September 19, 2025 5.0 Its great!! 10/10 would recommend. I am glad my daycare chose to use this app. I had never used anything like this for my oldest child Pros I absolutely loved being able to see my daughter through out her day. The information provided helped me ask my daughter specific questions about her day. As well as know if she would be tired or hungry at pick up time. You can also save the photos to your device. You are also able to invite family members so they can see how their granddaughter is doing for example. Cons It would be great if when your child ages out there was a folder of photos you could download. Or maybe a list of highlights! Review Source LB Leighann B. It got me through the first year of running my first childcare center, but ultimately I switched products. Pros I enjoyed the ease of having everything I needed to manage in one place. Attendance, staff time cards, sharing documents with clients, email communication, etc. Cons I did not like the billing platform. As I mentioned before, the applications are easy to use. Pros The useful features and that the application is very user-friendly. Cons Customer Service, not being able to get a REAL person on the phone. I feel like text or email are fine for small issues, but bigger issues may get lost in translation via email or text. Also, texting and emailing are time-consuming, especially for someone in a preschool who has to constantly be moving. Director Education Management Used the software for: 2+ years ### "Brightwheel is a HUGE time saver that simplifies everything" December 19, 2024 5.0 Since I'm the Director, Lead Teacher, AND do 100% of the admin work, it has been a huge time saver for me! I used to hand write receipts for every payment I got AND had an old school ledger sheet to keep track of all the money. This has been wonderful. I also love being able to send photos in real time to familes throughout the day. Pros I love that everything is in one single app. Communicating with parents via email is hard since families get so much email that mine would sometimes get lost. The same with text messages. This just streamlines it so that families know they can go look in the BW app to find anything related to our preschool. Also, I have NEVER had a problem in regards to a response to a questions or problem I've had. You all are very quick to respond and always have a well explained answer that is easy to understand. Cons I can't really think of anything right now. I'm looking to see if there's a way to sort out income sources for our benefit. For example, I'd like to be able to calculate how much of our income is "tuition" or "field trip fees" or "registration fees" or "early drop off fees" etc. There may be a feature for this but I haven't even had time to dig to find out. :-) Review Source KP Kristin P. They make improvements constantly. They even accept suggestions! Pros We love that everything we need to run our preschool is in one tool. Attendance, billing, messaging parents, scheduling... it's all there in one place. Cons It took me a little too long to learn the financial process... but I'm old school! I strongly suggest practicing for an extended length of time before actually using the financials. Review Source JR Jessica R. Lead Teacher Child Day Care Services Used the software for: 1-2 years ### "Pros and Cons" October 29, 2024 4.0 Overall, it's easy to use and has a very organized structure so you can see where things should be or how they should go, even if you haven't done that specific thing yet. Pros I really like that you can save lesson plans from one year to the next. It makes it easier to see where the kids should typically be at at certain times of the year. The communication with the parents is really great too. It's easy to take pictures and attach them to lesson plans and send them to the parents. Messaging can be sent either from the lesson plan, from a photo or video, or from the messaging section, which is nice. And you can send to entire classrooms for announcements like our recent Halloween party. Cons The assessment portion is difficult. It doesn't connect to the lesson plans, so when you take a picture of a lesson plan that has developmental goals/milestones on it, it doesn't automatically upload that photo and lesson plan to that kids' portfolio. And you have to input everything separately. Each kid, each photo, each goal, each section, each description (because again, it doesn't pull from the lesson plan descriptions, even when the photo is from a lesson plan that's in Brightwheel), it's just really time consuming. It's not clear how you make a template, or if that would even be helpful. And there aren't any example templates or template tutorials so you can see what that would look like. You can't send them to the parents either. Which kind of defeats the purpose in my opinion. " October 31, 2024 4.0 Overall my experience with brightwheel has been great. We have used it at 2 separate facilities and it works very well for communication with the providers and keeping the parent informed of any and all aspects of their children's daily routine while at the facility. Pros I like that brightwheel does a great job of allowing the staff at my child's preschool to keep me as a parent updated on what is going on throughout the day in many different aspects. Cons While not a huge problem, I would like the chat functionality within the App to send push notifications when my wife responds to messages as well. As it is, I will receive a notification if someone from my child's preschool sends a message, but I will not get a notification that my wife sent one as well in response. This would be helpful so that I would know without having to open the App and navigate to find the exact conversation, just to realize that a question has been answered or situation handled. I love that it allows me to send parents info and pictures and videos in real time. I also love that it gives me a record when I want to look back and check on something (for instance a child's absences due to sickness). Lastly, I LOVE that I don't have to worry about collecting paper checks as parents pay directly to my bank on the app. Cons I wish there was a way to record staff absences and whether or not they were absences with or without pay. I had Mother Goose years ago and it at that time was much cheaper. The price most definitely has increased greatly for sure. I wish that this was not such an issue but over all a blessing. Pros Everyone is very willing and able to help with your questions. If they don't know the answers they direct you to someone who knows. I loved it on the parent side of things and even as a staff member, however the management side of things was not user friendly. Pros Bright colors and overall easy to use. It was very appealing to families and provided that connection to their child. Cons Didn't like the reports and the format in how they looked. Also had some issues with the time clocking in and out feature and reports from that. Cons The app is only an app. I wish I could use Brightwheel on the computer.
