If a seamless user experience and reliable software that's easy to use is important to you, do not choose Employment Hero. It has been working OK (just) since ironing out most of the problems but not work the time and money to get to this stage. The HR and Payroll software are clearly sold separately because the look and feel is different and you need to instruct managers to perform actions in one platform, despite being able to do it in another, causing confusion.

Pros

The ability for employees to update their own personal information. Contract templates are helpful for those who don't have an internal legal or large HR department.

Cons

The integration between the two products - HR and payroll is awful. They often don't communicate with each other seamlessly and you are required to learn by trial and error due to the poor deployment processes and cumbersome workflow regarding setup. Customer Service is helpful most of the time but you will be passed through numerous people who do not explain the fundamental use of all the features. Too much emphasis is on knowing the hundreds of pages of instructions and features. Timekeeping apps (Clock Me In/Workzone) are simply terrible.

### "Misleading Payroll Products"

Employment Hero outsources its payroll platform to Paycat, which operates on a separate database and is not fully integrated with Employment Hero's platform. This means it's important to know which tasks should be performed on each platform to avoid issues. If a problem arises with the payroll, Employment Hero's technical support may not be able to fully assist as they are not familiar with the complex design of Paycat's payroll system. Paycat may also refuse to resolve the issue since you are Employment Hero's customer, not theirs.

Pros

Easily create templates and distribute HR-related documents to employees.

Cons

Human Resources and Payroll software are two distinct products that result in frustration due to their poor integration with one another.

Onboarding, completing training and employee notes all in one place have improved our HR systems.

Pros

The ability to access everything from one database. Payroll information, reviews, policies, leave makes it so much easier to manage payroll and HR functions. Onboarding has also become much speedier and more accurate.

Cons

The LMS can be improved as can the reporting and performance appraisal and communication platform.

I love that we have an end to end HRIS solution within Employment Hero, we can manage all aspects from Recruitment to onboarding, offboarding, asset management, recruitment, training, goal setting, performance management and compliance.

Cons

Reporting is not as savy as I would have liked.

We feel EH is aligned with our Group core values and assists to develop a strong workplace culture. Its ease of access provides us the ability to communicate with all of our employees at anytime. It really makes Payroll and On-boarding easy.

Pros

We like the On-boarding experience EH provides new employees joining our group. The Employee Self Service enables them 24hr access that notifies manages and payroll of any request and/or changes.

Cons

We are the 4th largest privately owned Automotive Group in Australia and would like to see EH integrate with our DMS and this option isn't currently available.

Seems like a fair "jack of all trades, master of none" toolkit for small businesses. This is a prime example of a company that ships new features that a small subset of clients use, at the expense of maturing the interface design for the 20% of features that 80% of clients use. It's just a little clunky overall. Sadly, they clearly underinvest in Customer Support, as response times are heinous.

Pros

It has a REALLY wide variety of features for HR/P&C

Cons

Customer support "initial response" times averaged north of 1 week for basic requests from our organisation. UX is underinvested in (5/10).

Good but a little frustrating. I like the platform but it needs some work to make some of its features a little more flexible.

Pros

The set up and implementation of Employment Hero was relatively simple. Really did't take that long to integrate with Xero and it all seems to sync nicely.

Cons

There are parts to this platform that are a little clumsy. For example, 1. when making templates up based on PDFs you cannot simply replace the PDF of the base document, you have to delete the entire document and all the dynamic fields and start again. 2. Expenses and Leave approvals can only be approved by one manager, which eliminates businesses that have different managers for each function. Would be good to be able to allocate who approves expenses and who approves leave. 3. Managers can't see leave balances only admins, which is not ideal as managers need to be able to check leave entitlements before approving requests.

Cons

After the leave request is approved in HR system, it should automatically apply to the timesheets in payroll. Please enable this feature, it will solve many of our issues.

It supports the development of HR as a value add function. As the HR processes are more efficient and easier for employees, they tend to be more involved in the HR initiatives. Also, the information collected is reported graphically, making the analysis and decision making faster and more accurate.

Pros

The great advantages of Employment Hero are the excellent understanding of the HR/Payroll processes and Australian legislation; the innovation and continuous improvement of the software and the clean/user friendly layout and user experience.

Cons

I think the Performance Review process is not as developed as other features within the software. It can be more flexible and 360 degree, allowing a more robust tool to develop employees. I think if improved, it would add a significant value to the organisations. After all feedback is one of the most powerful tools of development.

EH replaces so much paperwork and files that were previously saved on the server which needed to be printed, signed and scanned. EH replaces all of this. Self implementation was painless. On-boarding new team members is only a few clicks.

Pros

Time-sheets and leave application from the app Today's events in the app Certifications to automatically control licences, tickets and qualification replacing onerous spreadsheets Content Management - ability to add templates and link these to the relevant team members HR Documents tab in the personnel file - so easy to issue and finalise contract, pay reviews etc. Reviews in EH replacing a manual paper system Good screen layout - easy to navigate

Cons

My only reservation in opting for EH was the lack of a Learning Management System (LMS). Now that GO1 is available this should meet our requirements.

I did a site audit on another business and they were using EH. I investigated this straight away and found the free demo easy to use. The one-to-one information sharing throughout the demo trial process meant that I could ascertain how EH would work for the business.

Employment Hero is super easy to use. The instant benefit we received was taking our onboarding and HR to a system with paperless processes. Long term I'm looking forward to have all information in one place which can easily be tracked and reported on. Employment Hero also has so many great special features, and they keep adding to the platform to stay ahead of times and provide value to its costumers. Customer service is excellent, quick response and helpful, friendly team!

We are really happy with overall progress. EH has reduced our payroll process from 8hrs to 2hrs. It has made onboarding a very easy and paperless. Very supporting staff members, quick response to questions and suggest better way of operating.

1\. Connection with Payroll portal is still very limited - need improvements in area like excluding Apprentice from payroll tax, applying rule set (setup in Payroll) while onboarding through HR 2. Incident report from App not available 3. Give contractor more visibility on HR 4. Not to do with software but overall training provided wasn't great and no handover document was provided

### "Dissapointing - Complicated - Terrible Customer Service"

The overall experience with Employment Hero was incredibly disappointing. Overly complicated. Lacking proper support and a waste of money. We ended up cancelling our agreement with Employment Hero (another disgusting experience thanks to their terrible copy and paste customer service) and going to a new provider ADP who delivered us a wonderful service and who continue to improve and upgrade their platform.

Pros

We were really looking forward to getting employment hero up and running for our business. We were sold a story of "easy to use" and paid additional for "supported implementation".

Cons

The entire process was poorly managed by the employment hero team. The additional fee we paid for a managed implementation was entirely wasted as we were told time after time "no you have to do that yourself" additionally we were told we would not be charged whilst we were not active on the platform and there was "no rush" to complete the implementation process only to discover that we had been charged for 6 months worth of use when we were still in the set up phase and not using the platform at all.

The onboarding was the main function, and it doesn't work very well

Cons

A few weeks after entering the contract, the company re-vamped the whole site and gave my employees a totally new app. All very confusing having to re-learn the layout etc. Then they 'Bully" me into having to complete their requirements or face an increase in the cost of the contract - at the same time reminding me that I have signed up for 12 months.

The onboarding is great, we have induction content so that new employees are familiar with our business and can complete tasks before they start.

Pros

In love how easy it is to use and customise to our needs. The customer support is also amazing!

Cons

I would like an easy way to get a list of employee start dates and date of birth and be able to quickly get a list of employee teams. This may be available in the premium options, but not the one we are using.

Employment Hero is Australian so found it would be better customer support and have features suited to the Australian market.

Pros

Employment Hero appears to have taken the Apple approach of starting with the end user in mind and focusing on the customer experience rather than create the technology and people having to adjust to the technology. I like that I have made some suggestions for additional functionality regarding visibility of annual leave calendars over multiple departments which they had taken on board and rolled out in a software update. There was no additional cost to us and then all users get the advantage of the improvements. Like wise, when other users make suggestions that they take on board, we get access to the additional functionality. It is good that there is only one platform of Employment Hero that they need to support.

Cons

Very happy with the software. The timeliness of support was slower than expected initially, but I think this is due to growing pains and the rapid growth of Employment Hero.

Pros

I like the ease of use, mobile app and engagement features for business to increase the communication and engagement of employees. I think the system quite scalable and should be essential part of every growing business.

Cons

The structure of assignment of task for onboarding is a bit cumbersome, more dynamic and flexible approach should be considered (eg. notifications only for onboarding tasks, instead having all people that needs to stay informed assigned as Owners and therefore creating the same task for each of them). Webhooks / tasks integration for Teams and/or auto-complete via API might be a great option to avoid "ignorance of old schools e-mail notifications" which can become overwhelming and as a result, ignored.

Overall, our experience with EH has been an extremely positive one. It’s helped us streamline all our HR and payroll functions, we are now completely paperless (except for the odd report here and there!) They really are on top of the game.

Pros

What we liked most was the fact that it turned our HR and payroll departments paperless - virtually overnight! It’s easy to use and navigate. It’s intuative and suits our 150+ employee sized business to a tee. Seamless integration between the HR and Payroll platforms means less time spent on menial data entry and fewer mistakes. Perfect Integration with our accounting software as well. We’ve been using EH for the past 2 years and they’re constantly improving and/or implementing new features.

Cons

The reporting functionality on the HR platform wasn’t quite where we needed it to be but this has been improved over time with updates. Also, the staff announcements feature is a bit basic for our needs.
