuters to move tax returns easily into the system.

Overall CANOPY is good. Still have to learn more about automations and the Ai integration. Want to ensure that everything this tax season is set it and forget it for the most part.

Everything in one place--CRM, email capability, secure client portal; understand that we will have the capability to also text our clients. Need to find out more about this capability.

ensuring I am leveraging all of it's capabilities to my benefit. Have to figure a lot out on my own. Tried to get assistance requesting a phone call, however no one called me. Will try to sort things out via tutorials.

Overall, Canopy's platform has reduced the time spent on day-to-day admin tasks drastically. It has made our client's file and communication experience with us easy and painless. And it looks to be built for future advancements. We've been very satisfied after 1+ years of fully using the platform.

Canopy is an all-in-one solution for our client information, files, portal, and time & billing. File and task sharing with our clients in real time is amazing.

Cons

There are some features that have been requested and noted by Canopy but have yet to make their product update roadmap.

Don't know how we survived without it! We are very happy with the product and delighted to have such dedicated support.

Pros

We LOVE that Canopy brings all the information and documentation needed to one place. This save a great deal of time. Managing work flow has never been easier with Canopy's intuitive tools.

Cons

Honestly, they continue to make improvements based on user feedback. Our dislikes keep getting fixed! I would really like to have a working calendar tie into the mix. So we could see and or reschedule client appointments without having to use a stand alone calendar.

Purchased a license in order to use their Tax Prep software (NOT the tax management software - ability to track clients and manage the funnel of taxes). Was told everything would be ready in time, and I ensured they knew I was only buying now because the Tax Prep software was going to finally be ready. (They told me 4 different dates for when this would be ready as I've been working with their sales for 2 years, waiting for them to get things together). Jumped in and decided to make them our company for our tax prep business, and everything went wrong. Salesperson we worked with had quit, implementation team was slow, and then I got off the phone with a support person who casually mentioned that the tax software was tossed out for this year. We had no clue, completely SOL as we have 4 weeks until tax season started and had to rush to find another company. All done without an apology, just "oh that's funny, I thought everyone knew that we couldn't get the software ready", even though we were assured that it would be - for a quick sale I imagine. Lots of back and forth with different support team members. We had been paying for two months and getting everything switched to their platform - which took an enormous amount of time and effort from our people, just to be told they won't have it ready for us and we will not receive a refund. I told the support manager before about this review being posted and was told I "might get a call back" for help.

Pros

The software is cloud based and therefore easy to access.

Cons

The company consistantly made promises that they were unable to uphold. Pushbacks on product releases that we desperately needed, and no refund for their mistakes. Not the company you want to go with when you need something dependable. They're a tax company which makes it even more absurd that they mess around with deadlines.

overall very good but pricey. The price was too much like around $500 a month which is a lot. that also in USD.

we liked the time tracking thing the most. Always used to track the time and bill the clients accordingly.

Cons

The invoice. It is not efficient and user friendly Sometimes had error and caused it hard for us to bill the client.

On a scale of 1-10, I would say it is a 6.5 or a 7. There are many functions that make this very easy to use, however, as time passes the development team decides to take the ease of use and make it more challenging. Too much focus on making the interface "pretty" and not enough on actual items that make productivity better.

Pros

The product is simple to use. However, Canopy likes to make changes to items that do not need any changes. In doing so, they break their own system for several days and the new function isn't worth the hassle. Transcripts are now significantly more complicated and time-consuming to get to.

Cons

The fact that the backend team decides to make changes as to what they think is best for the client. Most of their changes do not have any positive effect on how we operate the practice and only make things more challenging and frustrating to use.

Experience has been good overall. Service has been prompt and good when needed. Love the fact that the product is not stagnant but is improving all of the time.

Pros

It is user friendly. It is flexible in that you can add fields. The reports are easy to run and report lots of information.

Cons

can't use many fields as merge fields in emails. Need to have more access to created fields. Could use better ways to do mass changes.

The box size when you add a file to give your clients access to that document, and it pops up for each item. Needs to be smaller.

Cons

When clients set up their login info. Sometimes it seemed the reset password didn’t work as expected and we had to contact support.

Pros

What I liked most about Canopy is how much time it saves managing client documents and deadlines. The task tracking and built-in client portal make collaboration easier and reduce back and forth emails. It's especially helpful during tax season when things get chaotic.

Cons

Some of the reporting features feel underdeveloped. I sometimes struggle to get the exact data I need without exporting it to Excel. Also, mobile access could be smoother it's functional, but not great on the go.

I have only been using it for about a month and I already want to upgrade to the service for time tracking and invoices!

Pros

There are a lot of great features for the price. Sharing and requesting files with clients is amazing! Requesting electronic signatures makes my small firm feel like we can provide a high dollar service!

Cons

Cost for step by step implementation. However I can Google anything I need help with and it takes me to Canopy’s FAQ for quick answers.

Pros

I like how easy it is to work in. Also the training for a beginner is very easy. Most people don't like change.

Cons

Its a little slow sometimes but I am not sure if its our service. I have made a request to support about this already.
