For example, a CAPA raised from an Internal Audit uses two different modules in the system, but the full traceability of the event remains linked. Pros MasterControl is a powerful system capable of total quality management if configured correctly. Each of the modules communicate with one another, making everything in the system fully traceable. MasterControl as a company is always innovating and looking for ways to streamline and improve the system. Cons We are on a cloud quarterly upgrade schedule. It would be nice if Cloud customers could opt for yearly upgrade to avoid the pains that come with upgrading a large system every three months. It is not as robust as I would like but it is relatively easy to work with. The customer service is above average. Pros The strength of MasterControl is that it is easy to configure. For documents and training someone new to MasterControl can take the free online training and be at a module admin level in 2-3 months. For the most part changes do not need to be validated because the configurations are so limited that the OQ/PQ can justify functions. Cons The weakness in MasterControl is that the configurations are so limited. There are often times when you expect the system to be able to do something only to find out that it is not fully capable of what you expected. And example would be setting up prerequisite courses. This would be a great feature for creating an entire curriculum. But a course can only have 1 prerequisite, when you might have expected to be able to assign multiple prerequisites. Since this feature/configuration is so simple the admins end up having to play a greater role in assigning training, because the system can't be configured in a complex fashion. While about 80% of the configuration make sense, the other 20% does not. Some features and configurations are just not intuitive. Review Source PF Phyllis F. Pros It is much easier to manage the documentation. Paper records easily get lost. Cons The least appealing part is the cost. The product is quite expensive but we believe it is worth it. MasterControl has made preparing for client audits much easier as our training data and documents are easily retrievable. It has certainly helped us be more efficient and compliant. Pros MasterControl quality excellence is easy to configure and maintain and does not require advanced IT knowledge. We especially like the OOS/OOT and document control/training capabilities. We added the Process module over 15 years ago, and created many custom processes for quality management systems. MasterControl assisted us with the development of the 1st system, and provided continued support throughout the years as we added more and more. We added the field based solutions to ensure industry best practices and to streamline validation process. When we experienced compliance issues with our previous learning management system, we knew the answer was to add the MasterControl Training system. Pros MasterControl from Day 1 has let us know that we were part of the team! We have always been supported and knew we could depend on them on this journey for continuous improvement and greater compliance. Cons As a long-time user, we have had open honest conversations over the years MasterControl continues to improve their products, and I know they listen to their clients. Pros Once learned, the interface is quite intuitive and understandable, even internationally. As with all software, it is never perfect in all ways, but MasterControl is laser focused on constant product improvement and innogeering excellence. Cons Sometimes new user acceptance is difficult, depending on their level of frequent use. But the more they ate exposed to it, the faster they learn and the flatter the learning curve. Within Mx- the ability to stop users manufacturing if they’re not signed off on the training Cons Some of the user interface is hard to understand and not user friendly. Once you’re experienced using the software it comes more naturally, but as a new starter it can take time to get your head around some elements! Consistency of gui interface - particularly symbols would really help. I feel confident that we are exceeding our document and quality management expectations in the food industry. Pros The software as an end-user especially the basic viewer is so easy to use and implement. MasterControl is the Lamborghini of Quality Managements Systems. I've used several of them and this is the only one that has everything you need to implement a fully digital software and meet all of CFR 11 requirements. The pros much outweigh the cons. We are looking forward to MasterControl expanding features even more and learning how to better use our existing ones. Pros Document control has been the most impactful. We are not losing documents, manually tracking them down, and can now approve from anywhere. Our compliance has dramatically improved and also our efficiency. Cons There are still some gaps in features to make a quality system entirely paperless. We are not able to transition logs over because they don't entirely fit anywhere. FBS forms do not have the functionality we are looking for. We use Mx a lot as fillible forms for things such as donor screening and QC testing where more calculations and documentation are required.Configuration can be difficult depending on who the consultant is. You get a broad range and a different experience with each different person, some more pleasant experiences than others. Prior to implementation there was a massive backlog of ECNs, now it rare to see an ECN take more than a day or two. I'm no longer going from desk to desk searching for documents. Pros Master Control automates a lot of our processes that were manual and paper based. Routing ECN/DCN have been a breeze within the software compared to how we manually did it in the past. The automation has allowed our company to process more changes at a faster rate which has made our customers very happy. Cons The only set back is not being able to fully customize everything to my liking. It's rather small and has not caused any significant issues, it's more of a personal preference. The forms are not flexible enough to adopt to our process. Needs a lot of procedural controls instead of being able to provide the user with system support.
