Both of them can be really painful. Pros Sucuri has a good name in the security world. They provide quality applications and WAF is one of them. The ability to block traffic from certain parts of the world, malware scanning and downtime notifier are some of their good services. Cons While there is good, there is also bad and worse. Their Support team takes a lot of time to respond. Their services go down very often and backups struggle when there is large amount of data to be backed up. Director Consumer Services Used the software for: 2+ years ### "Terrible CDN and Company with a half-decent WAF with zero customization" February 7, 2024 2.0 Stay away, after being a customer for 9-years, they suddenly just suspended my account with no reason, one minute to the other, no warnings or anything, not able to get a copy of my settings or anything. Suddenly my 40.000+ users faced an 404 and I had to be in a hurry to migrate somewhere else, which became cloudflare Honestly as someone who was worked in IT-security for 14-years, I'm very happy to be at Cloudflare, much more feature packed, sucuri lack so many industry standards, that's ridicoulus nowdays. They haven't done any updates at all for the last 9-years I've been at them, very OUTdated. In Denmark our goverment published the website called "sikkerpånettet" for companies to test if their site lives up to current industry security standards, and Sucuri lives up to VERY few of the checkmarks. Eventually check your own sucuri site if you don't believe me. Customer service takes around 12-48hrs to get help, sometimes their response is okay, but most of the time you get answer that seems like coming from a BOT. Sucuri might be fine if you are running a blog, or something simple, but if you have a website with api's, or customers/users login to manage and see stuff, absolutely stay away, it's really hard to scale with Sucuri. Even simple features like websockets is missing. Pros Half decent WAF, where you didn't have to do anything. Cons How they communicate with their customers. The lack of features, customization, not being up to date with industry security standards. Cons I did have a circumstance where my site was hacked in spite of Sucuri being installed. However, it was due to a vulnerability in the plugin I used to build the site, so I'm not sure that could have been avoided regardless of the software. March 25, 2023 4.0 Overall i am happy with Sucuri Website Security as it adds a line of defense for my website that is really secure and the pricing is not that expensive so I am happy with it. Pros I have used Sucuri for my wordpress websites, and it has been helpful as you get notified about the suspicious login attempts, ddos attacks and other updates. The best part i found is hardening, which stops every user on wordpress from editing the code and htaccess from wordpress. Cons I did not like Uptime feature as when compared to realtime uptime updates, jetpack was way better then sucuri. And because we put Sucuri on every site we support we have been able to reduce the time and effort required by our team to fix hacked sites. Pros Hackers are a real threat to any website. Sucuri has been the only website security service we've used for years. It's simple to use and setup. It has worked better than any other solution on the market. Doesn't require any local installation or components. The support is some of the best I've ever worked with. Cons Because some aspects of malware require cleaning files, I wish there was more automated way the software to more to clean the files, reducing the amount of time waiting for support to complete website cleanups. It's a solution not to pass by if you hold on to your website. Pros One killer aspect of Sucuri is the fact that its technology is not limited to only one platform, apart from WordPress it also works well with Drupal and Joomla.The site check scanner options are very fast at scanning. On a regular basis, the plugin will perform auto-audit on every single page, post, and file on the website to ensure that no data is lost without any recourse to accountability (yummy). The customer support service is also very warm and proactive Cons Having a tool that works well and ultimately serves its purpose is good, however, making it easily accessible by keeping it fairly affordable is even better. Sucuri's pricing options are a little expensive (if you ask me). I mean, It will be hard for small-budget businesses to cope with this pricing for 3-5 months successively or longer. It's always getting better through updates and improvements. When the latest vulnerabilities are discovered, I can count on the firewall and the Sucuri team to quickly update the firewall and keep my sites protected. It's a great peace of mind to have for something often overlooked. Pros I like that the firewall has enough flexibility to work with other security elements. As we were initially testing, we had Sucuri's firewall as a supporting layer in our infrastructure. It turned into such a valuable asset we moved it to our first line of defense Cons As with any product new product, there was a bit of on-boarding where the team needed to reconfigure some of our infrastructure to work properly with the firewall, but now as we've been going along some the changes we made as part of the implementation needed to happen anyway, so it was not a lost effort. It added to the stress levels of having my website suspended and potentially losing money on it Pros Nothing about this service has been good so far. Their daily website scans have been saying that my website has 0 issues and 0 malware files while failing to fix the issue through the ticket I submitted. Cons I’m a real estate agent in Toronto and I use a lot of services for my business, including some legacy software and never have I ever had such a horrible experience with a service provider until Sucuri. I’ve had my website flagged and taken down because of malware on Saturday. 3 hours later, as recommended to me by my hosting provider, I signed up for Sucuri with the sole purpose of getting my website cleaned. Having it done asap was imperative because every day I have prospects visiting my website and if I lose even 1 prospect, that’s tens of thousands of dollars in commission. So before signing up for their service, I chatted with their rep on the website. He said that it’s hard to give a timeline but most malware issues get resolved within 24-48 hours. So I signed up. On Monday, at 2am my time, a support rep got back to me and informed me that they can’t login to the website and they asked that I create a connection for them. Their instructions were so limited, I had to reach out to their rep on the chat to clarify and then sent them the info they asked for. It took the same support rep till the next morning (at 1am) to get back to me and tell me that the connection I set up is wrong and provided 0 guidance on how to fix that. I’m sure it’s going to take them another day to get back to me. So the main reasons I would advise against using: terrible support (chat option is only on the website some of the time; response via email or account takes 24-hours; poor communication Reason for choosing Sucuri Website Security it was suggested to me by my website hosting provider. September 22, 2020 5.0 They fixed the problem, sent me emails, re-cleaned the site when google ads still complained and set up the firewall. Great service both from the techs and the chat people (that needed me online to relay login info when the tech was trying to get into my site). A well co-ordinate approach. Pros The people (not bots) at Sucuri cleaned up all of the malware on my site. Google Ads informed me that my ads were disapproved (after running for 4 years) because the website became infected with malware. My hosting provider would not help clean up the website but pointed me to Sucuri. I subscribed to the basic plan for $199/year. Within 3 days the site was clean from malware and a firewall installed. Cons The basic plan will get to your problem on a lower priority than the more premium plans - which is to be expected. I found that by chatting with the rep I got more attention to my problem, and when I didn't chat my trouble ticket was more likely to be ignored. They saved my whole site when it was compromised by plugins. Super easy to use, just sign up, send them the information on what's going on with your site and these magicians will figure it out and restore your business. Their customer service can't be beat, they are helpful, reassuring and positive. I was in a panic and they came to my rescue. I will gladly pay them the subscription fee as long as I maintain a web presence (may that be for many many more years)! Seriously, DO NOT attempt to have a website without them; something will happen, it's only a matter of time. They will make it so you avoid the headaches of being hacked. In most cases the average TAT ranged between 14-24 hours.Sucuri's CDN network was pretty limited. Over the 2 years we used Sucuri, the team had no confirmed plans to expand their Anycast CDN Edge Network, while most other CDN providers offered a much larger geographical coverage. It cleans your site 100%, or at least that was my experience after an attack where a ton of malicious files was uploaded to my site. Also, it is very cost effective, not the cheapest of them all, but one of the cheapest and the one that is recommended the most(?) in my niche (Internet marketing). Cons Not much bad to say here, the only factor could be price, as most of the security solutions for cleaning a site can be costly for solopreneurs. When you as a paid member ask them to find the source of hack they hide behind 'we do not do forensic analysis' and do not care to find the source through which your site is hacked. On the other hand they publicly disclose 0 day vulnerabilities and eventually serve the hackers the code on platter. Pros They are quick to fix when your site is infected/hacked.
