" February 22, 2026 5.0 I was nervous to try it at first, because I have over 38k subs across several substacks; With that many subscribers, it would cost a mint to put them into an automated email sequence, and segment by group. Mailerlite becaome my choice because of how simple it was to set up automations, how it was designed to scale with my paying subscriber list, and how easy it was to implement. It made me wonder why I waited. Pros I was searching for a simple ESP with easy to use automation that was affordable. and Mailerlite fit the bill. A lot of ESP's have overcomplicated their software when all you need is a simple tool that sends emails on a prescribed schedule. I have it linked to my store, for sales, linked to a landing page to capture emails, and the auto sequence works great. Cons Mailerlite has options for upgrade, and the 500 subscriber limit free plan feels limiting. I wish they would use industry conversion rates out of 1000 subs for the free plan. This gives you an opportunity to do more testing features in list segmentation. But even when you upgrade, there are affordable options that let you scale. Pros MailerLite is the easiest and most intuitive email marketing platform available. Their design and functionality is so intuitive - they have everything I need and it just makes sense. Additionally, it provides the best value of any of them out there - especially for a small business owner. Their customer service is super responsive and \*actually\* helpful. When something doesn't work, or there is a feature you are looking for, they address those issues. They integrate with all my other platforms. And now they have the capability to sell digital products! I just can't say enough good things about them. Cons Sometimes new features are a little clunky while they get the bugs worked out. It has a pretty comprehensive free plan, though I quickly outgrew that, which tells me my efforts are working. Cons Because I'm an infrequent emailer, I'd love an option to pay for each newsletter campaign sent instead of a flat monthly fee per subscriber. I pay the same rate as someone emailing their list daily or weekly, but only keep in touch maybe once per quarter unless I'm launching something. SO I need to go off line using Visual Studio Code instead. Then I copy the HTML back into the email template. I was having issues with MailChimp not sending emails to everyone on my list. I had a terrible experience with an important blast that was only 25% successful so I vowed never to be caught in that trap again. It’s clean, intuitive, and makes email marketing easy. Especially because we juggle multiple offers, launches, funnels and membership tiers. We currently use it alongside Make, and it runs seamlessly in the background to power our entire membership flow. From onboarding emails to tiered automations and Stripe-triggered sequences, it keeps our ecosystem organized without the clunkiness or overwhelm of some larger tools. One thing we love: it doesn’t get in the way. You can build beautiful campaigns, segment your list, and run automations without needing a full tech team. It plays well with Stripe, our forms, and our client journey mapping. Pros The landing pages are easy to create, and they offer a ton of templates, so you don't have to create something from nothing. When you integrate MailerLite with other programs it is easy to do. We use it with Make automations and we get notified immediately if there is an issue, and in a couple of clicks we are back to making money. Cons There are a lot of options to use, so you might want to watch some of their videos to quicken your learning of all the options. I like ML for its easy of use, speed, and efficiency. Currently upgrading to a paid plan, which I wouldn't do if I didn't like the service. Pros I use the platform to manage my subscriber list. It's easy to use and straightforward. I never have any trouble with it. I had to upgrade and selected the wrong plan, which customer service was quick to help correct. Cons I had to upgrade my plan for two reasons: I reached the max subscribers for my current setup, which is fine, and because ML dropped their free plan from 1000 subs to 500.
