“The Forms and Templates function makes it very easy to create automated documents, especially with the clause library feature, I am able to automate documents but still have the ability to tailor each document to the specifics of the case - basically automated without being reduced to a boilerplate document.“

“What I like least about LEAP Legal Software is that it is mainly desktop-based and does not properly save emails from the new web-based Outlook. Since many firms now use Outlook on the web, this creates extra manual work to save important emails into matters. Because of this limitation, our team sometimes has to manually copy or upload emails, which slows down workflow and adds unnecessary steps.“

### "Great software product for a family law attorney,"

May 8, 2026

5.0

I am in retirement. I started using Case Management software \[Abacus\] back in the late 80's. In the late 90's I was the Florida family guru concerning software products. in 2000, I got out of the active practice of law because of a medical disability. In 2016, I got back into practice to do collaborative law. When I got back into solo practice in 2016, I tried Abacus. After a year, I found that Abacus was too cumbersome and too expensive. I tried Smokeball which was less expensive and a bit more agile. Then I tried Leap and I found that it more user friendly and robust and less expensive and I used it for the last 4 years of my practice.

Pros

User friendly and robust. I used the new email and forms and template that made me much more productive. Leap card system was a great system. I have also used the cross reference between the name cards and the matters card was a great feature. The customer support was excellent and despite my years away from technology, the customer support people were extremely helpful and were very patient with me.

Cons

Because I lost my trusty paralegal for the last few years, my institutional knowledge base was disrupted. I did not have a typical hourly basis and therefore when I had to do some bills, it was a relearning process. With the help of customer support, I was able to get the few bills out.

### "Billing Simplified "

March 26, 2026

5.0

I like the integration with quickbooks, I like the billing process, I appreciate the commitment to tracking accurate data (reversals remain in the account, no question on what has happened in a specific file)

Pros

Simplified billing process - I can pick and choose what clients to invoice off a list that matches up with reports section in leap - You can easily assign the invoice to a coworker for approval, then finalize. You then can send the invoice directly to the client within leap, providing a payment link that is automatically receipted. It's simple and it's convenient.

Cons

The notification page doesn't have an ongoing "audit log." Would like this feature to be added along with a few other features my coworkers and I would find useful.

### "Please update user friendly requests listed above"

March 13, 2026

3.0

Overall the experience is fairly smooth, I think a feature to collaborate simultaneously on documents would be amazing.

Pros

I like that it is integrated with all my other platforms such as outlook, especially when it comes to saving documents sent in an email.

Cons

1\. I dislike that you cannot work on documents at the same time as your colleagues (as you can in sharepoint). 2. I dislike that the only PDF reader available is Adobe - I find Adobe extremely slow and difficult to work with 3. I dislike that you cannot drag and drop documents into my emails, I either have to make it send in an email or export the document and then drag and drop from my downloads into my email 4. I dislike that when I download something from my browser I cannot drag an drop it from there into leap, I have to open up my files and take it from there. 5. I dislike that in the "preview" option, some documents will show the whole document (I've seen up to 20 pages) but sometimes it will only show me 5 pages. It is super inconsistent and frustrating and I see no reason why we cannot just see the whole document. It should also be set up differently so that I can "flip" through documents quickly like you can in sharepoint - ie side to side arrows

### "Business Manager "

February 24, 2026

5.0

We have been using LEAP Legal Software since 2017 and currently hold more than 30 licenses across our firm. Overall, our experience has been positive, particularly in terms of matter management, document automation, billing, and trust accounting all being integrated into one system. Having everything in a single platform has helped maintain consistency, improve efficiency, and streamline our daily operations. The precedent library and document automation tools have been especially valuable, saving significant drafting time and ensuring standardisation across the firm. The reporting features and integrated accounting functions also support better financial oversight. While there are areas that could be enhanced—particularly around web-based integrations such as email compatibility with the new Outlook—the system remains reliable and well-suited to structured legal practice environments. After several years of continuous use and scaling to over 30 users, LEAP has proven to be a stable and comprehensive solution that supports both operational growth and day-to-day legal practice needs.

Pros

What I appreciate most about LEAP Legal Software is its comprehensive, all-in-one platform that streamlines practice management from start to finish. The integration of matter management, document automation, time recording, billing, and trust accounting within a single system significantly reduces administrative burden and improves overall efficiency. The document automation and precedent library are particularly valuable, enabling consistent, accurate drafting while saving considerable time. The cloud-based functionality also provides flexibility and secure access across devices, which supports modern, mobile legal practice. In addition, the onboarding process and ongoing support have been professional and responsive, making implementation smooth for our team. Overall, LEAP has enhanced productivity, improved organization, and allowed us to focus more on delivering quality service to clients.

Cons

What I like least about LEAP Legal Software is that it is mainly desktop-based and does not properly save emails from the new web-based Outlook. Since many firms now use Outlook on the web, this creates extra manual work to save important emails into matters. Because of this limitation, our team sometimes has to manually copy or upload emails, which slows down workflow and adds unnecessary steps. Improved integration with the new Outlook web version would make the system much more efficient and better suited to modern, cloud-based practice.

### "Harnessing the power of LEAP is the key to value "

March 30, 2026

4.0

I value the professional relationships we have with the LEAP team. We value the platform as being the central hub for all matters and production in the business. The options for aligned services help drive efficiencies for our team. Harnessing the power of what LEAP can do is critical for us to maximise the value LEAP can bring to the business to offset the increasing price of the platform.

Pros

LEAP is a fully integrated platform that assists us in managing our day to day operations. It plays a critical role in everything from compliance to billing and staff productivity while underpinning our client service deliverables. Centralising our data in a single source of truth and integrating with so many leading programs to manage client service and internal reporting needs is critical to the success of the system. Being able to streamline our tech stack provides significant benefit for the firm. The responsiveness of the help desk function by email.

Cons

The limitations of some of the reporting features and lack of ability to customise reports or have PowerBI reports created is frustrating. The LEAP community and having to get 'upvotes' in order for a logical feature or issue to be resolved is also not ideal. The cost of LEAP has grown sharply over the last 5 years. The cost of some of the integrated 'partner' software in the LEAP marketplace, while obviously creating great synergy and the 'one stop shop' view, uses third party integrations which are costly with little other option (for example DocuSign which is now at $7-ish per envelope when there are other options on the market for less than half of that per document). Definitely a premium product which you really have to have on turbo to maximise the value of the program rather than focusing on the cost - if that is possible. Not being able to call a help desk when there is an urgent or difficult to explain tech issue - only accessible by email - is a drawback.

### "The Administrative Point of View"

March 27, 2026

4.0

Good, on the basis that I had been moved from a well functioning old system. I have had plenty of support along the way and am now settled and very happy to come in every day and do the work I am paid to do with LEAP by my side.

Pros

There is always help when needed and every one is friendly and patient. Any technical problems or training is easy to access, when ever needed. My recent training being a prime example and led by the most accommodating, friendly, patient and engaging \[sensitive content hidden\]. The system can hold much more information than ever needed, which is always a plus and covers all angles of work in the legal industry. It is fairly easy to learn and easy on the eye when multitasking with the many clients. Easy to amend, delete or add files or documents and has a good relationship with outlook.

Cons

I work on the administration side, so it can be a little more of a runaround when trying to do simple tasks within this area of work. It can be a little tricky doing simple maneuvers, such as merging or maneuvering clients, documents or files. I usually have to work directly through the Client Card on LEAP unlike the Fee Earners working through Matters. I have found that for storing physical Deeds and Documentation with a LEAP reference, is not so easy to follow and also clear labels are not produced automatically. The LEAP Reference is not as efficient for the many paper documents needed to be stored long and short term. There could be another way is any other way that I have not yet discovered. I am fully aware that there is so much more to LEAP than I know already or will ever need to use. Every day's a school day, so much more to grasp even after 3 years. I am open to offers/ideas of any other reference storing methods on LEAP.

### "User-Friendly Software with Support to Match"

March 27, 2026

5.0

My overall experience with LEAP has been excellent. The software is intuitive and significantly reduces the learning curve for new users. I’ve found the accessibility of their support—both through the built-in help features and direct email contact—to be a major asset to my daily workflow.

Pros

I have found LEAP to be an exceptionally user-friendly platform. From day one, the ease of use stood out, making it simple to navigate through various tasks without a steep learning curve. One of my favorite features is the help option available on every single page; it makes finding answers to quick questions effortless because you never have to leave the screen you’re working on. Additionally, their customer support is excellent. Getting in touch with the team at Leap via email is seamless, and they are consistently helpful and responsive. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a smooth, well-supported experience

Cons

My only complaint is with the recent update, it takes more steps to get into the accounting function of the program.

I would highly recommend LEAP. The technology makes it easier to do my job every day. Their responsive client service, namely our representative \[sensitive content hidden\] helps us manage system changes and issues as they arise and very quickly so we can get back to doing our client work.

Pros

The highly integrated system helps us efficiently manage accounting, bookkeeping, client communications, administration and client documents.

Cons

System updates sometimes cause issues that require us to reorient our system. We also run a lot of our work through the software which can cause speed issues at times.

Since getting Leap in July 2016, overall it has been extremely beneficial and I enjoy working with Leap.

Pros

Makes capturing all time and disbursements etc easier and all case work is at the tip of your fingers for the whole firm no matter where you are. Beneficial to be able to work anywhere in the world too.

Cons

Delays logging on - speed of working quite often is too slow. Also sometimes after clearing cache Leap doesn't allow you to work because server not reachable which can cause delays and lack of ability to work.

We’ve had a very positive experience with LEAP. It’s intuitive, keeps our matters organized, and helps our team stay efficient and focused on clients instead of paperwork.

Pros

Our contact person at Leap, \[sensitive content hidden\], has gone above and beyond for us and it’s nice to have a human being to reach out to with questions and concerns.

### "Reliable and Easy to Use for Real Estate Work"

March 13, 2026

5.0

Overall, my experience with LEAP has been very positive. It’s been a reliable system for managing files and keeping everything organized throughout the transaction process. Once you get used to the workflow, it’s easy to navigate and helps keep things moving efficiently. It’s made everyday tasks simpler and helps our team stay on top of everything.

Pros

One of the best things about LEAP in regards to the real estate area of law, is how well it integrates with Closer. It makes the client intake process really smooth and helps everything flow right into the system without a lot of extra steps. It saves time when opening new files and keeps everything organized, which is especially helpful for real estate transactions where there are a lot of details to keep track of.

Cons

There’s a bit less flexibility when it comes to reversing things on the accounting side once they’ve been finalized. It hasn’t been a major issue, but it does mean you have to double check entries before completing them. On the plus side, it helps keep everything accurate and encourages good habits when managing transactions.

### "Very Happy with LEAP"

March 13, 2026

5.0

I have had a great experience with LEAP, and can't express enough how much I appreciate all of the help I receive from LEAP's staff with making improvements to help me get the most out of LEAP.

Pros

I appreciate the ease with which I can use LEAP to save me time, as well as keep my case file organized and keep tabs on the progress of my cases. The Forms and Templates function makes it very easy to create automated documents, especially with the clause library feature, I am able to automate documents but still have the ability to tailor each document to the specifics of the case - basically automated without being reduced to a boilerplate document. LawConnect works great to allow my clients and me to share confidential information, and alleviates the problem of file sizes that are too large for email attachments.

Cons

At least at first I experienced some difficulty with billing, though that has seemed to improve greatly - either through improvements with the software or my just becoming more acquainted with how it works. FeeWise makes accepting payments and posting those to the matter accounts easy, and the third party payment plans allow those clients with more modest means make payments on a retainer without requiring me to have to keep following up with those clients to keep them on track with their payments.

### "Solid program and fantastic customer service! "

March 18, 2026

5.0

Overall, we are quite happy with LEAP. I think the program is much more solid than our prior program. It is stressful making a change and it takes time to be comfortable with a billing program but I am happy our firm chose LEAP. The customer service is amazing. If you end up with \[sensitive content hidden\] as your rep, you are in luck!

Pros

Love how easy it is to locate a file number for both active and closed cases. Emailing invoices is a great feature we didn't previously have. Customer support via having a direct client success manager to reach out to is critical. We have had a few over the past few years but they are all good. Current rep is \[sensitive content hidden\] and he is a keeper! Pro and con is there are about 3-5 ways you can do the same thing (so you need to pick the way the suits you best). That is also a con because it can be difficult to remember what you did previously unless it is something you do often. Nice that LEAP integrates an online payment system (Fee Wise) with QR codes on invoices. Love how easy it is to correct invoices. I probably should have moved this up on the list! VERY efficient. This used to take me a full day and now it is a few hours. Data migration from PCLaw to LEAP was relatively seemless. LEAP invests the time necessary to train new users. I was happy with the training and having a rep to reach out to was so helpful and gave me peace of mind. Our rep actually walked me through bills for the first few months.

Cons

The conflict search feature is flawed. It only pulls actual opened clients so unless a client has retained you and you open a file OR create a card for someone, they will not appear in your conflict search. Odd because this is one of few programs designed specifically for law firms. LEAP works in batches so each attorney has its own batch. For us, because we have several attys, it takes a substantial amount of time to generate and after a few years, I still have a cheat sheet / checklist I go through when completing bills. Had to learn to use not only LEAP but also purchase and learn QBO (which is not user friendly at all). Time consuming with monthly reimbursement checks for attorneys who say purchase a supply and have mileage related to a client - that requires two different checks. LEAP check for matter related reimbursement and QBO check for "other" reimbursement. Late fee / overdue invoices are terrible. LEAP generates one late fee invoice for each overdue invoice so our clients that are making small payments over the course of years may have 12 invoices generated in one month. It is absurd / time consuming. There is also no feature you can select to exclude an invoice (we have about 100 court appointments that we have to bill at the end of the case - federal criminal cases). To exclude these from billing, I have to manaully uncheck the invoices.

### "Happy attorney who completed multiple demos with other programs and chose LEAP"

March 19, 2026

5.0

I am really happy with it and even though there are some challenges. I still have not found another program that does all of the things LEAP does for the value and the customer service.

Pros

It is a comprehensive case management system that does so much and it is all part of the program. I don't have to add on extras. I have real people providing training for me instead of being directed to watch You Tube videos for onboarding. I can speak with my contact anytime and they can go over my questions. I really like LawY and the Matter AI features too that are included.

Cons

No CRM, no way to have client portals like other programs, no dashboard feature, not cloud based so I cannot log into it from different computers.

Alternatives considered

Reason for choosing LEAP

LEAP was set up to the matters in my jurisdiction and included immigration forms since I work on some state law issues and immigration.

### "Still Love Leap BUT"

March 22, 2026

4.0

Many firms have switched to other products. I'm still loyal to Leap, but we're losing touch with the product.

Pros

I've been with Leap for 10 years. I like the 1-screen to manage the entire file, including emails, and finances.

Cons

I'm losing touch with the product. So many feautures that we don't know how to use. About half of the new button we don't have use for. We can't text clients, unlike other products. Glitches are increasingly persistent. Forms are falling out of automation as technology is evolving.

Alternatives considered

Reason for choosing LEAP

Ease of use, email integration, accounting which has been moved to a different tab. Not a good idea.

### "BC family law–specific breakdown of pros and cons of LEAP Legal Software"

March 24, 2026

4.0

LEAP is a strong option for BC family lawyers if you want an all-in-one system with solid DivorceMate integration and are prepared to invest time in setup and training. If you’re looking for something more intuitive or flexible out of the box, it may not be the best fit. Overall: powerful, but not plug-and-play.

Pros

LEAP’s biggest strength is its integration with DivorceMate. For family law in BC, that’s a major advantage. It streamlines support calculations, agreements, and court forms in a way that reduces jumping between systems. The all-in-one structure (matter management, billing, document automation) is also appealing, especially for small firms trying to keep everything centralized. Document automation and precedents can save a lot of time once everything is set up properly. Routine documents like separation agreements and correspondence become much faster to produce. Support is generally responsive, and onboarding resources are there if you’re willing to invest the time.

Cons

The learning curve is real. LEAP is not particularly intuitive at the start, and getting your workflows and templates running smoothly can take significant effort. Customization can feel limited or cumbersome unless you’re well-trained in the system. There are also occasional performance issues such as lag, glitches, or things not saving properly - which can be frustrating in a busy practice.

### "Would and have recommended LEAP to colleagues"

February 24, 2026

5.0

Would recommend and have recommended to colleagues. The software allows for working smarter allowing for greater daily productivity. I would not go back to our old Legal software system after using LEAP.

Pros

Leap is an easy to use Legal Software package. The system is easy to navigate and user friendly. The AI technology is impressive and improving all the time. Document management is easy and it is easy to share work both internally and externally making client management and staff management easy and clear in each file.

Cons

The only feature that could be improved is the easier integration of phone messages into the file. In order to bring the phone messages in they can be converted to a PDF which can be time consuming.

### "Leap is a great practice management software tool for sole legal practitioners."

March 6, 2026

5.0

I didn't know that there was a one-stop shop for law firms. I knew there were products I could purchase, but they weren't necessarily well integrated. What I like about Leap is the total package it offers, including matterAI and LawY, two tools that make me more efficient and reduce administrative load, and allow me to concentrate on the deadlines and more cerebral tasks that we all wish we had more time for. I have encouraged a number of colleagues to look at Leap as a practice solution.

Pros

Leap makes my work life easier and more simple. I enjoy the seamless integration between Leap and Microsoft. I also appreciate the intuitive billing (no time recording!) and the integration with Xero. Any time I have an issue or an error in Leap, the support team is laser focused on fixing it for me. The fact that they are so available and responsive gives me confidence. I am still discovering more features, and my ability to improve and refine my processes is supported by the content team, which works with subscribers to add value. I also like the integration with my iPhone and iPad - the app is great - it doesn't have the functionality of the full version, but there is enough that if I'm caught without my laptop, I can still be effective. The security of the software and the integrated document management make handling and distributing information foolproof.

Cons

I wish that when I started with Leap that I had more training. I felt like I was wading around in the dark a bit; I gradually increased my confidence over time, and I now feel that I have a level of confidence that makes Leap real value for money. I also like that my Client Success Manager is local. I struggle with online interactions, so having them in the area adds value for me.

### "Leap Review "

March 11, 2026

5.0

Overall, our experience with LEAP can only be described as efficient, productive, and user-friendly. From our perspective it has significantly improved workflow in our office and makes handling multiple matters more manageable.

Pros

Since working with Leap the first thing we noticed is that whenever we have a problem customer service are on it, they are so quick in dealing with the issue. Our account manager is amazing and has never disappointed, we speak very highly of her. We like how there are so many fields to make matters organised within a file and that leap has precedent documents that we can use. The fact that it is cloud based and can be accessed from anywhere is a huge plus for our firm when working away from the office. We can implement, coordinate and monitor everything and the AI integration is very helpful. Sending emails, documents or correspondence is very easy as that can be done within the file you are accessing without needing to look anywhere else. We have been using leap for over 16 years and never had any security issues or breaches and have never had to negotiate pricing as we have always been happy with the value for money.

Cons

Difficult to find the chat to log in a service call but once we do Leap never disappoint in their service. Don't like in accounting if we make an error after finalisation even if in notes, I am unable to edit and I will have to reverse entire transaction.

### "A Comprehensive Practice Management Solution for Modern Law Firms"

March 11, 2026

5.0

Overall, our experience with LEAP has been very positive. It is a comprehensive legal practice management platform that helps streamline file management, document creation, and billing. Having a centralised system for managing matters and client information has improved organisation and efficiency across the firm. Beyond the software itself, LEAP particularly the LEAP family law team demonstrates a genuine commitment to supporting firms and their staff. They regularly host CPD sessions, forums, and conferences that are included in the subscription, which adds significant value as firms receive more than just client management software.

Pros

LEAP provides an all-in-one practice management system that integrates matter management, document automation, time recording, and billing. The document generation and precedent library are particularly valuable, as they save significant time and help ensure consistency across files. The Family Lawyers in our team cannot live without Parenting Calendar, Balance sheet + and Ruffle (including in your LEAP subscription) which has changed the game in terms of efficiency in property settlement matters. The ability to store all correspondence, documents, and notes within a matter makes file management and team collaboration very efficient. It also integrates seamlessly with our phone system, allowing phone calls to be automatically recorded for billing and generating file notes directly within the relevant matter, which saves time and reduces administrative work.

Cons

There can be a learning curve for new users, and some features are not always as intuitive as they could be. At times, updates or new functionality require additional training to ensure the team is making full use of the available tools.

### "LEAP IS IMPROVING - WELL DONE!"

March 18, 2026

4.0

Initially I expected more of LEAP, I was disappointed but appreciated what it could do. I tried twice to not renew. Now I am glad I did not renew because a lot of effort seems to be putting into improving LEAP products, thank you! I am concerned about the price for small firms like mine. I am also concerned about the payment of 30% for the use of the AI Assistant. Also, only relatively smart and tech savvy people will respond to it. Having teaching experience, there will be people that will love it and those who will not respond to it. some people need human support. But it will be great for some firms and clients.

Pros

I am loving LEAP Law Y. I use it constantly. I do my own verification where case law is referred to and download the cases that seem relevant. I continue asking additional relevant questions until I have asked all the questions that I think are relevant, and download all the cases that seem relevant, then I can leisurely go through the information and tailor it to different matters. I love research!

Cons

Well, sometimes LEAP does not get along with Outlook and things go wrong when there are Microsoft Updates. LEAP is constantly changing, which is both good and bad. I used to struggle with changes and get very frustrated. I suggested that LEAP let users know when there is an update and run a zoom to teach people new features etc... I try to watch as many zooms as I can, but this work leaves us all so time poor and over worked. so effectively LEAP listened and reduced what I least like about LEAP. Currently I am struggling with Balance Sheet Plus. I really need some help with that. Zoom meetings when attendees are asked to follow along move too quickly. I was a teacher for 28 years. Every instruction must be given twice. My advice is if you want participation, target less and give people a chance to keep up otherwise we have all wasted our time. I shared this with \[sensitive content hidden\] , he took it well, but will anything change??? I have friends who left and I think some people who have left might come back if they know what improvements have been made. the cost is also a factor. Can you bring the price down for small firms???

March 19, 2026

I have been using Leap for the past 20 years and really love it and I am really excited about future directions.

Pros

I find it invaluable in managing the client information and the overall file for each matter. I find that the Help Team are pretty responsive when we do have occasional issues.

Cons

Some data entry can be a little clunky but that is vastly improving. The reports for firm management are not always useful and can be hard to navigate.
