You can audit and report about anything within the system is you are consistent with your naming convention. The Tech Support service is great they are always available and willing to help you. Cons Our version is not to old. The biggest user complaint is related to perceiving the system "as not user friendly". It is disappointing to have these bugs that there is not much to do but work it around. So you do not have a clear explanation of it and much nor less to do into preventing these issues. Pros Easy to configure and has the ability to customize a lot of features to your companies needs. Time for new users to feel comfortable in the system is pretty minimal considering how complex the system is as a whole. Cons Reporting is not good within the software but they are working on that, however it is easily retrievable from the database. Be sure to consider your set up carefully because it is difficult to change things already committed to the database. I inherited my system and would love to redo many things. Pros What I like most about this software is that it provides all users with documents they need but with the ability for the software to be configured to prevent certain users from modifying these documents. In a paper system, this had to be managed very closely by QA and users would have to request to see certain project documents. Now they can see them when they want with no need to wait for QA to provide a copy. Cons My least like feature is the out of office notification. It does not always work as easily as it should. However, there are work arounds that can be done to push documents through a route. Pros The home page looks super organized, color coded, and well designed. In the tasks folder, the task names and due dates are clearly indicated. You can click on each link to follow through a series of steps and sign off on it. Cons It is impossible to search any documents by key word, which is a major flaw. It is very difficult to find a needed document and add it to your task list. Even though the dashboard looks good, most of it is not intuitive. Review Source MS Melissa S. The software has been a great help with remaining compliant and addressing ISO and FDA audits. The Process Module allows us to create form workflows to address our business requirements. Pros Ease of use, user configurable, connection between their modules and the ability to create form workflows. Once you get the hang of it, it's quite easy to use. Cons As I mentioned, there is a slight learning curve to using MasterControl for your specific needs. However; once you familiarize yourself with the workflow and the specific buttons/fields to fill out, it becomes quite seamless. Review Source JA Jim A. It was relatively easy to set up. We immediately saw reduction in documentation errors, because operators were no longer documenting on paper. We also are now able to track several different features that we were not able to on paper. Mx comes out with important updates and additional features every quarter. Cons There still are some limitations that ideally would be updated in the future. However, I will say that since we began using Mx 2 years ago, several new features and updates have come on. Reason for choosing MasterControl Manufacturing Excellence MasterControl seemed to be better established for long term success. I feel safe knowing our quality documents are in a secure, validated system that I can access almost anywhere, and that they sit in a system the FDA themselves use! As a pharma/device company, the FDA's seal of approval on an electronic QMS system means a lot to us! I'm glad our company chose the gold standard eQMS to implement. Pros It is secure - very validated and I feel safe using a system the FDA themselves use. Cons Both Java and Adobe must be up to date at all times and you can't use Chrome, and even then, we still have PDF publishing and opening errors. Review Source AM Antal M. Cons As a longtime customer, I would like a little let us say freedom within the system to allow me to do a little in-depth customization and access to a different level of technical support, I'm not a noob here. This software is very powerful when it comes to data processing and document control. The latest version, in fact, is quite user friendly. MasterControl also offers integrated database features that can be used for PM and Validation tracking. Cons MasterControl is so powerful that at first it's very confusing to use. February 15, 2016 5.0 Because it is solving a complex set of problems, MasterControl software is naturally complex. Once the initial learning curve is past (which is helped by the training and installation folks from MasterControl), the design of the software is understandable. Initial installation of the software allows for mass uploads of existing documents and data. When there are issues, caused by the software or by the customer, the support is second to none. Knowledgeable technicians are always available to help out, and with the help of WebEx and a telephone, it is like they are standing next to you. Support will generally solve a problem on the spot, and if that is not possible they will continue to follow up until a satisfactory solution is found. Documentation is good, with tools like checklists you can used when implementing a new module. A negative is the reporting tool. While I understand it is written so that a general non-programmer type can use it, more advanced options are not available. We have solved this issue by using Crystal Reports for the more complex issues. MasterControl does a good job of keeping track of what the current best practices are and integrating them into their software. If there are changes to the forms desired, they can be made by an experienced programmer, or can be contracted through MasterControl. The new forms design tool can make a non-programmer look like a professional for simple paper forms the user desires to turn electronic with routing, e-signatures and tracking completely available. The MasterControl support team was great for helping with navigating best practices and functions. Other divisions within our company are coming to us for advice on digitalizing their processes, and feedback after we show them a demo of our dev system has been very positive as well. Pros Fantastic tool for final qc processes, and extremely easy to setup. Looking forward to the additional functionalities with insights, particularly with SPC trending. I would hope this can all be automated without having to set up individual dashboards/reports for all values to be monitored. Cons Integration with SAP has been very difficult. Most of the difficulty has been on our side, but the time difference with being in Germany and only having integration support in Salt Lake City is not ideal. We only have a few hours of potential overlap, making ad hoc meetings nearly impossible and leading to unnecessary delays.
