We are finding the Toucan Tech team an absolute joy to deal with. They know their stuff and are incredibly responsive and customer-focussed. I couldn't be happier that we have made the switch.

Pros

Having everything integrated in one system has radically improved our working processes. I have a very small team and reducing our admin load means we can spend more of our time doing the really important stuff like meeting donors and creating inspiring campaigns - which is also what we enjoy most.

Cons

We probably weren't fully prepared for the workload involved in verifying new members to the online community and this has made us review exactly when we fully launch the portal to our whole alumni community.

ToucanTech is a great product with a user-friendly front-end and back-end interface which is far better than other providers. I enjoy working with the helpful and knowledgeable support and data teams and would recommend Toucantech to anyone looking for a one-stop solution for alumni communications, database management, fundraising and dedicated alumni website portal.

Pros

ToucanTech has made a huge positive difference on the school’s alumni relations, particularly through the well-designed email templates and database. The filters have a great user interface and are easy to use, especially for anyone with little/no database management experience. There is lots of training available via the support website, online training and events and overall, I’d say using Toucantech is fairly intuitive.

Cons

I don’t have any negatives. My role is mostly marketing as well as covering alumni/development within a medium-sized school, so given the limitations on my time I’d say the only downside is knowing that there are so many useful modules and features available but I mostly use the basic functionalities.

It has been delightful. Sending mass emails has been a life changer and the ability to post meaning full article which our alumni can selectively look at has been useful

It is a great place to store school memories and communicate with the alumni either in groups or as individuals. I also like the twenty four hour support.

Cons

I can't think of anything. My experience has been so good.

I'm very pleased with my overall experience and would happily recommend ToucanTech!

Pros

I love that ToucanTech are quick to respond to any queries I might have with everything from day to day matters and more complex situations like our fundraising pathway and event management. They are always encouraging and supportive; exactly what you ask for in customer support, if you ask me.

Cons

The system is incredibly clever and is always being updated so my one draw back, if any, is that there are some functions which require a lot more time to get to grips with and require more attention to detail.

ToucanTech has proven to be an excellent platform for our alumni site— rich in features, and highly effective. Its wide range of tools makes it easy to manage and has significantly improved how we connect with our community. The customer support is consistently impressive, with fast, helpful responses and clear guidance whenever needed. Our account manager, \[sensitive content hidden\], has been especially approachable and supportive, making the experience even more positive. It’s evident that the ToucanTech team is committed to ongoing development, with regular updates and improvements that enhance both functionality and user experience. Although, sometimes things aren't followed up on in terms of updates. The platform has been instrumental in bringing our alumni community together through engaging features such as photo galleries, news articles, and a dedicated Careers page. Behind the scenes, it has also played a key role in helping us better manage our data—allowing us to segment audiences and streamline our database with greater accuracy and ease.

Cons

I find some of the systems and features aren't particularly intuitive, and take a bit of learning but the team on support@ are amazing and really quickly either teach you or make the changes necessary behind the scenes. The tool is more complicated than other sites, and the support is better is what I understand and I really appreciate all the hard work that goes in.

Happy with Toucan Tech because it addresses a lot of the things we need in an alumni database. It allows us to store different types of information to help us get a better profile of our records. Staff are also helpful and responsive.

Pros

Its features are intuitive and user-friendly. It handles all our alumni database needs.

Cons

Can't think of anything at the moment. I appreciate that if there are certain things we can't do at the moment, it is included for consideration for future development updates.

Advanced Filters- it can take a while to set up a filter and I'm not convinced it pulls up all the relevant records. Feels like there's a lot of room for user-error.

I would characterise Toucan as having a very personal and tailored approach. They were the incumbent system when I joined, and having worked with them for over a year now, I have never had such a responsive and involved relationship with a software provider. They have delivered the changes and developments I wanted (as we moved to better utilise the power of their software) and the result has been a front and back end system I am delighted to work with. I am also confident in this strong working relationship being long term and continual improvements as a result.

Pros

Using Toucan it is very apparent that it has been thoughtfully developed as the fit-for-purpose tool to handle all aspect of community management. The back end database is allowing us to build and record a quality data set that will enable Brentwood School to continually improve communication, engagement, and fundraising in our wider school community ('Association'). Having this one stop hub makes our day to day easier as a Development team, but also offers convenience and consistency to those in our Association. Working with Toucan we are able to execute best practice through a well presented and user friendly system.

Cons

Toucan was built as a bespoke "all in one" system when they recognised many of the alternatives were slow moving or just repurposing more generic systems. This means they are still developing some integrations with third parties, but we have always found an option that works.

Our move to ToucanTech was easy, and the more you use it, the more you realise its overall capabilities.

Pros

It is an all-in-one system that we can use to engage further with our past students and donors. We transferred over 10,000 records, and each time we send an email out, our data gets cleaned up by people directly updating their details. The daily automated emails you can set up are great and the data stored is easy to access and report on. Their support team and the customer manager you are assigned are outstanding. They reply to your emails and are always available for a training session where required.

Cons

I don't really have any cons; the only two things I think that could be improved in time are; when setting up an email ready for sending, you cannot send yourself or others in your team a test email directly from the template and the other would be to be able to add more than one picture in a news article without setting up a gallery. However, these are minor when you look at all the advantages you gain from the overall ToucanTech system.

It seemed more user-friendly, and after speaking with customers already using ToucanTech it became a very easy decision. One thing I kept hearing was their customer support was next level outstanding.

ToucanTech have been really helpful since we used the package. They went over and above to ensure the journey from start to finish was slick and easy. Their Helpdesk is invaluable - quick responses to every question.

Pros

The best thing about this software is the front page it gives and the ease of use for both administrators and members. It's super easy!

Cons

Sometimes there is not enough information about processes or how to change things, but a quick message to the Helpdesk normally resolves everything.

We are very pleased with Toucan Tech, it works for us and is much less complicated than our previous database. The website is easy to maintain and perfect for what we need to communicate with our members.

Pros

I find it easy to use, adding events and news stories is intuitive and can be done with very little training. Accessing the data is also very easy and can be done quickly on a PC or on your phone.

Cons

I think the only thing we would like to add is an Instagram feed to our Home page.

There are huge positives and the software has already made a big difference in our abilities to run a website, collect data and soon to run online donations which is very important. I find the customer Services team respond very quickly and we have very much enjoyed our sessions with \[SENSITIVE CONTENT\] I do find that the Instruction Manuals/help guides on line could be more detailed with some topics missed completely and others only having a brief summary of the process you are trying to complete/attempt for the first time. There are many times, that had the help guides been slightly more detailed then I would have happily used these and worked though the steps and not needed to contact customer services. I think this would be hugely helpful.

Pros

I like the look and format of the software. The fundraising fund pages are extremely helpful in giving up to date stats and I like that you can build your own web pages and manage them instantly. This is extremely valuable, liberating and time effective.

Cons

Some parts of the software formatting are not always straightforward and take some time to work out how to use. I find the reporting element a little tricky but I know this is being worked on. It would be great if there were a few more "standard panels" in the design hub for building non-menu web pages that would offer more options in terms of layout.

This database gives us everything we need in one place. It is also constantly evolving and taking advice from customers to improve and increase its offering.

Pros

It's very easy to use and the support Toucan Tech provide is very personal and they always resolve any issues you send. Having our alumni website, fundraising data and email manager in one database has been the biggest advantage. This allows us to much more effectively report on engagement, identify new prospects and link up better between fundraising and alumni relations.

Cons

The initial move was tricky as our data is quite complex. However, the data team are very used to migrations like ours and helped us through the process. Any issues are very quickly fixed even when you've moved to the live site.

We are an early customer of Toucan Tech and started working with them about 6 years ago when we decided to implement our first alumni software. It has been a huge pleasure along the way particularly because the team remains the same - their customer service is first rate all round.

Pros

The whole team is very approachable and helpful, the tech team takes onboard all our comments and implements most of them and the software is very intuitive and user friendly. The software is also very complete with both an alumni and fundraising platforms.

Cons

I absolutely love everything about Toucan Tech!

Great staff, always keen to help and get back to you. There are lots of training videos and guides.

Cons

As with any database, it won't always do what you want it to do, but the team work hard to get fixes in place where possible. The cost is probably market average, but it is still a big investment.

Overall we are very happy with ToucanTech, so much so that we have recently resigned with them for a further three year contract. The product answers all of our needs within our alumnae and development office.

Pros

The best part of the software is that it is a one stop shop, so you have your database, fundraising, online portal, and events functions all tied into one package rather than needing different software options to answer different needs.

Cons

We are generally very happy with this product, but of course as with all products, there are occasional glitches. However, the customer support team always respond very quickly and efficiently to these and they are constantly working to improve and to bring out new features.

fantastic, Our engagement with our community and accuracy of information is significantly better than our old Dynamics system which required very expensive and constant customisations as it wasn't fit for purpose for an alumni organisation.

Pros

The overall SaaS solution is helpful in tht all new features automatically show up without any delay or work on our side. Donation and now membership management are the two most critical aspects of what we use Toucan for. Our communications strategy is also well enabled by toucan. Their support is second to none. Always responsive, helpful and ready to support Occasionally a design expert comes to us to show how they could help make things look even better.

Cons

Toucan could have more payment integration to enable less costly payment methods like direct debit or bank transfers. Being able to mass update fields and custom fields would help remove administrative burdern. In general they are able to take on feedback and look to build into the platform what we need.

It had the majority of features that were important to me and their support was great in the pre sales and continued afterwards.

It's easy to love a great product, it's easier to love ToucanTech because in addition to the amazing product, they offer a second to none service. The team at ToucanTech met us every time we had a question, an issue, or simply wanted to discuss improvements to the platform.

There is really nothing that we do not like about the service or the product which is why we were one of the first international schools to jump on board and continue to be a loyal customer.

I have been working with ToucanTech for the past two years using their Alumni Software. They are more than a 'service provider'. They listen and adapt and change to feedback from their users, which is not something I have experienced before. Other companies I have worked with say they listen but nothing ever seems to change. ToucanTech have a thirst and desire to be the best and this comes across in everything they do and in my humble opinion they are the best. They go the extra miles every day and make their customers, like me, feel part of their family'listened too, respected and willing to grow together. Their software is intuitive, easy to use and most of all FUN to use. I come into work excited to see what has happened on my 'network' and keen to do more. We really are seeing a change in the way our Alumni 'see' our school...they are seeing the value we can add to them now and how they can use their network to benefit them. We could not have done this without ToucanTech. I really can't say a bad word - ha ha apart from the fact that I now have Alumni connecting with me every day now so I am very very busy!!!

Pros

Easy to use Links to SIMS so makes downloads easy FUN for our end users If you see improvements they really will listen! Additional Services they provide e.g. Report on how your network is performing making it easy to feedback to your school They have a network where you can link in with other people using the software to share ideas/experiences

Alumnae communications - very easy to send targeted emails by user group, location, industry, etc. Alumnae support - eg, identifying people who can offer work experience to students. Events management - advertising and booking in attendees for events.

Pros

We were offered a tailored training day before setting it up - we could specify the main features we would use so the training was adapted to our needs, eg, how to produce reports we needed to replicate. It is pretty intuitive, but online / telephone support is good when needed. The team are very friendly and helpful, and will 'take over' the PC to talk you through solutions if necessary. The weekly support emails are helpful and let you keep on top of new developments. Graphics are good, we have had good feedback about the 'look and feel' of communications from our alumnae community.

Cons

Integration was quite a significant task due to volume of data but it was well managed on both sides. The advanced filters and mass emails are possibly the least intuitive parts to use but this was resolved with good support and increased user familiarity.

The overall experience is fantastic, and I feel that the more you engage with Toucan Tech's helpful support team, weekly emails, updates and webinars, the greater the possibilities become for your Alumni Network. It's very helpful to test out new features and understand how they can benefit you site. Any problems, the team are always quick and responsive to emails and calls, fixing or overcoming issues no matter how big or small.

Pros

The design hub is extensive so you can really personalise your network, however at the same time, it is straightforward to learn and implement and helps to create a professional looking site. I particularly like the customisable layout of the homepage and the types of menus you can select. The recent update allowing drop-down menus is also beneficial in creating a more user-friendly network. Lastly, the content editor is simple and allows for excellent article-creation in no time at all!

Cons

I feel there is further scope to boost engagement, such as enhanced capabilities to 'like', 'comment' and 'share' other users' content. There are often small bugs or technical errors when using the 'advanced filters' to organise records for emails etc.
