It helped me significantly in my work as project manager of an international multicenter RCT. Cons There are still options for improvement, such as a reminder for participating researchers of a coming deadline for a study visit (but Castor may have added this feature since I last used it). Switched from [OpenClinica](https://www.capterra.com/p/78122/OpenClinica/) Openclinica was more complex, had lesser options and was not easy to use for researcher from participationg centers. Pros The flexibility to customize the EDC intrument. Cons It is very expensive for independent researchers in middle income countries (I am from Argentina and after pandemic I couldn’t afford it). Pros Castor EDC is very easy to use for filling out forms and sharing the data from those forms with different stakeholders. Cons What I like least about Castor EDC is its pop-up messages asking for a 'reason for change according to GCP practices' whenever I change an answer. I would like to suggest the following improvements: #1 – More time to make changes or the ability to come back and modify them at any time while still filling out the form. #2 – The option to come back and add more answers to a multiple-choice question while still working on the form (this is not a change to an answer but merely an addition of data). #3 – If I complete a form and later modify the contents of more than one question, the messages should be specific to each change rather than general for the entire page, since the reasons for each change might be different. I have used multiple databases over the years and although not perfect, so far it is favourite. Pros I like how Castors looks and how easy it is to navigate Cons I don't like that tables are not recognised as being incomplete. Also, I use an Ipad to log in to castor most of the times and I am not sure that when I need to input numbers on multiple fields the keyboard doesn't stay in numbers and I have to constantly swap from letters to numbers. I have designed these studies in Castor and am very happy with the product. Pros Castor is easy to use. In designing studies, I like how variables and answers are easily created, and that answers can be re-used for multiple variables. I also really appreciate the feature to have a variable depend on a (hidden) calculation. In using that feature, I have found that https://www.castoredc.com/tools/calculation-helper/ is a great way of testing your calculations are syntactically correct. It is also helpful that additional information can be given per variable. All these and other features make data entry clear and understandable for users, which in turn ensures that data entry mistakes are minimised or even prevented. Furthermore, it helps each study with an audit trail, so that changes are clearly documented for audit purposes. In my contact with customer support I have found that they responded swiftly and were always able to help me with any queries. Lastly, Castor keeps improving on its exisiting product, which to me is a significant sign of long-term viability. This is especially relevant when considering Castor for long-term research projects. Cons Getting to know Castor takes a bit of time, but it is very helpful to be aware of the structure of Castor, which allows you to fully utilise its potential.
