### "Propel will LAUNCH You Forward in Your Workplace"

December 28, 2018

5.0

Great program, definitely needed if using Salesforce.

Pros

Propel does just that. It "propels" the work you do by streamlining items in one system. It provides for easily accessed design reviews, change order management, and it integrates with Salesforce platform which is very useful if your company uses Salesforce.

Cons

It is somewhat reliant on Salesforce, and overall it has the ability to maximize tools but takes some training to understand.

Pros

Powerful application that has seemingly unlimited possibilities for managing our QMS and PLM. I also like the easy configurable features. The Propel academy is fantastic for the new users to learn.

Cons

I have not found the cons yet. We are new to Propel. So far, the experience was very positive personally.

### "Propel Pros and Cons"

July 9, 2025

3.0

Good but can be much better. Propel support has been very helpful in mitigating most problems I have faced.

Pros

Built on Salesforce, ability to customize workflows. Automates our ECO and ECN workflows which were very manual in the past.

Cons

Pre-existing methodologies and lack of knowledge about how certain fields are meant to be used like item references

### "Propel works fine as an organized method for me to keep track of my parts list"

February 10, 2026

5.0

Propel eliminated our usage of broken excel spreadsheets that caused everyone frustration. Now the engineers and shop floor personnel can reference the same information and will not build something incorrect. Propel also automatically adjusts the inventory when I make a change to a design and thus eliminates the need for me to manually type this information.

Pros

I like it now that the cad integration has worked without crashing all the time and I don’t have to waste hours creating pdf’s for the purchasing department (they can view and select items directly). Propel maintains a version history; therefore, I always know who changed the bom incorrectly last week. I am surprised that it synced with the correct prices from the vendors list.

Cons

The ui are extremely dull and resemble a web site from 20 years ago. Propel takes an excessive amount of time to load large data bases and you cannot move to another tab until the current tab finishes loading. I find it odd that there are multiple icon representations of the exact same item on the same page. Setting up Propel was a complete nightmare and took significantly longer than the salesman said it would.

Did evaluation, used sandbox space. Like the usability and configuration of the system. Possibility for add on in the future

Pros

Usability, very pleasing view, the logical of it. Most of teams have fast learning curve to get used to the system.

Cons

Nothing at the moment, did not start using it. Maybe too much to set up at the start, a lot of decisions to make.

### "Propel Satisfaction Review"

January 23, 2025

4.0

Overall, I am pleased with the way the system works with our ECO and DCO processes. It's really easy for our users to see where a change is at in its process. Having phase changes helps keep the group informed about statuses which can save a ton of time in meetings.

Pros

The alert system for training or approval stages. This system was easy for me to grasp.

Cons

There is definitely a learning curve with using the software for users who are not tech-savvy. A mobile app would be amazing, but i was still able to access everything I needed on my mobile device.

### "Customizable, but complicated to perfect"

July 29, 2025

4.0

Overall my experience with Propel is pretty good. The system is reliable, and is usually easy for new users within the organization to pick up.

Pros

I like Propel's customization features because it allows us flexibility to adjust our QMS according to our Standard Operating Procedures and Work Instructions. Everyone's organization has different processes for operating and what works best for us might not work for everyone. I think its great that Propel allows for everyone to do things in their own way.

Cons

While I like the customization, I think the process for making changes to the system is quite complex. It seems like there should be a more user friendly way to modify layouts, records, or workflows. We usually need to get a consultant involved in order to make changes. Or we need to contact Propel support. Typically when we contact Propel support, they are helpful in explaining what is wrong, but they are not proactive about helping us make changes to our system.

### "Propel Customer Review"

June 27, 2025

4.0

Pretty good so far, we are seeing an issue getting some of our users to use the change process but that is something internal. Would be interested in seeing a Propel Project board that could show all of the projects in a similar MS projects like style.

Pros

The ability to link it to other objects on the SF platform and control who can process a change based on a specific stage.

Cons

There is a learning curve if you want to make changes yourself. At first it is very confusing with all the field sets on different objects and trying to understand which field is coming from which object.

### "Propel is Great!"

July 12, 2024

4.0

The overall experience has been good. The product is easy to use and offers a lot of customizability. Very happy!

Pros

I think Propel is a great product. I like the ease of use, BOM layout, ECO process, and customizability. The Customer Success team is FANTATIC! They go above and beyond to help us at every turn.

Cons

The export of the BOMs needs some refinement, the ability to have Revisions on the BOMs is a critical need that is not available in Propel.

In general, is a good experience, easy to use for most of the part, facilitates the search of information like procedures, drawings and Finish Goods BOM structure among other things.

Pros

### "Propel is a must have for Product Development teams!"

December 29, 2023

5.0

Pros

It's the most customizable PLM platform that I have personally ever used during my 10+ years in Product Development and is the most supported system by far, thanks to a very responsive team at Propel. They helped us design and tailor our Propel configuration based on our needs, including finished goods and BOM management, engineering change orders and revision control, quality control standards, supplier access and email notifications, and more.

Cons

It required a separate subscription/license with Salesforce due to the amount of cloud storage we required as an organization.

### "Our Experience Implementing Propel: Benefits, Trade-Offs, and Lessons Learned"

March 3, 2026

5.0

Overall, my experience with Propel has been largely positive, with a few meaningful lessons along the way. When we first implemented Propel, I was looking for a PLM system that didn’t feel like legacy infrastructure, something that could connect engineering, quality, and commercial teams without constant integration work. What stood out immediately was that it’s built natively on Salesforce. Having product data, customer records, cases, and change processes all on the same platform fundamentally changed how we operate. I no longer have to reconcile data across disconnected systems or question which system holds the “source of truth.” From a change management standpoint, Propel has been a strong fit. Our ECO and deviation processes are now standardized, traceable, and auditable. I have full visibility into revision history, approvals, and downstream impact. Audits feel more controlled, and cross-functional collaboration is more structured. I particularly value the closed-loop feedback between quality events and product updates, it’s much easier to tie a complaint back to a specific revision or supplier. That said, implementation was not trivial. Because Propel sits on Salesforce, we had to be disciplined about data architecture, security roles, and automation. It forced us to mature our Salesforce governance. At times, the flexibility of the platform felt like a double-edged sword, if we weren’t careful, we could over-configure processes. We learned quickly that simplicity and governance matter. I also noticed that while Propel excels at connecting product and customer processes, it isn’t always as deep in highly specialized manufacturing workflows as some legacy PLM systems. For our use case, that trade-off was acceptable, but it’s something I had to evaluate carefully. From a user adoption perspective, the modern interface helped significantly. Our teams didn’t resist it the way they have with older PLM systems. Training cycles were shorter, and the alignment between engineering and commercial teams improved because everyone could see the same product record in context. Financially, it’s a platform investment. Between Salesforce and Propel licensing plus implementation, the cost is meaningful. However, when I look at reduced manual reconciliation, improved audit readiness, and faster change cycles, I see clear operational ROI. In summary, my overall experience with Propel has been that of a modern, connected PLM solution that strengthens cross-functional alignment and product visibility. It requires architectural discipline and organizational maturity, but when implemented thoughtfully, it becomes a strategic system rather than just a compliance tool.

Pros

From my perspective, the biggest thing people like is that it’s built natively on Salesforce. I don’t have to bolt together a separate PLM and CRM and then fight integrations. My product data, customer data, cases, opportunities, and quality records all live on the same platform. That unified data model is a huge advantage, especially when I need engineering, quality, and commercial teams aligned around the same product record. I also really value the user experience. Compared to legacy PLM systems, Propel feels intuitive and configurable without being overly complex. I can tailor workflows, page layouts, and approvals to match our actual business processes instead of forcing the business to adapt to the tool. That flexibility is a big deal when products, teams, and compliance requirements evolve. Another thing I appreciate is how Propel handles change management and quality in a structured but transparent way. Engineering change orders (ECOs), deviations, CAPAs, complaints—everything is traceable and connected. I get end-to-end visibility from idea to release to post-market feedback, which makes audits and cross-functional collaboration much smoother. Speed of deployment is another common theme. Because it’s on Salesforce, implementation can move faster than traditional on-prem PLM systems. I’m not waiting months for heavy infrastructure work. Updates are continuous, and I benefit from Salesforce’s security, scalability, and ecosystem. Finally, I like that Propel bridges product and customer. When there’s a field issue or complaint, I can trace it back to a specific revision, supplier, or change. That closed-loop feedback between product development and customer experience is something I don’t get from disconnected systems. In short, what I like most is that Propel feels like a modern, connected PLM that brings product, quality, and customer together on a single platform without the overhead of legacy systems.

Cons

From my experience, there are a few trade-offs with Propel that are worth acknowledging. One challenge for me is that because it’s built on Salesforce, I need Salesforce expertise in-house (or a strong partner). If my team doesn’t already understand the Salesforce data model, security model, and configuration paradigm, there’s a learning curve. It’s powerful, but that power comes with architectural complexity. I’ve also found that while Propel is flexible, deep customization can become expensive or hard to maintain if I’m not disciplined. If I over-engineer workflows, custom objects, or automations, upgrades and long-term governance can get messy. I have to treat it like an enterprise platform, not just a point solution. Another downside for me is that it may not be as feature-deep in certain highly specialized manufacturing areas compared to some legacy, manufacturing-centric PLM systems. If I have extremely complex CAD integrations, advanced manufacturing process planning, or heavy ERP-driven use cases, I may need additional tools or tighter integrations. Performance can also depend on how well my Salesforce org is managed. Since Propel runs on the same instance as other business systems, poor data hygiene, excessive automation, or bad architecture elsewhere in Salesforce can impact the PLM experience. Cost is another factor. Between Salesforce licenses, Propel licenses, implementation services, and ongoing administration, the total cost of ownership can be significant. It’s not just a software purchase; it’s a platform investment. Lastly, organizational change can be difficult. Because Propel connects engineering, quality, and commercial teams, I may uncover process gaps or cultural silos. The system can handle cross-functional workflows—but my organization has to be ready to operate that way. In short, while I see Propel as modern and flexible, I have to be prepared for Salesforce dependency, architectural governance, potential feature gaps for niche use cases, and meaningful investment in both cost and change management.

Alternatives considered

[OpenBOM](https://www.capterra.com/p/234827/OpenBOM/)[Arena PLM](https://www.capterra.com/p/6101/Arena-PLM/)[Aras Innovator](https://www.capterra.com/p/9008/Aras-Innovator/)[Centric PLM](https://www.capterra.com/p/10010504/Centric-PLM/)

Reason for choosing Propel

I chose Propel because it gave me the right combination of flexibility, ease of use, and integration without forcing me into the complexity and overhead of traditional enterprise PLM systems. First and foremost, Propel is natively built on Salesforce. That matters a lot to me because it means my product, customer, and quality data live on the same platform my sales and service teams already use every day. I don’t have to build and maintain heavy integrations between disconnected systems—Propel and Salesforce share a unified data model right out of the box. That reduces duplication, confusion, and the friction that usually comes with disparate systems. Compared with legacy enterprise PLM platforms like Teamcenter, Windchill, or ENOVIA, Propel feels much more modern and easier to adopt. Those traditional systems can be powerful, but they often require long implementation cycles, deep technical expertise, and ongoing heavy administration. In contrast, Propel’s configurability lets me tailor workflows and processes without resorting to endless custom code. I get structured processes where I need them, but I’m not locked into rigid templates that don’t match the way my teams actually work. What also stood out to me is that Propel breaks down departmental silos. Engineering, quality, customer support, and commercial teams can see the same product context and change history. That’s huge when I’m trying to improve response times on quality issues or get faster feedback loops into product updates. When a customer case is tied to a specific revision or quality event, I can actually trace it back without guesswork. I also appreciate that Propel is cloud-native and continuously updated. I don’t have big patch weekends or version upgrades that freeze my team for months. Feature releases and improvements roll out seamlessly, and I benefit from Salesforce’s scalability and security without having to manage infrastructure. Compared with cloud competitors like Arena or OpenBOM, Propel’s strength for me wasn’t just that it was cloud-based—but that it bridges product lifecycle and quality processes with customer and sales data. That cross-functional visibility has directly helped me reduce cycle times and improve product quality, because I’m not hand-offing work between systems. Finally, from an adoption standpoint, Propel’s interface and alignment with Salesforce made it easier to get teams up and running. Training time was shorter, resistance was lower, and people could find the information they needed without getting lost in a deeply technical PLM interface meant only for engineers.

### "I would recommend Propel to anyone"

March 3, 2026

5.0

I use propel every day, not only for my Product Development job, but also to support our manufacturing teams into any challenges they might have. I can't imagine going back to how we were doing things pre-propel.

Pros

Propel allows users to consolidate from multiple platforms into once single interconnected platform. It has proven to reduce development time and facilitate data management.

Cons

DHF management seems challenging. This is tricky, there is not an easy solution for the challenges that Breg has Also, the management of documents is not ideal.

5.0

Positive, haven't had any major issues so far. Transition from Agile to propel went relatively well, some minor technical issues but Propel has offered an equivalent product.

Pros

Smooth operation, easy-to-learn interface, streamlined. Being able to add pictures to the BOM is small, but makes a big difference for users that aren't technical and not familiar with the parts.

Cons

MFA and tokenized signoff requirements increase friction for users. Additionally, recommend the propel support team spend more time talking on the phone or on video calls to help assist with issues. emailing back and forth can be a pain.

I have been using propel for more than 2 years and the usage on the company has grown to the point that the QMS, PLM and project management modules are implemented throughout the NA region

Pros

I like how the Propel support team is very close to the customer, the software itself is very customizable and Propel has a great technical team that understand customer needs. The fact of having one single source of truth for QMS and PLM boost team collaboration and engagement

### "Clear and easy to use. Customizable and modular."

March 3, 2026

4.0

Great support with a really responsive team. Easy to use product which allows our team to collaborate and ensure records move through the process in a way which is clear to all. It is also modular as we do not have to use, or even install optional parts of the program we will not use.

Pros

Clear layout and workflow. It is easy to see how items move through the process and become items. It is also easy to add custom fields to the pages.

Cons

Some customizations are more difficult to find. They are hidden away in setting and it might not be readily apparent where to go to make the change.

### "Propel, the best eQMS tool available in the market! "

May 28, 2025

5.0

Since implementing Propel QMS in January, the experience has been overwhelmingly positive. Managing documentation, tasks, and workflows has become significantly easier and more efficient. It’s clear that Propel has made a strong impact, streamlining our processes and enhancing collaboration across the board.

Pros

What I love most about Propel is its incredible efficiency and comprehensive functionality. It’s an all-in-one powerhouse that keeps our entire eQMS on track and aligned with regulatory requirements.

Cons

As a fully remote company, one challenge we've encountered is the lack of flexibility with the Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) system. Currently, users outside of recognized IP addresses must manually input a token after their password, which can be inconvenient. Additionally, the absence of a mobile app limits our ability to manage approvals and training tasks on the go, which is a key need for remote teams like ours. Enhanced mobility and authentication flexibility would make the platform even more effective.

For multiple reasons, but the main driver was training lack of compliance with Part 11 (signature authentication) and other regulatory requirements.

5.0

Overall, Propel has been a useful tool for our organization. Using Propel has improved the way we manage our change orders and Quality records. Our records are more organized and information is easily attainable when needed. Tracking and obtaining signatures for change orders and Quality records is also so much easier than it was before Propel.

Pros

I like that Propel is very customizable. As a result, we have been able to customize objects and lifecycle that work for our organization. I also like that it is built on the Salesforce platform and can be easily connected to other applications that we are using.

Cons

I think there is room for improvement in the Training object. Letting users know which quiz questions were answered incorrectly instead of only providing pass/fail status would make this more user friendly.
