“What I like least about LEAP Legal Software is that it is mainly desktop-based and does not properly save emails from the new web-based Outlook. Since many firms now use Outlook on the web, this creates extra manual work to save important emails into matters. ### "LEAP is Fantastic!"

Overall, my experience with LEAP has been phenomenal. I think their Client Specialists (especially \[sensitive content hidden\], who is assigned to us) are incredibly knowledgeable and great at explaining various features and how we can apply them to our firm. This application is extremely powerful and can do a ton of things. It is extremely customizable which is fantastic for firms of all sizes, practice areas, and workflows. I cannot recommend enough giving this software a try.

Pros

Their Customer Support is truly incredible. They are always there for you when you need it. Any questions or issues I had, they were ready to work with me to find a solution. Their client managers are very knowledgeable and will collaborate with you to find specific solutions to make your day to day work more efficient by showing you features related to how you already use the software. The software is extremely comprehensive and laid out well. There are tons of bells and whistles for firms of all sizes and needs. I truly love the document automation. It's extremely helpful to have most of the information pulled from contact cards and other fields within a matter. I also love that I can edit letters and documents to create my own automated letters. It saves a ton of time.

Cons

You do need to be pretty proficient at understanding Word processing and formatting a document. I would say you need to be slightly above proficient to create your own templates, whether letters, forms, or invoices. There are some aspects of template creating that I cannot do because I don't know how to write javascript. It's a whole section of the application that I can't even tap into.

### "LEAP is a great tool"

Overall, I like the system and I'm glad that my firm is using it. Having come from other firms using different software, this is my favourite.

Pros

I appreciate having everything organized in one system. I like the precedents tool. I enjoy the built in AI assistant. It is a fairly user-friendly system.

Cons

Someone created a Financial Statement on their own account, under the file name and I was unable to access it from my own account.

### "Powerfull Tools, needs a better user interface."

Overall, I miss the old divorcemate compared to LEAP. While LEAP is very powerful software, it takes a lot of work to be able to use it to its full potential because so many things seem hidden or hard to find, and the tutorials aren't very helpful.

Pros

LEAP has a lot of advantages, namely that it combines document and matter management, time keeping, and billing into one tool. There are a lot of really helpful features, particularly the ability to design and personalize templates that function a lot like mail merge in office. I also really enjoy the divorcemate cloud integration.

Cons

When we started with LEAP, it often felt like we were beta testing software that was already supposed to be finished. The software is really buggy. It doesn't integrate well with Microsoft Office and the integrations often cause random errors or crashing with microsoft word. I've had to completely uninstall and reinstall the app several times when it seems to get 'stuck' or won't update properly for random reasons - for example, new matters won't show up when I login and only appear when searching archived matters as well. I don't like that I can't open multiple windows in the matter; it makes it cumbersome to move documents between various folders. It also struggles if you have a weaker internet connection. I don't find the software particularly intuitive - many of the tools are not where you would expect them to be.

### "I love LEAP "

My overall experience has been amazing, and I have been a client for over 8 years. They have always supported me as a client and assisted greatly in all matters.

Pros

As a conveyancer it's amazing with the forms and precedents, I also love how it populates information. I always feel like my documents are secure.

Cons

Whilst I love LEAP, I would like more precedents, as they save me so much time and give the firm so much value for money.

### "Working Smarter With LEAP"

While it was a bit a rough start when Divorcemate was not completely integrated, the integration of same that has occurred since has made this a great experience.

Pros

It is great for time management and billing. Simply being able to save emails directly to a file and bill for same is a gamechanger. We love the accessibility and cloud access. The value for money is definitely present. And the features are fantastic. It has dramatically improved capturing our time and billing.

Cons

Access to customer support is more efficient within the App than within the actual program. It would be great if there was a simply one button click to get to support in the program.

I think it is well worth the cost, given all of its features along with the abilty to have cloud access. It is a fully integrated piece of software, and more importantly, the team at LEAP is excellent to work with and are always looking for ways to improve and enhance the software.

Pros

We have used several other legal practice management softwares, but none of them were fully integrated. Especially trust accounting. LEAP is by far the best fullly integrated practice management software I have ever used, and the trust accounting and reporting keeps us LSO compliant.

Cons

It takes quite a bit of time to load and can be a bit glitchy as times. This is expected as it is so robust, but that would be my only complaint.

Overall, LEAP is a really good and secure resource that has good functionality and helps to keep files professionally organized.

Pros

LEAP is a very powerful tool. When used properly and in an organized manner, it is a great client management resource.

Cons

LEAP still has bugs that need to be worked out. It doesn't always load properly, it struggles to open client files at times, and the integration between some of the resources (like Adobe, word, etc.) don't always work properly.

### "Office Hours is great idea"

The office hours session with hands on live demonstration of the product in action was really beneficial.

Cons

the integration of two extremely powerful tools is a challenging work in progress. These sessions show me that I am not doing anything wrong, but that things are still being developed.

### "LEAP keeps improving and surpassing expectations"

I would recommend LEAP to other law offices. It takes time to learn a new system, but they are always adding features to make the operations easier for a small law firm. It's great that they offer features within LEAP instead of paying a monthly subscription fee with other vendors in addition to LEAP.

Pros

LEAP customer service is excellent. \[sensitive content hidden\] is awesome and always available to help with questions. LEAP is continually adding features, such as client intake and AI to help the small law firm operate efficiently. It is great that they also have a work flow feature that I will adopt.

Cons

LEAP has changed a lot since the 3 years I have been a customer. The customer service and quality of the product are excellent and I am glad to be a LEAP user.

I have had overall good experience with LEAP, the accounting has been good, but the integration is a bit problematic at times for word, excel, and Adobe

Pros

Easy to use, the invoicing is easy, the logging into the files is good, keeping records is good, and works well most of the time.

Cons

Slowness and crashing of the app, the app sometimes does not fit the screen, the adobe integration can be better, the word documents crash at times.

Pros

LEAP offers a completely integrated system for client management. As a law firm owner, it is amazing to see my time automatically captured, showing me exactly where my value is for any file. Every email is linked to a matter, providing me the security and confidence that my team is capturing all points of client data. Additionally, LEAPs integration with Closer is proving to be a game change with my real estate practice! Document Management and client data entry for real estate law has become so convenient that I cannot imagine using any other system!

Cons

My biggest challenge is adapting to new accounting tools. My one piece of advice for those switching to LEAP would be to be commit to transferring all accounting data over from your existing software. I didn't take LEAPs advice and wish I had, and I am lucky that their customer service has worked with me to overcome this challenge and its all smooth sailing now!

Clio was focused on trying to create "pipelines" for clients without actually making the practice of law easier. The integrations that LEAP has across Adobe, Word, and Outlook means I am never losing data and all of my time is tracked.

### "Solid program and fantastic customer service! "

Overall, we are quite happy with LEAP. I think the program is much more solid than our prior program. It is stressful making a change and it takes time to be comfortable with a billing program but I am happy our firm chose LEAP. The customer service is amazing. If you end up with \[sensitive content hidden\] as your rep, you are in luck!

Pros

Love how easy it is to locate a file number for both active and closed cases. Emailing invoices is a great feature we didn't previously have. Customer support via having a direct client success manager to reach out to is critical. We have had a few over the past few years but they are all good. Current rep is \[sensitive content hidden\] and he is a keeper! Pro and con is there are about 3-5 ways you can do the same thing (so you need to pick the way the suits you best). That is also a con because it can be difficult to remember what you did previously unless it is something you do often. Nice that LEAP integrates an online payment system (Fee Wise) with QR codes on invoices. Love how easy it is to correct invoices. I probably should have moved this up on the list! VERY efficient. This used to take me a full day and now it is a few hours. Data migration from PCLaw to LEAP was relatively seemless. LEAP invests the time necessary to train new users. I was happy with the training and having a rep to reach out to was so helpful and gave me peace of mind. Our rep actually walked me through bills for the first few months.

Cons

The conflict search feature is flawed. It only pulls actual opened clients so unless a client has retained you and you open a file OR create a card for someone, they will not appear in your conflict search. Odd because this is one of few programs designed specifically for law firms. LEAP works in batches so each attorney has its own batch. For us, because we have several attys, it takes a substantial amount of time to generate and after a few years, I still have a cheat sheet / checklist I go through when completing bills. Had to learn to use not only LEAP but also purchase and learn QBO (which is not user friendly at all). Time consuming with monthly reimbursement checks for attorneys who say purchase a supply and have mileage related to a client - that requires two different checks. LEAP check for matter related reimbursement and QBO check for "other" reimbursement. Late fee / overdue invoices are terrible. LEAP generates one late fee invoice for each overdue invoice so our clients that are making small payments over the course of years may have 12 invoices generated in one month. It is absurd / time consuming. There is also no feature you can select to exclude an invoice (we have about 100 court appointments that we have to bill at the end of the case - federal criminal cases). To exclude these from billing, I have to manaully uncheck the invoices.

I am really happy with it and even though there are some challenges. I still have not found another program that does all of the things LEAP does for the value and the customer service.

Pros

It is a comprehensive case management system that does so much and it is all part of the program. I don't have to add on extras. I have real people providing training for me instead of being directed to watch You Tube videos for onboarding. I can speak with my contact anytime and they can go over my questions. I really like LawY and the Matter AI features too that are included.

Cons

No CRM, no way to have client portals like other programs, no dashboard feature, not cloud based so I cannot log into it from different computers.

### "Still Love Leap BUT"

Many firms have switched to other products. I'm still loyal to Leap, but we're losing touch with the product.

Pros

I've been with Leap for 10 years. I like the 1-screen to manage the entire file, including emails, and finances.

Cons

I'm losing touch with the product. So many feautures that we don't know how to use. About half of the new button we don't have use for. We can't text clients, unlike other products. Glitches are increasingly persistent. Forms are falling out of automation as technology is evolving.

We switched from PCLaw to LEAP a few years ago and we cannot be happier. LEAP has made a MASSIVE difference in our business. We capture much more time and our billings have increased dramatically. The cloud-based software makes running a paperless practice so easy. I can be anywhere with an internet connection and I have my whole practice at my fingertips.

Pros

LEAP is extraordinarily user friendly. The document management tools are tremendously helpful. The customer support is outstanding. LEAP has definitely taken our law practice to the next level.

Cons

Sometimes the LEAP updates cause glitches with microsoft office suite apps. I also wish there were a single report which pulls all of the trust account information required by the Law Society of Alberta's annual self-report. The "LSA Export" tool is amazing. But that's only one part of the annual report. It would be great to have the other information easily accessible in a single report, rather than having to sift through three separate reports for each trust account.

### "The Administrative Point of View"

Good, on the basis that I had been moved from a well functioning old system. I have had plenty of support along the way and am now settled and very happy to come in every day and do the work I am paid to do with LEAP by my side.

Pros

There is always help when needed and every one is friendly and patient. Any technical problems or training is easy to access, when ever needed. My recent training being a prime example and led by the most accommodating, friendly, patient and engaging \[sensitive content hidden\]. The system can hold much more information than ever needed, which is always a plus and covers all angles of work in the legal industry. It is fairly easy to learn and easy on the eye when multitasking with the many clients. Easy to amend, delete or add files or documents and has a good relationship with outlook.

Cons

I work on the administration side, so it can be a little more of a runaround when trying to do simple tasks within this area of work. It can be a little tricky doing simple maneuvers, such as merging or maneuvering clients, documents or files. I usually have to work directly through the Client Card on LEAP unlike the Fee Earners working through Matters. I have found that for storing physical Deeds and Documentation with a LEAP reference, is not so easy to follow and also clear labels are not produced automatically. The LEAP Reference is not as efficient for the many paper documents needed to be stored long and short term. There could be another way is any other way that I have not yet discovered. I am fully aware that there is so much more to LEAP than I know already or will ever need to use. Every day's a school day, so much more to grasp even after 3 years. I am open to offers/ideas of any other reference storing methods on LEAP.

### "Taking the Leap"

It has transformed us as a business, particularly from a management perspective, given the window that it provides.

Pros

Very user friendly and synchs well with Microsoft. it offers a huge amount of management tools, which are tremendously useful indeed. the back up support are quick and effective.

Cons

No issues really, save that we do tend to have to keep on top of up spec'ing our IT to ensure Leap runs effectively, although this is no bad thing really insofar as our stock tends to get refreshed and upgraded regularly.

### "Amazing LEAP!"

We would be lost without LEAP - it really does make my daily life so much easier and helps my files stay so much more organised and allows me to do my job so much better.

Pros

LEAP has been life changing - having used case management systems in the past, I can honestly say that LEAP is the best one I have ever used. They are constantly striving to make improvements in order to make life easier for the user. They are on hand to help if you need them. My files are in order with all client details to hand in an instance. I love that Infotrack, Indemnity Policies and Perfect Portal are all able to be integrated into our system so they can a one stop shop for all things needed to work on my files. It is easy to keep track of which staff members have worked on which files so if we need to check anything we can see who has done what and contact accordingly. The Matter AI tools are invaluable for helping matters along with drawing information and and when requested and assisting in the drafting of documents/letters/emails as well. Well done LEAP!

Cons

That I didn't find them sooner! Having worked for other firms with different case management systems, I just wish all the firms I previously worked for had LEAP.

### "Great and easy to use software"

Pros

I think the phrase "work smart, not hard" was likely invented by LEAP. The interface provides many easy to use functions. Something as simple as having cards along the side of the matter I can easily send a letter or email to the intended recipient. Working in a Private Client team, LEAP also makes it easier to fill out IHT 400 forms by creating the forms through its software. I have, more recently, been making use of the integrated AI, this can be to ask simple questions where I need a quick answer, or if it's something more complicated making sure the AI answer is correct by referring the question to a qualified professional. The AI is also very useful for creating specific documents where we do not have precedents. I have also been using the time recording feature, and while I have dreaded time recording for a long time, LEAP makes the process so simple. I also use WillSuite on a daily business and it's the best Will writing software I've used.

Cons

My one complaint is that I cannot drag any attachments from emails directly through to my LEAP matter, I have to save the document separately onto file explorer or save it directly onto the matter and it's roughly 30 seconds longer.

### "Great Product"

I have found LEAP to be highly functional, and makes my job much easier. I have been able to create a number of forms that allow me to draft documents in seconds. It is easy to stay organized, and on top of tasks.

Pros

I love the flexibility that LEAP offers. It is very easy to customize each matter depending on what your needs are for that particular matter. It also makes the job of collaborating with my coworkers easier because all they have to do is look in the file, and see what I'm working on - no need to send documents to each other through email. The customer service on the whole is very good. Kendra and her team regularly go above and beyond to help us. They entertain any new ideas we have, have assisted us with creating automated forms, and value feedback. I have never experienced that in a software company before, and it means everything!

Cons

I wish it were more stable. It frequently has errors, lags, will not load, etc. Sometimes when I attach a document through Law Connect (which I do every day), I have to cancel and reattach it several times because it gets hung up. All of our folders are in "correspondence", so if we send an email and have a folder open, the email will land in that folder, and not the actual correspondence folder. That is extremely annoying because I have to hunt them down throughout my matter. I also wish the search was more robust from the home screen, to include more search options, such as document names or text.

### "Leap Review "

Overall, our experience with LEAP can only be described as efficient, productive, and user-friendly. From our perspective it has significantly improved workflow in our office and makes handling multiple matters more manageable.

Pros

Since working with Leap the first thing we noticed is that whenever we have a problem customer service are on it, they are so quick in dealing with the issue. Our account manager is amazing and has never disappointed, we speak very highly of her. We like how there are so many fields to make matters organised within a file and that leap has precedent documents that we can use. The fact that it is cloud based and can be accessed from anywhere is a huge plus for our firm when working away from the office. We can implement, coordinate and monitor everything and the AI integration is very helpful. Sending emails, documents or correspondence is very easy as that can be done within the file you are accessing without needing to look anywhere else. We have been using leap for over 16 years and never had any security issues or breaches and have never had to negotiate pricing as we have always been happy with the value for money.

Cons

Difficult to find the chat to log in a service call but once we do Leap never disappoint in their service. Don't like in accounting if we make an error after finalisation even if in notes, I am unable to edit and I will have to reverse entire transaction.

### "LEAP Feedback"

LEAP is a great platform across a variety of areas of law. The staff are intelligent and have good insight into what needs to be done across the platform to keep across of changing technology. I appreciate the extra mile that the staff go.

Pros

Always evolving with new advances and staying abreast the industry changes in all areas of law. Gets involved as an Educator in the legal space. The outlook integration is perfect and helps for billing purposes by capturing time and fees in automated entries while keeping emails securely stored outside of Microsoft also. Client management tools are great and able to assist quickly to determine if any conflict of interest may appear when discussing new matters with new clients.

Cons

Sometimes the new software is not a good fit for busy practitioners, and it strays away from its core purposes trying to be everything to everyone. A recent example of this was the VIC SOA changes where it appeared that it was rolled out without actual feedback from those that work in it as it made significant more work for Practitioners without a greater outcome.

### "LEAP IS IMPROVING - WELL DONE!"

Initially I expected more of LEAP, I was disappointed but appreciated what it could do. I tried twice to not renew. Now I am glad I did not renew because a lot of effort seems to be putting into improving LEAP products, thank you! I am concerned about the price for small firms like mine. I am also concerned about the payment of 30% for the use of the AI Assistant. Also, only relatively smart and tech savvy people will respond to it. Having teaching experience, there will be people that will love it and those who will not respond to it. some people need human support. But it will be great for some firms and clients.

Pros

I am loving LEAP Law Y. I use it constantly. I do my own verification where case law is referred to and download the cases that seem relevant. I continue asking additional relevant questions until I have asked all the questions that I think are relevant, and download all the cases that seem relevant, then I can leisurely go through the information and tailor it to different matters. I love research!

Cons

Well, sometimes LEAP does not get along with Outlook and things go wrong when there are Microsoft Updates. LEAP is constantly changing, which is both good and bad. I used to struggle with changes and get very frustrated. I suggested that LEAP let users know when there is an update and run a zoom to teach people new features etc... I try to watch as many zooms as I can, but this work leaves us all so time poor and over worked. so effectively LEAP listened and reduced what I least like about LEAP. Currently I am struggling with Balance Sheet Plus. I really need some help with that. Zoom meetings when attendees are asked to follow along move too quickly. I was a teacher for 28 years. Every instruction must be given twice. My advice is if you want participation, target less and give people a chance to keep up otherwise we have all wasted our time. I shared this with \[sensitive content hidden\] , he took it well, but will anything change??? I have friends who left and I think some people who have left might come back if they know what improvements have been made. the cost is also a factor. Can you bring the price down for small firms???

### "Leap Review"

I have been using Leap for the past 20 years and really love it and I am really excited about future directions.

Pros

I find it invaluable in managing the client information and the overall file for each matter. I find that the Help Team are pretty responsive when we do have occasional issues.

Cons

Some data entry can be a little clunky but that is vastly improving. The reports for firm management are not always useful and can be hard to navigate.

### "A must have for every legal practice"

I started using LEAP in 2017, having never worked in a law firm before. LEAP was very intuitive from the start, and I can't imagine working in a law firm without it.

Pros

As a legal assistant, LEAP is a super platform. I love how easy it is to organise each matter, allowing users to schedule tasks, enter payments and fees, create and email invoices, run reports, order certificates, create documents and letters and ask for help if necessary. The development team is always improving the product based on customer feedback which saves us time.

Cons

I wish client cards would have additional "future address" options as clients may move more than once over the many years we act for them. I also think client cards should have a "new name" option, as people change their names for many reasons over the course of their lives.
