### "The Quiet Backbone of How Our Team Actually Works"

April 6, 2026

5.0

lack has been one of those tools that just quietly becomes essential. You don't really make a big decision to rely on it it just kind of happens because it works. The overall experience has been really positive. It sped up how we communicate, made it easier to stay on top of what's happening across the team, and honestly just made work feel a bit less formal and more human. Instead of everything being this rigid back and forth over email, conversations happen naturally and things get resolved faster. There are rough edges here and there the notifications can get out of hand and the pricing stings a little as you scale but when you zoom out, the impact it has on how a team functions together is hard to argue with. It's one of those tools where once you've used it properly, going back to anything else feels like a step backwards. For remote or hybrid teams especially, it's pretty close to irreplaceable.

Pros

What I like most about is honestly just how natural it makes communication feel. It doesn't feel like a work tool it feels like texting your team. You ask something, you get an answer, you move on. No drafting a formal email, no waiting a day for a reply, just a quick back and forth that actually keeps things moving. The channels are a big part of that too. Everything has its place — there's a channel for the project, a channel for random stuff, a channel for announcements and nothing gets mixed up. You're not digging through one giant inbox trying to figure out what belongs where. And the integrations are just everywhere. Your notifications from GitHub, your alerts from whatever tool you're using, your standup bot it all just flows into Slack and suddenly you have one place where you actually know what's going on. It just makes the whole team feel closer, even when everyone's working from different places.

Cons

What I liked least is honestly the notifications. Once your team grows and you're in a bunch of channels, it becomes a lot. You're constantly getting pinged and if you're not careful it just kills your focus. You end up either checking every five minutes or missing something important because you muted too much. The search is also not as smooth as it should be. Finding an old message or a file someone shared three weeks ago feels harder than it needs to be. You kind of have to remember exactly what was said to track it down, which defeats the purpose. And the free plan has that message history limit which is genuinely frustrating. You go back to find something from a few months ago and it's just gone. For small teams or startups watching their budget, that feels like a pretty big thing to lock behind a paywall. None of it is enough to walk away from it, but you do feel the friction after a while.

### "Great chat platform for businesses"

April 17, 2026

5.0

Overall is a great messaging platform for businesses. The UI is straightforward and intuitive. Public and private channels for specific projects/groups is a great feature and easy for end users to navigate. The huddle feature is good as well if you need to voice/video call and/or screenshare. The ease and ability to invite external people into your workspace is great as well. Admin reporting and analytics could be slightly improved though.

Pros

The UI is very easy to navigate and end users usually prefer over many other messaging platforms. The use of public and private channels is very straightforward and easy for users to navigate. Collaboration with external individuals and/or other company workspaces is a great feature and very easy to setup. Licensing structure is pretty simple as well and you have the ability to invite external guests either to a single channel or multiple channels.

Cons

Message history/export for admins is only available on the enterprise or Grid subscription and even when you do get it, it comes as JSON file that you still have to parse through. Connect and 3rd party app integrations are a good feature but can get annoying when the original user account is deactivated which kills any integrations or connections they originally setup. There needs to be a way to transfer that ownership/connection to another user or admin to keep those integrations as is. Admins also can't see or manage private channels which can be annoying.

Alternatives considered

Reason for choosing Slack

Ease of use and simpler UI/navigation. Creating a "channel" in Teams is a nightmare.

### "Powerful team communication with an overwhelming UI"

December 30, 2025

3.0

Pros

makes it very easy to communicate with anyone across the organization. Being able to quickly message teammates, participate in team channels, and have dedicated groups for different functions helps speed up collaboration and decision making. It is also helpful knowing exactly where to go to ask questions or get quick answers. The notification settings can be useful when configured properly and help ensure important messages are not missed.

Cons

The user interface can be challenging to navigate, especially when trying to find past conversations, threads you have commented in, or messages saved for later. It can be difficult to track down specific chats or discussions by date. While some of this functionality may exist, it is not intuitive or easy to discover. can also feel overwhelming due to the constant flow of messages. Without careful customization of channels and notifications, it is easy to become inundated with information. The ease of reaching anyone at any time can also create a sense of urgency around everything, which can make it harder to prioritize what truly needs immediate attention. It requires significant user effort to manage effectively, and the UI could benefit from being more streamlined and user friendly.

### "Great for Collaboration, But Can Be Overwhelming"

April 25, 2026

4.0

Using has been a mostly positive experience for team communication. It’s great for real-time collaboration, organizing conversations, and integrating with other tools. However, managing constant notifications can be overwhelming at times, and finding older messages in a busy channel can be tricky. While it improves team connectivity, the volume of communication can become distracting, making it essential to manage notifications effectively for a smoother experience.

Pros

has seamless team communication with organized channels, direct messaging, and file sharing. Its integration with numerous apps like Google Drive, Jira, and Zoom streamlines workflows. The search functionality is robust, making it easy to find past conversations. Slack's customization options, including notification controls and custom emojis, enhance user experience. It's a collaborative hub, improving team productivity and communication, especially in remote or hybrid environments.

Cons

is sometimes overwhelming with constant notifications, especially in large teams or active channels. The sheer volume of messages may lead to important information getting lost. Its free plan has limited message history and integrations. While it’s great for real-time chat, Slack isn’t ideal for long-form discussions or detailed project management. Additionally, heavy reliance on it for all communications can contribute to "tool fatigue" for some users.

### "Slack is Good"

March 19, 2026

4.0

I use daily for work and it’s pretty easy to navigate although some of the hotkey functions aren’t easily reversible. That might be a me problem though.

Pros

As a free app, it's an extremely good deal especially for small workplace teams. If you are operating with a small group to get something done, it’s very easy to use

Cons

There are some features that Don’t function correctly for me like the huddle feature. I would prefer other apps for voice calls as well.

### "A chat that makes remote working simplified and great notifications "

April 16, 2026

5.0

It is a great chat system, which makes a remote working environment possible. With possible the possible integration it means you are notified with real time updates

Pros

free licence is great value for money, it is extremely easy to use and with the allows for realtime communication while working remotely. It has great integrations allowing notifications in real time.

Cons

The only limitations I’ve come across is the limitations from the free licence. It has to do with how long messages are retained, but could be solved by prancing a licence if required

### "A Must-Have Tool for Modern Team Communication"

April 7, 2026

4.0

Overall, has significantly improved how our team collaborates. Conversations feel more dynamic and efficient than email, and the ability to integrate our most-used apps has reduced a lot of context-switching. Once the team establishes good channel organization and notification habits, Slack becomes a powerful communication hub that boosts productivity and keeps everyone aligned.

Pros

makes team communication incredibly smooth and organized. Channels help keep conversations focused, and the search function is excellent for finding past messages or files. Integrations with tools like Google Drive, Jira, and Zoom streamline workflows, making it easy to manage projects in one place. The interface is clean, intuitive, and works seamlessly across devices.

Cons

Notifications can become overwhelming, especially in large teams with many active channels. It can also take time for new users to adjust to channel organization and notification settings. Some advanced features and administrative controls are limited unless you’re on a higher-tier plan.

### "Excellent communication hub with great AI functions"

May 1, 2026

5.0

The interface is clean, the search function actually works well (which is rare for chat apps), and it keeps everything centralized. I wish the native automations had more depth, but as a core messaging platform, nothing else really comes close to how intuitive it is.

Pros

Great tool for everyday work communication. The new AI features are actually super useful, especially for summarizing massive, chaotic threads when you come back from a day of meetings. But my absolute favorite part is the Workflow Builder. It makes setting up standardized IT request forms, automated onboarding messages, or daily standups incredibly easy without needing to involve developers. The integrations with almost every other tool we use are just a massive time-saver

Cons

Even though the Workflow Builder is great for basic tasks, it hits a wall pretty fast when you need real automation. The lack of proper conditional logic (if/then branching) is frustrating. If you want to build complex, multi-step flows with different outcomes based on user input, the native builder just can't handle it. You still end up having to connect external tools like n8n or Zapier to do the heavy lifting

### "Efficient Team Communication Tool with Strong Collaboration Features"

April 17, 2026

5.0

is a great way for teams to talk to each other, share files, and work together all in one place. Customer support teams are very helpful and friendly. It works well with other tools and is easy to use, which makes teams more productive overall. But too many notifications and some limits on the free plan can make the experience less enjoyable.

Pros

is a great way for teams to talk to each other, especially because its organized chat channels keep conversations structured and easy to follow. It also makes it easy to share files and works well with other tools, which makes the whole workflow more efficient. The clean design makes it easy to use for working together every day.

Cons

Too many notifications and active channels can make hard to use. The free version has limits on message history and file storage, which makes it less worth the money. Bugs and performance problems that happen from time to time can also make chat and meetings less smooth.

### "Efficient Team Communication, Slight Learning Curve"

November 5, 2025

5.0

Overall, has been a helpful tool for communication and collaboration. It has streamlined discussions and made remote teamwork easier, though it requires some discipline to avoid information overload. We also have integrations for reporting bugs directly to the relevant teams.

Pros

makes team communication easy and organized. I like how channels help keep topics separate, and the search function makes it simple to find past conversations. Integrations with other tools are also very convenient. Also, prorating payments is great.

Cons

There are tools that are still not very mature such as canvas and lists. It would be good to see more integrations/automations added to these. Also for small teams, the price going up.

We have been using continuously for the past 5 years and used in recruitment, where candidate assessment and assignments are essential. Slack offered us seamless and well grouped communication at all times, from top management to field offices we had it all covered.

Pros

The potential for team communication is unmatched. We have previously used it for recruitment. The seamless task assignment is unparalleled, we could manage 5 teams and deliver exceptional results in no time.

Cons

Nothing major but we have had days when for a short period of time, theor servers were down so we couldn't access some files. But nothing major and all was fixed.

### "Essential tool for team collaboration and workflow automation."

April 9, 2026

5.0

has fundamentally changed our team's collaboration practices because it decreased our internal email needs by almost 80 percent. The application functions as a digital headquarters because it offers more than basic chat features. The system creates a transparent organizational environment which lets people access information easily while maintaining remote team connections through its multiple channels and integration systems.

Pros

The team communication system operates smoothly through its user-friendly interface and channel organization system. The 'Huddle' feature enables me to conduct fast audio synchronization because it eliminates the need for scheduled meetings. Our workflow management system achieves peak performance through its best-in-class integration with Google Drive and Jira and Trello and other tools.

Cons

The notification management system becomes unmanageable because of its default settings which create notification fatigue for users. The Pro and Business pricing model proves expensive for small teams while users experience difficulties in locating specific historical files and messages through the search function.

### "Great communication tool with smart features that keep the whole team aligned"

April 23, 2026

5.0

Overall my experience with has been excellent. It is our main communication platform at NextDay, and the threaded conversations are one of the most valuable features — they allow us to keep discussions organized without losing context in busy channels. The AI-powered summaries are particularly helpful when catching up on long threads after being away. Having all team members in dedicated channels for different topics makes collaboration easy and keeps everyone informed about what is happening across the company.

Pros

The thread system keeps conversations organized and easy to follow, even in high-traffic channels. The AI summary feature is a great time-saver for catching up on missed discussions. Having all teams and topics centralized with proper channel organization makes communication very efficient across the company.

Cons

Notifications can be overwhelming if you are part of many active channels. It can take some time to configure the right notification preferences to avoid unnecessary interruptions throughout the day.

### "A fun way to communicate with your colleagues"

January 26, 2026

4.0

My overall experience with is fairly positive, I use it mostly for informal communications and short work chats with colleagues. It is a fun way to communicate and is useful for setting up specific channels to share with teams.

Pros

is a free communications product, and therefore does offer great value for money. It is easy to use and implement, with customizable options, including icons, text, emojis and gifs. You can set up different channels or direct messages with different permissions to manage access. You can set your status and use icons so other users can quickly see your whereabouts. It offers instant messaging making it a useful chat tool. You are able to store and share files on Slack, with a section dedicated to files. You can get notifications or chose to silent them depending on your preference. Slack is a fun and flexible way of communicating with your colleagues.

Cons

does take up a fair amount of ram on my laptop, and when used in conjunction with other similar products it can become time consuming. Slack offers a huddle feature for calls but I do not like this as much as with other products, and it seems a little clunky. However some peers enjoy using this feature, making it seem less informal than a Teams call.

### ""Effective Platform for Centralized and Real -Time Team Communication""

January 23, 2026

5.0

As per my honest opinion,My overall experience with is outstanding. Slack solves the problems of scattered communication across emails and multiple tools and it helps me by centralizing all team conversations making it easy for me to collaborate easily and effectively. This improves response time and consequently helps me in reducing dependency on emails everytime for a new messages. It generally helps my teammates and me to saty aligned , especially in remote or hybrid work enviroments.Overall ,i can say that it increases productivity and keeps everyone connected in real time. Apart from that Slack helps me by solving several major workplace communication and collaboration problems by bringing all team conversations into one centralized platform.

Pros

The things that I like most about the are depicted below Effective Communication: Slack provides platform for fast, organized and effective conversation on a particular topic with teammates . Reliable features: Slack provides for the real time messagings, file sharing and search functionality inside this platform makes it easy for me to find out the past conversation and documents when needed. Integration with other software tools like Google Drive ,Zoom and other workplace apps are generally considered as a big advantage for me ,as everything can be managed from one platform . The interface of Slack is clean and intuitive , so any new team members can adapt quickly without any much training.

Cons

The things that I disliked about the are depicted below The important messages can sometimes did not get in focus, when there are too many active channels or notification popping out at the same time. When there is a large teams or active workplaces, messages from multiple channels ,threads , and direct message can become overwhelming making it difficult to focus on high priority conversations. Apart from that , over the time ,teams may create too many channels ,which can lead to the confusion and make it harder for me to identify where specific discussions should takes place.

### "Efficient communication for remote work"

October 21, 2025

5.0

I am an independent contractor and I've now used as part of two different projects working with three different teams (one project has two different Slacks because of how it's set up, plus the other project is totally different). Slack is how I communicate with everyone from all of the projects. I think it's a little weird that my coworkers don't even have my phone number - but it's just not needed, Slack is sufficient. When we were testing a specific issue with our product, we made a Slack canvas to throw all the thoughts onto without clogging up the channel. We debate how things should be designed in threads. It's so much more efficient than I was imagining remote work communication would be.

Pros

It's such an easier way of managing work/project communications than email or Google Docs or texting or anything else I've ever used. In remote work it's so important to have a platform where you can share files, calendars, and thoughts all in one place. I like that I can turn on/off notifications so that I can have a work-life balance and not constantly get work stuff all the time. I've never had any issues with the site requiring customer service, it just runs well for me. I like that the app lets me toggle between different groups without having to sign in/out of different email accounts associated with them.

Cons

There's so many options for managing your work communications that sometimes I don't know what to pick for a certain need. And sometimes my team will be talking about something on a channel and the same topic in a DM, and it's hard to merge those different avenues together.

### "Slack Messenger Review"

March 14, 2026

5.0

Pros

I've been using for almost 4 years now. Prior to Slack, I used other tools for team collaboration, but I found Slack much better in terms of its UI, ease of use, and integration capabilities with other internal tools, which notify me if anything changes. For example, if I raise a JIRA ticket and there's an update on it, I receive notifications in Slack as well, which is really helpful.

Cons

The recent app updates that changed the UI are something I don’t really like. I feel the earlier UI was better and cleaner. Otherwise, it works as it used to and does the job.
