The overall experience has been wonderful. The onboarding team was really great and helped problem solve and set up a new and effective system.

Pros

It's hard for me to even pick! We are coming from a very limited system, so the tagging and search capabilities have been a huge time save for my team. I also love the ability to have photos in multiple albums, the upload links are great, and the system is really easy to navigate.

Cons

The portals landing pages are a little limited in design capabilities, but nothing that would make me not want to use the system.

Overall Canto is a nice alternative to an internal digital asset management system. For me it only really worked well for photos and graphics and not other types of media like video.

Pros

Canto gives a nice visual representation of the different photos and assets you have in your library. It is relatively easy to use and has a nice look.

Cons

Sometimes it can be hard to find exactly what you're looking for. It's nice having the visual representation but it's not the most detail orientated system.

Canto has been a reliable and well-considered DAM solution. From a Head of Studio perspective, it has improved accessibility, consistency and control of brand assets across the business, while scaling comfortably as content needs grow.

Pros

Canto excels at making large, complex image libraries genuinely manageable. The search, tagging and metadata functionality is strong, which makes finding assets fast and intuitive, even across thousands of files. From a studio perspective, it’s particularly good at enabling wider teams to self-serve assets without constant oversight from design. Customer support has also been consistently responsive and helpful during onboarding and ongoing use.

Cons

Very few downsides in day-to-day use. As with any DAM, ongoing organisation and tagging require discipline, but the platform provides the right tools to do this well.

Very good. The data base works efficiently and reliably. In more than four years of constant usage I have not encountered a single down time. The help desk and customer support are very well organised and respond fast to any queries. CANTO also as a good collection of tutorials and guides for admins and contributors. There are some smaller issues here and there, but when I send a ticket about it, response is always fast, friendly and honest. My organisation uses CANTO mainly for photos/stories and as a publication library.

Pros

CANTO is very easy to set up and customise. The upload functions are logical and my users manage to find content after minimal training. As an admin, I have access to a lot of reporting and fine-tuning, without it being overwhelming. The customer service is also exceptionally well organised and friendly.

Cons

There are very few locations worldwide where CANTO is not available. Unfortunately one of the countries my organisation works in is one of those locations. Also, when we first started to use CANTO, price development was not always clear to us.

Before Canto, our team had brand assets scattered all over the place (Drive, random folders, etc.) and none of us really knew what the current version of anything was. Since Canto, everything is now located in one central location, so I know that when I need a template or an image, I am accessing the most current approved version. This helps keep our brand consistent across the team as well as prevents the usage of outdated materials.

Pros

Honestly, before Canto I was spending a lot of time trying to locate the most recent versions of things like logos etc. With Canto I simply search for what I need, click on the document and I am good to go.

Cons

There are times when I will upload larger files to Canto and it seems like it will take an eternity. I will begin uploading a file and then I will get frustrated and leave for a while and come back later to find it still uploading. Also, I occasionally find the search function of Canto to be hit or miss?

Canto has been great for our organization. Our internal employees can upload and/or download assets they need, and we can generate public/private share links for external parties. I also love the new AI search!

Pros

Canto allows you to store tons of files and easily organize them into groups!

Cons

The only thing I don't like is if I move files to another folder, the files will say I updated them, even though I didn't touch their description/information. I also don't like that it doesn't notify you if you're trying to upload a duplicate file.

My experience with canto is overall pleasant. Using the software, I was able to access my business's shared photos. However, it was confusing to navigate at first as I was forced to click certain links.

Pros

The interface, the layout, and the accessibility. I like how easy it is to navigate through the software.

Cons

The lack of tutorial on controls. I was not able to understand things for a short moment when first using it.

Great overall experience. Would reccomend if you need to keep track of different clients photography for projects or if you need a personal filing system for your photography.

Pros

Fantastic image management, easy to upload and tag photos so they can be part of specific projects. Easy to use filing for multiple projects.

Cons

There isn’t much to not like, it’s easy to use and navigate, the filing is good but if you don’t file when you upload re-tagging images can be a bit annoying to do.

Canto has allowed our organization to better manage our digital assets, which in turn saves time and money. It can be extremely time consuming searching for images on a shared drive, but the search and tagging function on Canto helps our employees to be able to find images quick and efficiently. Sharing photos with external partners and stakeholders also used to be time consuming, but now we are able to share photos instantaneously through the share link or through the partner portal, allowing for external partners to feel like they are in the loop.

Pros

Canto was extremely easy to implement into our business. Previously, we stored all of our photos/videos/files on the shared drive, external hard drives and servers. Canto has allowed us to ensure all employees who require access to digital assets have access to them, regardless if they are at the office or not. We really like the convenient options for sharing files with external stakeholders, especially the sharing link. It eliminates the need to upload files to dropbox and worry about storage issues.

Cons

No cons. Each time I have had a technical issue, the Canto support staff has helped me very quickly and ensured my problem was fixed.

Canto reps are easy to reach out to and quick to offer help and trainings. This made set-up and rollout very easy. The interface and overall experience is aesthetically pleasing and easy to use. And, most importantly, the functionality is exactly what we needed in terms of versioning, sharing, tagging, and search.

Pros

As a project manager, what I like most about Canto is the ability to search through metadata and quickly and easily find an asset I was looking for. I also like the ability to easily share assets, through email, dropbox, links, etc.

Cons

I wish the level of access we are paying for would allow more "power users" and more storage. But, we can always purchase more as the need arises.

The overall interface and simplicity is what made Canto our favorite. The interface allowed us so many customization options so that we could set it up like our old server so that the transition from our team was seamless. We also liked Canto's integrations with Adobe, share ability, and search/tagging/metadata functionality, as well as the ability to make and integrate portals and style guides.

We are using Canto to house our image library and files. We will also use it to give people in different department easy access to our brand standards and logos. Outside vendors will be able to search for anything they might need directly from Canto too. As a designer Canto helps me to quickly find appropriate files for any project I am working on. Canto is great for organizations with a large image library. You are able to tag images appropriately to be able to find them easily in the future. It also works well if your organization manages multiple brands, you can easily filter through exactly what you need for each brand. The price compared to most of the competition was a big part of why we moved forward with Canto.

Pros

1\. Canto team was very supportive during the onboarding process 2. Endless possibilities with tagging images 3. Ability to use directly in Adobe products with plug-in

Overall experience has been very positive. Canto, for the most part has solved our sharing issues. DropBox and GoogleDrive weren't cutting it. We get asked all the time about Canto - clients, partners, etc. really like it. It's a great tool to have within a Social Marketing Agency.

Pros

\- High quality visual display - Easy to share assets with clients - Search functionality is awesome

Cons

\- One off asset links continuously break or don't work. - Support team doesn't do much. Does a lot of blaming issues on internet. - Program logs you out constantly. - Clients are unable to mark assets as approved or not approved. - You can't filter assets by comments, only if you are tagged. - The extras are pricey - admins, contributors, portals, etc.

I priced a number of different applications including Canto. After doing a valuations on a product they narrowed it down to three, Canto being one of the three. After reviewing the other products and Canto I found that Canto provided for more capabilities it is substantially reduced cost. Canto has helped us to improve our ability to deliver contents to a very large Group of individuals within the university. This product has helped us to broaden our ability to share a message in a very powerful way.

Pros

This product helps us to deliver video in high-resolution images rapidly. In the past, this was a very time-consuming process but Canto has allowed us to create an amazing solution. As a result, we're able to deploy web and social media solutions dynamically as needed. This product helps us to deliver video and high-resolution images rapidly. Cons

It took a little bit of time to understand the structure of the software, but after going through the deployment and using it I had a better understanding of it. Some of the features related to users and permissions within subdirectories were a little challenging to understand.

Canto provided a phenomenal products edit extremely competitive price. Their competitors provided similar products but a substantial increase in cost. Some of the standard features of Canto or additional features to cost even more on some of the other competitors products. I also evaluated their supports and found it to be one that was very responsive and helpful.

Overall, Canto is a great DAM system. The tagging (metadata) is vital as it permits clients to find assets effectively when little data is available.

Pros

\- Folder organization - Smart albums - very quick option for finding assets by their file type - Unlimited tagging of assets and Smart tags - Portals are very good for controlled sharing with other teams - Direct upload to social media sites and file storage services is very helpful - Advanced Download Options - you can crop, zoom, and adjust the image quality before download

\* The system starts to lag when loading multiple images \* Sometimes, settings can be a little confusing \* It would be great if portals could be more customizable.

Canto provided us an easy to use platform to store a large number of videos, audio files and PDFs and allowed us to share them easily with clients, designers and plugged into our company wordpress for fast upload to our sites.

Pros

File finding and searching on Canto is very easy and highly effective (provided that your naming and tagging is up to scratch) and the implementation and sharing of permissions, accounts and controls is very fluid and clear cut.

Cons

Uploading and ensuring the right metadata is attached to files can take time and slow large uploads, but is key to ensuring that files are easily found later.

Overall we are very pleased with our decision to implement Canto for our digital asset management. It has increased our productivity and gives us an edge when responding to photo and video requests from media. It also helps us to keep our visual content fresh and organized. I would definitely recommend Canto to anyone looking to protect and organize photos and videos.

Pros

We use Canto for campus-wide digital asset management. Our Marketing and PR team manages the application, which helps us distribute photos and videos to our campus departments and news media. We find it especially helpful for organizing and distributing athletics-related content. It is also helpful for organizing photos and videos for easy retrieval.

Cons

The application is sometimes laggy, but the Canto team is super responsive.

We just began working with Canto. This program will be used across our global offices. So far we are highly impressed with the program and the support we have received. The Canto support team is outstanding and has been there for us every step of the way. We are extremely happy with the training for this program and it has been a smooth transition. We look forward to continuing our work with Canto.

Pros

Portals - We have customers and distributors all over the world this portal aspect will help us manage their content they are receiving and eliminate the bottleneck of people across the world having to wait a whole day to hear from us with assets.

Cons

The option to make a single file downloadable or not. We have some highly sensitive files and some we don't want people to be able to download but be able to look at. So it would be nice if we could make a single file not downloadable. They do have other options like terms of use or watermarks but it be nice if that was a feature. You could do this but only in bulk, so you'd have to make all files not downloadable.

Reason for choosing Canto

We went with Canto because the Bynder program was larger scale than what we needed. We also really enjoyed the portal aspect of Canto. We felt that this was going to be a key feature for our company.

What do you like best? The flexibility of deployment and implementation was paramount for our organization, as we ended up hosting the solution on premise due to our large file sizes. We love how the metadata is written back to the asset. Additionally, the various ways to access the assets through the web, through apps or through a desktop client made the user adoption go very smoothly. What do you dislike? Customizing the software during the installation and implementation phase was more time consuming than we had anticipated and with the new releases of software and portals we have encountered some delays and hiccups (we are working through them). Out of the "box" reporting is significantly lacking compared to the other options, but you can buy a 3rd party addin for that. What business problems are you solving? What benefits have you realized? The visibility on where are assets have gone and where they are going is greatly increased, in addition to increasing the visibility of knowing what assets we have while enabling a strong search functionality has decreased duplication of assets and increased productivity and efficiency.

We just signed a contract extension with Canto becaue we have been very happy with the service they provide. They are alwasy willing to take our feature requests seriously and are always working to make sure we are getting the most use out of the tool as possible.

Pros

The three major items that drove us to choose Canto as our DAM were the friendly and effective customer service, their ease of setup and customization, and their constant drive to update and make their software better. Both our account manager and the Canto IT team are quick to respond and always willing to do what is needed to help us achieve what we need.

Cons

We had some issues early on in the setup/implementation phase as we didn't feel like we were provided with adiquate information as to what was needed for our trainings. However, once we got into the process things became more clear and everything went smoothly.

Reason for choosing Canto

We just really felt the customer service and responsiveness of the Canto team was second to none. They also seemed forward thinking and had a product that was simple for both the admins and the consumer level users to jump in and start using.

We've only been using Canto for the last five months and overall have been impressed with what it can do. There's more to learn to be completely "fluent" in using it, but we have already gained a lot of insight to both what assets we have and what assets we need to find or create.

Pros

Canto is an excellent digital asset management system. We love being able to search our assets even before we have spent much time tagging them. The AI features have made it easy to get basic tagging done without any time on our part.

Cons

It takes quite a bit of effort to get all of the assets uploaded and organized. A lot of the system has to be learned and is not intuitive.

Overall we're happy with the platform. We're hoping to get additional user access worked out with the company.

Pros

Canto's biggest strengths are it's core ability to house all of our digital assets in an organized manner and then allow us to keyword tag each one. We have thousands of files, and it's super important for us to find the right file quickly without having to know the file title. From there, we can see versions, comments, share it, and more.

Cons

This software is madly expensive. Yes - it has TON of features, but what it lacks for us is disappointing when it comes to user logins and limited outside access. Their "Portals" area is a nice feature, but it's pointless when you're needing a 3rd party to simply upload their assets (from such as a photo shoot) and you have to send them a core login to do so.

Pros

The software does what it promises. You can tag assets and search for them easily. This software can potentially save your organization a lot of time.

Cons

Customer service / technical support has been frustrating to work with at times, other times they've been helpful. I've called in to Canto before and had one of the reps that answered the phone tell me that they don't have a tech support team, the rep was very unhelpful. Other times I've called in to explain the scenario that I'm experiencing and the customer service rep will then have you fill out a support ticket explaining what you just explained to them over the phone. It would be much easier to just call the rep and have them take over the support ticket entirely. If the team revises their support process, I would be very satisfied.
